Attempted murder arrest after car collides with pedestrians
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car collided with a number of pedestrians in County Down.
The incident happened shortly after 23:00 BST on Saturday, outside a licensed premises on Main Street in Millisle.
Police, alongside ambulance services, attended the scene and two people were taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
It was reported that the vehicle involved turned around and drove past the licensed premises again before making off from the scene, police said.
The vehicle was located a short time later outside Walkers Lane, Millisle, and a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The man was also arrested on suspicion of a number of driving offences and he remains in custody, police have said.
Motorists are advised that Main Street is currently closed and they should seek alternate routes.
Detective Inspector Oonagh Ryan, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, said enquiries are at an early stage.
"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, who witnessed the incident, or anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage, to contact detectives," she added.

Prosecutors are expected to file formal charges against 45-year-old Mohamed Soliman. He's currently being held in the Boulder County Jail on a $10 million bond and is expected to be charged in his 3:30 p.m. hearing with attempted murder and charges related to the Molotov cocktails he allegedly used in the attack. According to court records, he now faces 28 counts of attempted first-degree murder -- 14 of which are "with extreme indifference, and 14 are "after deliberation -- all class 2 felonies; 14 counts of first-degree assault with extreme indifference, a class 4 felony; two counts of use of an explosives or incendiary device, a class 2 felony; 14 counts of attempted use of an explosives or incendiary devices, a class 3 felony; and 60 violent crime sentence enhancers. Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said on Monday afternoon that Soliman will be charged in state court with 16 counts of attempted first-degree murder, eight of which are "with intent and deliberation," the other eight of which are "with extreme indifference." He's also set to be charged with two counts of use of an incendiary device and 16 counts of attempted use of an incendiary device. The group walks through the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder every week, advocating for the release of Israeli hostages taken to Gaza in Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023 attack. Video from multiple witnesses appears to show Soliman during the attack holding two jars or bottles with a clear liquid that investigators say contained gasoline. 'This dude just hit my car,' she said in the video. 'He's trying to run away.' Dashcam footage shows the car—a dark green Audi RS5 with no license plates and tinted front windows—driving off. Chen said her friend was never able to identify the driver, but she's now crowdsourcing help. 'Help my homegirl identify this car,' she wrote in the caption. 'Lots of good karma coming your way.' Chen even offered a reward: A discount on buying or selling a home through her services. But as of Thursday, no leads. The culprit is still unknown. Meanwhile, Chen's video has racked up more than 9.8 million views. 'He didn't try running away, he got away,' one viewer said. 'No plate, too? Y'all not finding bro,' another wrote. 'Yeah, you'll never get them,' a third commenter added. Others flagged a bigger issue: The car appeared to be wrapped—a vinyl film covering the original paint. That might look sleek, but it also makes the car harder to identify, complicating any efforts to track it down. 'I would unwrap it as soon as I got home,' one TikToker quipped. A second viewer echoed this sentiment, writing, 'Car is going back to the wrap shop tomorrow!' 'A wrapped RS5 in New York [with] no plates,' a third viewer noted. 'You 100-percent might as well just take the car to a shop because you aren't finding him and insurance is just gonna raise ya rates, so just take the loss and pay out of pocket.' On Tuesday, Chen replied to a commenter to say that the person TikTok sleuths had flagged wasn't the culprit. But she hasn't posted a broader update on whether her friend has found the driver.
