A father who lost three of his children after they were run down by a drunk and drug-affected driver will come face-to-face with the man who killed them in an extraordinary interview.
Danny Abdallah's son Antony, 13, and daughters Angelina, 12, and Sienna, 8, and their cousin Veronique Sakr, 11, were killed in February five years ago when an out-of-control ute mounted a footpath in Sydney's west.
Samuel William Davidson was behind the wheel at the time of the crash, under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and was initially sentenced to 28 years jail in 2021 after pleading guilty to four counts of manslaughter. He was given a non-parole period of 21 years, however that was reduced to 15 years after his lawyers won an appeal.

"Something I never expected to see"
Mr Abdallah and his wife, Leila, have spoken openly about their decision to forgive Davidson, dedicating their lives to promoting the remarkable act in honour of their children.
He and Davidson have had numerous conversations in the years since the tragedy. But, for the first time, Australians will witness such a meeting between the two men in this Sunday's episode of 7NEWS Spotlight.
Davidson, who is behind bars at one of the nation's highest-security prisons, was visited by Mr Abdallah and Spotlight's Michael Usher, who said that for eight months, the network 'has worked closely with Corrective Services NSW, lawyers and psychologists to make this possible'.
'We spent a week inside one of Australia's hardest prisons where TV cameras are rarely allowed to speak with a high-risk, high-security inmate serving one of the longest sentences for his crime,' Usher said.
'Danny's journey to forgiveness has been long, complicated, and deeply emotional.
'What I witnessed inside those walls is something I never expected to see, and certainly never thought we'd be able to share with the Australian public.'
In a preview of the episode, Mr Abdallah said he had 'a very special message' for Davidson.
'I wanted to meet him. I wanted to tell him about my kids,' he added.

'New revelations"
While Davidson, asked if he ever thought about Antony, Angelina, Sienna and Veronique, said he does 'all the time. All the time'.
According to Spotlight, Davidson is set to give 'new revelations about the reasons behind his actions and the devastating consequences that followed'.
Sharing his journey to forgiving Davidson, Mr Abdallah told Sky News in 2023 said that during his first visit at the prison, 'I could see the remorse'.
'It's just really heavy … I looked at it this way. No one has impacted by life, outside of my parents, my wife and my kids – no one's changed my life more than this man,' he said.
'I'm a confrontational kind of person and I wanted to see who he was and I wanted to tell him all about who my kids were.
'For me, it gave me – not closure – but it helped me move along in my life through the journey that I'm in.'

When he and Leila welcomed their eighth child last April, Mr Abdallah told The Daily Telegraph he received a call from Davidson congratulating the couple.
'There are no winners in this, in any tragedy like this, so all we can do is show forgiveness, move forward in the best way we can and try to find joy in the midst of pain,' he said.
'Samuel's parents gave me a call and said congratulations on the new baby and I said thank you.
'The driver rang me from jail the next day and said congratulations and that he was thinking of us and I told him he and his family are in my prayers.'

Wild CCTV of alleged prison attack on Bassam Hamzy

Extraordinary footage of the moment gang boss Bassam Hamzy was allegedly stabbed and beaten in a frenzied prison attack has emerged. The alleged attack on Hamzy, 46, unfolded on February 17, 2024 in a yard at Goulburn's Supermax jail, which holds NSW's most high-risk inmates. Police in December charged two men over the incident – Lofu Namulauulu and another dubbed AA – and allege it was orchestrated via the Triple J Unearthed app. In the footage, which has been shared online, a handcuffed Hamzy can be seen walking into frame while Mr Namulauulu approaches prison staff to have his cuffs unlocked through a barred door. He appears to pat Hamzy on the back as the two trade places, with the Brothers 4 Life founder putting his arms through the bars. Hamzy's back is turned when Mr Namulauulu allegedly pulls a shiv out of his pants and attacks. Mr Namulauulu allegedly stabbed Hamzy several times to his upper body before unleashing a flurry of punches while his target still had an arm stuck through the bars. Hamzy then appeared to fight back, kicking out at his alleged attacker before squaring up when his right arm was finally released. Both men allegedly appeared in the footage to trade punches before Hamzy was struck and fell to the ground. Mr Namulauulu allegedly could be seen punching and kicking a prone Hamzy several times before Correctives staff finally rushed into the yard. NSW Police allege the attack was ordered by AA who allegedly used 'an FM Radio website chat function to communicate his instructions'. AA was charged with recruit other to assist in carrying out criminal activity, knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray. Police allege that Mr Namulauulu, 28, carried out the attack for money. He was charged with using offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, participate criminal group contribute activity, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray. Neither men have entered pleas to their charges ahead of their next court appearances in September. A Corrective Services NSW spokesperson said staff intervened during an alleged assault between two inmates on February 17 last year. 'One inmate suffered injuries to his head area and was assessed by medical staff,' they said. 'The inmate did not require hospitalisation and refused medical treatment by on-site staff.' Hamzy has become one of NSW's most notorious prisoners and has been locked up inside various jails since the turn of the millennium. He was convicted for the 1998 shooting murder of a teenage nightclub patron in Kings Cross and sentenced to 21 years. While behind bars Hamzy founded the Brothers 4 Life gang, which emerged as a major player in Sydney's underworld, and directed operations from behind bars. The 46-year-old has since been convicted for running drug supply rings from prison – he was most recently found guilty in 2024 of directing a meth syndicate from Supermax via calls to his former lawyer. Hamzy has also launched several lawsuits against the State of NSW, including over conditions inside Supermax, and last year filed a claim alleging police failed to stop the assassination of his older brother Mejid in 2020. He will not be eligible for parole until 2038.

Bruce Lehrmann's defamation appeal live: Hearing enters day two

Bruce Lehrmann's appeal against last year's defamation ruling continues in the Federal Court today before three presiding judges.
