Parts of southern Portugal and Spain will be sweltering over the coming days.
Seville, a popular city-break destination, could reach 45C this weekend and early next week.
The capital of the Andalucía region will also see very high UV over the coming days.
The temperature in Albufeira and Faro in Portugal's popular Algarve is set to reach around 40C.
The Balearic Islands of Cabrera, Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca and Menorca, and the tourist hotspots of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Tenerife in the Canary Islands are due to be low to mid-30s.
TV weatherman Sean Batty has taken to social media to warn families of the toasty conditions.
He wrote: "With schools starting to break for summer, you might be heading for Spain soon — and it's going to be a very hot few days ahead.
"Inland southern Spain & Portugal could hit 45°C, while popular Costa spots and the Balearics (Ibiza, Menorca, Majorca) will be in the mid-30s."
Those among us who are not so keen of high temperatures will be pleased to know it will be milder at home in the coming days.
A weather front has brought rain throughout today with muggy conditions, but over the weekend it will clear for most places.
Golf ball-sized hail & raging wildfires spark chaos across Europe as killer heat dome looms
Saturday is set to be bright with some light showers in southern Scotland to start the day.
But the rain will give way to warm and sunny conditions, reaching 19-20C in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Aberdeen and Dundee are forecast to be 21-22C, while Inverness will be a cooler 19C.
Sunday will also be dry with a bright start to the day, lighter winds and temperatures will linger between the high teens and low 20s in most places.

Inside the new spa woodland pods that have opened in the UK that make you feel like you are abroad

Spa breaks at Moddershall Oaks also come with a two-course dinner PURE BLISS Inside the new spa woodland pods that have opened in the UK that make you feel like you are abroad Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) I HAVE been on more spa breaks than I care to admit – and I may have found a new favourite. Moddershall Oaks, a luxury spa set in glorious Staffordshire woodland, was just a ten-minute drive from Stoke-on-Trent. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Moddershall Oaks is a luxury spa set in glorious Staffordshire woodland 2 I get to try the new Golden Glow spa facial package But as we pulled up to this leafy, quiet spot, I knew the boutique size would mean fewer people and more peace, all for me. Family-owned, this spa hotel has just ten rooms in the main building, as well as 14 newly-added, luxury woodland pods dotted around the site. When staying in an overnight spa suite, you're greeted with a welcome drink on arrival and have access to facilities from 3pm until 4.30pm on your day of departure. First things first, we settle in our room, which has a patio looking out onto the stunning hills – and, lucky us, brilliant sunshine, too. My treatment is booked for 4pm and I get to try the new Golden Glow spa facial package. For 25 minutes, my skin is blessed with scrubs, a wild honey mask and calming oils, as well as a gentle head and shoulder massage, all to wash away life's stresses. I then rejoin my partner in the main spa area, where there is a hydrotherapy pool with heated tiled loungers, reflexology footbaths, a 10m pool and a steam room. The hydrotherapy pool certainly packs a punch, which makes a change from other spas I've been to where the pressure can be quite weak. What I love most is that it's not busy at all. I finish the indoor experience off with the toasty relaxation room where phones are not allowed, which I wholeheartedly welcome, so I'm forced to switch off. Colcot & Spa is great for families with playbarn and pools But there's lots more to explore outside, including a more bustling spa pool, access to a Kelo sauna and a gym. What made this retreat extra-special was the private outdoor heated spa pool. You get a 30-minute slot to yourselves, and there's even a button to request service. It's blissfully refreshing to sink into the warm bubbles as the spring air hits your freshly-treated face, with the evening sun slowly setting behind the distant trees. For a moment, I don't feel like I'm in the UK at all. The spa breaks at Moddershall Oaks also come with a two-course dinner – and it's not like any old set menu either. There's a huge selection of familiar favourites like beer battered fish and chips, but I've gone for the slow braised Staffordshire beef – the meat is so succulent and you can't go wrong with a massive Yorkshire pudding. We retire to our suite and the treats continue. Rooms feature plush furnishings with king-size or twin beds, a separate lounge or seating area and a private deck or patio so you can soak up the woodland and gardens. And the unique, hobbit-style woodland pods feature a circular design and round windows, with eco-friendly bubble spa showers and freestanding roll-top baths. After the best kip I've had in ages on the comfy bed, it's off to the restaurant for a hearty cooked breakfast. I've gone for eggs Benedict, which were done to perfection, while the other half stuck with a trusty full English, which didn't disappoint. Moddershall proved just the right combination of boutique luxury and peaceful retreat.

Mystery surrounds abandoned Maldives resort left to rot with decaying villas, filthy pools & dust-covered massage tables

The resort's origin was revealed in a tour of the haunting island Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) AN ABANDONED luxury resort rotting away in the Maldives with derelict villas and dirty pools has become shrouded in mystery. A decaying island within the holiday hotspot - which is usually known for its picturesque sights and tropical landscapes - holds a string of villas which have been left for dead. YouTube star Kale Brock revealed the mysterious area in a video posted to the social media site. The Australian said his group spotted the eerie location in the distance while on holiday with a tour guide in the Maldives - and convinced him to take them there. Extraordinary footage showed the group touring half-finished villas, as well as piles of debris and dilapidated bedrooms. Broken toilets stood aside heaps of rubbish at the swanky hotel surrounded by swathes of tropical forest. Unkempt pools overflowing with algae can also be seen alongside generators which haven't been powered in years. Brock told that the island was supposedly owned by a prominent Maldivian politician. And he said that construction on the resort reportedly started over a decade ago. The surfer and YouTuber said: "They were building for two years then for 'political reasons'. "We don't really know, ostensibly maybe they ran out of money." Abandoned EFL stadium left to rot with pitch covered in weeds just five years after hosting final match He explained: "They've literally abandoned the project… There's bathtubs in unopened but deteriorating boxes." Shocking footage also showed unopened spa equipment and massage tables - which were never used to accommodate visitors. A centrepiece pool filled with murky water and dead bits of plants is also seen on the resort. The only bit of life that can be seen is the lush palm trees which tower over the forgotten construction. In one eerie corner of the island, the group stumble across an old Mazda and Nissan — both caked in rust and clearly untouched for years. 8 A YouTuber explored inside the abandoned hotel and villas Credit: You Tube/Kale Brock 8 The old site was reportedly abandoned by a Maldivian politician Credit: You Tube/Kale Brock 8 The interiors were seen rotting away Credit: You Tube/Kale Brock They press on to a creepy generator room, lined with bizarre, old machines. Explorer Brock said the scenes reminded him of films like Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park, and Lost. Chilling footage showed the most harrowing part of the island, and its supposed crown jewels. Luxury overwater bungalows that were meant to rake in $5,000 a night sit completely empty, now just crumbling skeletons of wood and steel. Brock is also seen strolling along a half-destroyed concrete platform where a fancy boardwalk should have been if the project was finished. Peering out at the sea, Brock said: 'World-class lives one kilometre away.' 8 Shocking images show the dilapidated villas and unfinished walkways Credit: You Tube/Kale Brock

What does a 'heat dome' have to do with dogs wearing crocs?

Both the US and Europe have been hit by a naturally occurring weather phenomenon known as a heat dome, bringing record breaking temperatures as a result. A heat dome occurs when an area of high pressure forms over a large region. This can then act like a lid, preventing hot air from rising and gradually heating up the ground below it. The trapped hot air can also stop cloud formation, preventing rain and creating a drier environment than usual that exponentially increases the heat radiating from the ground. These occurrences can sometimes last for weeks with meteorologists describing the hot air as "self-perpetuating." Across Europe this has led to sweltering temperatures, with the UK experiencing its second official heatwave of the month. As temperatures climb past 30C this weekend, they're set to peak at 33C this coming Monday just as the Wimbledon tennis championship gets going. Throughout this heatwave the UK Health Security Agency has amber health alerts in place for much of the south and parts of the east. In mainland Europe health alerts are also in place as the effects of the European heat dome create potentially deadly consequences. In Greece a large wildfire broke out south of Athens on Thursday, triggering authorities to issue evacuation orders and shut down parts of the coastal road linking the Greek capital to Sounion, the location of the ancient Temple of Poseidon - a major tourist attraction. The fire came as temperatures approached 40C in Greece's first heatwave of the summer. On Friday, 12 water-dropping planes and 12 helicopters were providing air support to 130 firefighters, backed up by volunteer firefighters in the Palaia Fokaia seaside area south of Athens, according to fire department official Vassilis Vathrakogiannis. An orange warning level has been activated in Cordoba, Seville and Jaen, with temperatures in southern Spain expected to reach up to 43C in the following days. Authorities are calling for precautions such as hydration, avoiding exposure to the sun and not exercising during the hottest hours of the day. Parts of France have also been forecast to experience temperatures of 40C and over as the French meteorological organisation, météo France, extends the orange warning level for large parts of the country. Croatia also saw peak temperatures of 44C, with a red weather alert in place for parts of the country and popular destinations largely deserted as people shelter inside. In America dozens of people have been hospitalised after the East Coast was hit by its first heatwave of the Summer - caused by its own separate heat dome phenomenon. Temperatures reached close to 39C in Philadelphia and 37C in New York. In Washington DC a K-Pop concert ended early due to a range of heat-related incidents. In New York and Chicago several hospitals reported difficulty in maintaining power and air conditioning systems, with one utility company urging customers to conserve power to help prevent further outages. In Charlotte, North Carolina, temperatures were so hot during the FIFA Club World Cup, athletes had to watch their teams play from the locker room while on the substitute bench according to Bayern Munich who posted the update on X. Humans weren't the only ones coping with the extreme heat however. At the same Club World Cup, but this time in Philadelphia, drastic measures had to be taken to protect the feet of the four legged staff patrolling the stadium. The sniffer dogs at Lincoln Financial Field were kitted out with protective shoes to shield them from the scorching asphalt. Besides having their feet covered, the dogs are kept hydrated and limited to 20-minute patrols at a time. They also enjoy cooling baths in paddling pools filled with ice. 'Every dog team is different and there are different requirements; their precursors are different," said Cody Schwartz, manager of 3DK9 Detection Services, the private company providing the K9 teams at the stadium. "However, we go by the seven-second rule. If us humans can't put our human backside or our hand on the concrete for longer than seven seconds, without pulling it off, then we require dog booties to go on.' Otters at Oregon zoo keep cool in a bucket of ice. It's not just dogs either. In Oregon zoo the river otters were kept cool with a large bucket of ice. Four legs or two legs, the advice from health officials is to limit time spent in the direct sun where possible. Plan trips for cooler parts of the day and ensure you have enough water with you at all times. Whilst compared to its European neighbours the UK temperatures appear far lower, for those not prepared for the heat temperatures above 30C can pose a real risk especially for those already considered vulnerable like the sick or elderly.
