Maryam wants Sahulat Bazaars run on solar energy

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to operate the Sahulat Bazaars on solar energy.
According to an official statement, she called for early completion of preparations to open 13 new Sahulat Bazaars in the province by August 13.
The CM directed the authorities to set up the bazaars in Nowshehra Virkan, Burewala, Kabirwala, Sangla and Jalalpur, besides establishing additional markets in Bahawalpur, Attock and Murree.
The chief minister directed the district administrations to allocate land for the convenience markets.
She said, "Shifting to solar energy will reduce the electricity cost in the convenience markets by 70 per cent."
She highlighted, "Benefit of reduction in electricity cost will be delivered to the people."
A pilot project of switching a Sahulat Bazaar in the Township area in Lahore to solar energy has been completed.
She directed the relevant authorities to release more than Rs690 million for switching Sahulat Bazaars in the province to solar energy.
The chief minister directed the officials concerned to remove obstacles in the establishment of Sahulat Bazaars in Jhelum, Muzaffargarh and Narowal.
She called for completing the process of identifying land for the bazaars in Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Attock and Murree as soon as possible.
She said, "The aim of establishing Sahulat Bazaars is to provide food items to the members of down-trodden segments of society at low prices. Under the vision of Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, inflation is being eliminated."

LAHORE: 'Punjab can become a manufacturing hub for Middle East and Africa,' said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif during a meeting with Norihiko Ishiguro, Chairman of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). The CM invited Japanese investors and companies to manufacture and assemble products in Punjab. She invited Japanese investors to invest in Punjab's Special Economic Zones, and vowed to provide them free land in tax-free Special Economic Zones of Punjab. She also invited JETRO to start joint venture projects with private and public sector companies of Punjab. The Chief Minister said, 'Punjab is a big market from which Japanese investors can benefit.' She invited Japanese companies to build IT parks in Nawaz Sharif IT City, and discussed labour training and provision of trained and skilled manpower as per needs of companies in Japan. According to a message received here, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, 'Pakistan is a country with a majority of youth. We want Japanese companies to support us in making our youth skilled.' She also reviewed possibilities of increasing volume of bilateral trade. The Chief Minister briefed the head of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) about various lucrative investment opportunities in Punjab. She also apprised him of the progress of Nawaz Sharif IT City project, and said, 'Twin tower project under construction in Nawaz Sharif IT City will be completed very soon.' She added, 'World-acclaimed companies in the IT business are interested to start operations in Nawaz Sharif IT City.' She stressed upon the need to increase business to business contacts between Japan and Punjab. She said, 'We want to take Punjab to the heights of technology on the model of Japan. Punjab can provide surgical instruments, leather products and sports equipment to Japan. Punjab is interested in increasing volume of export of fine basmati rice to Japan.' LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif during her visit to the headquarters of Honda Company in Tokyo met company's Executive Vice President Noriya Kayahara. Matters pertaining to enhancing strategic cooperation between the Punjab government and Honda Company, local production and assembling of electric vehicles were discussed. Both agreed to benefit from the experiences of Japan, especially Honda, to make the youth skilled in this sector. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz informed him about the establishment of an EV depot for 1500 electric buses by the Punjab government in collaboration with the private sector. She while talking with the Executive Vice President of Honda company said that Honda's cooperation in promoting the culture of electric vehicles in Punjab will be appreciated. She said that Punjab has a great potential to become the largest market for electric vehicles. She highlighted, 'Punjab provides excellent investment opportunities, as it is an ideal location for assembling and manufacturing electric vehicles with skilled labour.' she outlined, 'We want to establish battery charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and bikes in urban and semi-urban areas of Punjab. We will welcome the collaboration of Honda Company for establishing state-of-the-art vehicle testing lab. The Punjab government is providing excellent incentives and opportunities to foreign investors.' She revealed, 'The Punjab government will start a new era by launching a high-speed train project between Lahore and Rawalpindi. The Tourist Glass Train project starting from Rawalpindi to Murree will promote tourism in the province.' She emphasized, 'We want to improve vehicle safety standards to reduce accidents.'
