Hideo Kojima Calls MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - THE FINAL RECKONING Tom Cruise's "Desperate Struggle to Save Cinema Itself" — GeekTyrant

Geek Tyrant2 days ago

Leave it to Hideo Kojima to turn a trip to the movies into something poetic, existential, and gloriously over-the-top.
The legendary game developer recently caught a screening of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning in IMAX, and he came away with more than just an adrenaline rush, he came away convinced that Tom Cruise might be the last true defender of the cinematic experience.
In a tweet that's already making the rounds online, Kojima wrote:
'Went to see Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning in IMAX. It begins with Tom greeting the audience and ends with a glance he throws our way.
'This wasn't a film about Ethan Hunt saving the world from the threat of digital domination – it was a film about Tom Cruise, putting his life on the line in a desperate struggle to save cinema itself, which is slowly vanishing from the world.'
Well, he's not wrong! Cruise has basically become the patron saint of practical stunt work and theatrical exhibition in an age when studios are still chasing algorithm-friendly sludge.
Kojima continued:
'It was the movie of a man who lives and breathes film. I still want to see him keep making the impossible, possible. I hope this series continues. At 61, I'm proud to be a follower of Tom, who's 62.'
While Paramount hasn't confirmed if The Final Reckoning is actually the franchise's final chapter, the title suggests a definitive end, and if that's the case, it seems Kojima is hoping it's more of a curtain call than a final bow, just like the rest of us.
In any case, you can always count on Kojima to spot the myth in the mayhem. Whether it's game design or movie-watching, the man operates on another frequency, and in this case, it's tuned squarely to Cruise's cinematic crusade.
So, according to Hideo Kojima, The Final Reckoning is the latest battle in Cruise's ongoing war to keep the lights on in the movie theater, and I kind of love that.

Here's where you can buy microSD Express cards for the Switch 2

All microSD cards look pretty much the same, but when it comes to buying the right one for your Nintendo Switch 2, only microSD Express cards will work for storing and playing games. The microSD card you used in your original Switch or Switch Lite will offer limited functionality with Nintendo's new handheld, as it will only let you view screenshots or video clips you captured previously — that's it. That's because Nintendo opted for a significantly faster spec in its new handheld console, which boasts an advertised 4.4x improvement in terms of transfer speeds over the microSD cards you might already have lying around. That improvement is signified by a small, easy-to-miss 'EX' emblem etched onto the front of the card. What's harder to miss is how much more expensive Express cards are, with some costing more than $50 for just 256GB of storage. The Switch 2 supports microSD Express cards up to 2TB in size, although 1TB is the largest capacity widely available (that's an overstatement, as many are sold out currently), with some cards selling for up to $200 a pop. Phew. I suppose it makes sense that they're pricier since they're classified as bonafide PCIe NVMe SSDs by the SD Association. Walmart's Onn label is a beacon of light, as its microSD Express cards are significantly cheaper than the competition, with its 512GB model costing $65.88 when it's in stock. Thankfully, since the Switch 2 has 256GB of built-in storage, you most likely won't need a microSD Express card immediately upon receiving your console. Getting a microSD card was a rite of passage with the original Switch since all versions, aside from the newer OLED edition that launched in 2021, came with just 32GB. If you're in the market for one of these pricier storage expansion cards ahead of the console's launch, we've listed the available options below.

Funny Honest Trailer For Disney's Live-Action SNOW WHITE — GeekTyrant

The gang at Screen Junkies has released a new Honest Trailer and this one hilariously pokes fun at Disney's awful live-action adaptation of Snow White , which, as you know, ended up bombing big time at the box office. The latest Honest Trailer pulls zero punches as it completely tears into Snow White, and the video came with the following note: 'The film that united the internet by making everyone mad for completely different reasons. So hold out your slop bucket, cause Disney is dishing out another soulless CGI-fueled nostalgia pile that literally no one asked for (but we all have strong opinions about regardless). Isn't cinema grand?' Enjoy the show!
