US Making BIG Strategic Mistake By Going To Bed With Pakistan: Ex-Diplomat Vikas Swarup Warns Trump

Time of India3 days ago
Calling it a 'strategic mistake,' former diplomat Vikas Swarup has slammed the US for warming up to Pakistan despite its alliance with China. He claimed Washington's ties with Islamabad are short-term and motivated by private financial gains, while India's partnership with the US remains strategic and future-focused. Swarup said Pakistan is panicking over India's decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty, given its dependence on these rivers. In response, Pakistan's army chief has issued threats to destroy dams and hinted at nuclear escalation, a tactic Swarup described as 'deliberate nuclear blackmail' aimed at drawing in foreign mediation. With India refusing to bow to pressure, the region faces a high-stakes standoff. #pakistan #unitedstates #asimmunir #donaldtrump #india #uspakistanrelations #indiapakistantensions #vikasswarup #chinapakistanaxis #induswatertreaty #nuclearblackmail #usforeignpolicy #indiausrelations #pakistanthreats #strategicmistake #breakingnews #trending #trendingnow #toi #bharat #toibharat #indianews

'State sponsor of terrorism': Ex-diplomat slams Pakistan; says Islamabad glorifying terrorists on I-Day

Representative image NEW DELHI: Former diplomat Veena Sikri has strongly criticised Pakistan for honouring terrorists during its Independence Day events, calling it yet another example of Islamabad's deep-rooted support for terror groups. Speaking to news agency ANI, Sikri described Pakistan as a 'terror monger' state and warned that India must remain alert. 'We have always said that Pakistan is a state sponsor of terrorism. It is a matter of great concern to India. And our Prime Minister has now declared the new normal that every act of terror will be considered an act of war. So this is a big warning to Pakistan,' Sikri was quoted as saying by ANI. She cautioned that Islamabad must not allow its army or groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba to operate, stressing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's words amount to a 'huge warning' against any further misadventure. "So I hope they will heed that warning. What they did on their own Independence Day on 14th August just proves the point. They have always been supporting terrorism. They have always been supporting terrorist groups, giving them money," she said. Sikri also alleged that Pakistan was using International Monetary Fund (IMF) funds to rebuild infrastructure destroyed during India's Operation Sindoor . 'They are now offered to build all their buildings which were destroyed during the Operation Sindoor with government money. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? In his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Modi hailed the success of Operation Sindoor and saluted the armed forces for striking terror camps in Pakistan. He recalled the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir where 'husbands were killed in front of their wives and fathers were killed in front of their children after asking their religion,' saying the operation was India's answer to such brutality. 'Our brave jawans punished the enemy beyond its imagination,' PM Modi said from the Red Fort. The Prime Minister also underlined that Operation Sindoor had inflicted 'heavy losses' on Pakistan and marked a new phase in India's fight against cross-border terrorism. Rejecting Islamabad's 'nuclear blackmail,' he reaffirmed that India would retaliate decisively against any future attacks. PM Modi further criticised the Indus Water Treaty , calling it 'unjust and one-sided,' and declared that 'blood and water cannot flow together,' promising India's farmers full rights over the country's river waters.

Fanaticism creating communal divisions in India, says Sanjay Raut

Nashik: Shiv Sena(UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Friday accused the BJP of making the country 'fanatical' about religion after it came to power in 2014, and said that this is creating communal divisions, which is very dangerous for the country's independence. Raut also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his call for Swadeshi and self-reliance, reminding him that the slogan of Swadeshi was a gift from the Congress party. The Shiv Sena(UBT) leader spoke to reporters after PM Modi's Independence Day speech from the ramparts of Red Fort, on a range of issues, including Operation Sindoor, Indus Water Treaty, Pakistan-sponsored terror activities and Swadeshi. Raut argued that when PM Modi keeps on asking what the Congress party has given, he should understand that the slogan of Swadeshi was given in this country by the Congress party. 'Mahatma Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak, and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru gave it. That is why Khadi came to the country, the Gandhi cap came. One day, Narendra Modi will give a speech wearing a Gandhi cap. Modi has become a Congressman today. He has become a Nehruvian and a Gandhian,' he claimed. Referring to PM Modi's subtle warning to the US and Pakistan, Raut said that PM Modi does not warn anyone by taking anyone's name, as he does not have that much courage. 'PM Modi should name the US President Trump (after his retaliatory tariff) or Pakistan. Take the name of the enemy. Trump is sitting there and repeatedly issuing threats and ultimatums. He is abusing the country every day. He is abusing and insulting the PM, so he should name him. Why is he ashamed and afraid to take the name?' he asked. He added that instead of blaming former PM Jawaharlal Nehru, an architect of India's development, PM Modi should directly name the US, China and Pakistan. 'It is very easy to warn Pakistan. But China is behind Pakistan. How can PM Modi forget that Trump is behind General Munir? He should not make false speeches from the Red Fort. Pakistan's Army Chief Munir threatens us. Trump invited Munir to a dinner at the White House. Did Trump invite the Indian Army Chief? PM Modi should take on Trump. It is not enough to just warn Pakistan but also China,' said Raut. He criticised several policies of the Modi government, alleging that the country has gone into a pit after 2014. He slammed the government's foreign policy, saying that it is easy to curse Pakistan.
