This Former Peloton Instructor Is Bringing A New Strength Program To A Major Fitness App
"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." Jennifer Jacobs is coming home. After leaving Peloton in 2019 following a three-year stint as an instructor, Jennifer is making a return—but not to Peloton, as some fans suspected. Instead, she is headed back to Ladder, the fitness platform she joined at its launch in 2020 and left in 2021. On June 23, she sparked speculation of a Peloton comeback by posting an Instagram video of herself walking toward a stationary bike, with a remark that she is 'coming home to the world's best fitness brand.' But the trainer is actually heading back to the workout platform Ladder. 'I've believed in Ladder since day one,' Jennifer exclusively tells Women's Health. Ladder initially reached out to her in 2020 after they launched, and she stayed a part of the brand into the following year. 'I was there at the beginning, and now I'm back because I know this is the best fitness brand in the world.' The decision to nod to her Peloton days in the marketing around her Ladder announcement was purposeful, she says. 'I am somebody who lives—I am bold, I am unapologetic,' she adds. The main goal of the videos was to bring her audience that's been with her since the start of her career to her next adventure, and spark some nostalgia. 'I care deeply and immensely for the communities I've helped build across other platforms,' she says. 'They're with me for the ride.' This isn't the first time Ladder has poked fun at Peloton. Back in December, Peloton announced their new strength training app, Peloton Strength+, which users online pointed out bore similarities to Ladder's app. Ladder responded with some tongue-in-cheek social media clips to address the buzz. Ladder has 17 different exercise programs, from kettlebell workouts to strength and conditioning sessions, with tons of coaches. Each coach runs a 'team,' and you can switch to a different team at any point in your journey. In 2020, Jennifer's team was called Team J Method, and it catered to the state of the fitness industry and the desire for accessible-at-home workouts during the COVID-19 with bodyweight moves and mini bands. But Jennifer left Ladder in 2021 when she had the opportunity to create an on-demand video program, which she says was one of her dreams in life, with BODi. (Her program was called Job1.) After that, she spent the last few years cultivating her own brand, The J Method. But then, she eventually decided her next move was to return to Ladder because she had stayed a member and loved what she saw them creating over the past four years. This time around, she reached out to the platform because she thought to herself, 'There's something here—they're on the cusp of something pivotal and I want to be a part of it,' she says. Ladder isn't just a library of workouts to Jennifer. 'I've had the incredible privilege of building fitness communities across some of the most recognized platforms, but there's something truly different about Ladder,' she says. 'It's headed towards smart, sustainable training that builds both strength and community' and replicates the feeling of one-on-one training, she describes. She also loves how the app keeps you motivated with features like streaks and milestones, making it fun to show up and feel a sense of achievement over again, creating those long-lasting results. Her new program is called Team Endure, and it's 'all about building lean defined muscle, but doing it in a way that fits your real life,' she says. The workouts will combine hypertrophy and aesthetic training with functional training 'so you're not just looking stronger but you're moving better,' she says. Her sessions will be 30 minutes or less and focus on efficiency and effectiveness so that you can get the best bang for your buck, whether you're a busy professional, parent, or you're just short on time. You can train with the program at home with dumbbells, or take it to the gym, she says—it's that flexible. And she recommends it for all levels: 'No matter where you're starting from, this program meets you where you're at and it evolves with you,' she says. 'It's about lasting results, not quick fixes.' She can't wait to get started and help people overcome barriers that prevent them from reaching their fitness goals through Ladder, which is making fitness accessible, effective, and inspiring. 'Making a huge career move for myself at this point in my life is a risk, but it's what I know will be such a reward,' she says. 'This isn't just a workout, this is a movement and we are just getting started. We can't wait to try your workouts, Jennifer!
