Lawrence police searching for person accused of stabbing elderly woman
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Lawrence Police Department is attempting to locate the person who stabbed an elderly woman.
Lawrence police officers responded just before 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, to the 700 block of Beatnik Court, near E. 19th Street, where they found the victim inside a home with life-threatening injuries.
Police said the victim was alone; police were not able to provide significant details.
The victim was taken to a local trauma center, accompanied by an officer.
Lawrence police said they have no suspect information at this time.

Woman attacked for refusing to give up cellphone in subway station: NYPD
THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A woman was attacked after she refused to let a man use her cellphone inside a Bronx subway station on Monday, according to the NYPD. Police said it happened around 4:45 p.m. inside the East 182nd Street-183rd Street subway station. A 49-year-old woman was walking when she was approached by the suspect, who asked her if he could borrow her phone, according to authorities. More Local News Police said a fight broke out between the two. The suspect is accused of kicking the woman and stealing cash and her cellphone from her pocket, according to authorities. Police said the suspect fled the station. The woman was not injured in the attack, according to authorities. Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers. CRIME SCENE: Toronto woman charged with murder in stabbing of man
A 44-year-old Toronto woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a Feb. 21 fatal stabbing of a man. Toronto Police responded to a call for a stabbing at a residence in the Dovercourt Rod.-Geary Ave. area at 2:38 a.m. Cops said that when they arrived at the home, they found a man suffering from a stab wound and began life-saving measures. Police said the victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and on Feb. 24 he succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Paulo Mota, 38, of Toronto. His death marks Toronto's fourth homicide of 2025. On Sunday, Maria Rivero was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
