CUET-UG aspirants face glitches, server errors, delays on exam day
Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET UG) centres across the country on Monday saw aspirants and parents lined up outside the gates as the exam faced delays of up to an hour due to technical glitches and server errors.
The first shift of CUET-UG was scheduled to begin at 9am. Ahead of the exam, centres put up notices announcing the delay, leading to delayed entry of students inside the centres.
'Due to some technical glitches there will be an undefined delay in entry. Once the issue is resolved, all candidates will be permitted to enter. It's a pan-India issue. Your cooperation is highly essential,' the notices said.
Rana Pratap Singh, parent of a CUET aspirant, said that a large crowd of restless parents and students gathered at the Pataliputra centre in Patna before 7am, as they heard of technical glitch. 'But later, everything settled as the problem was sorted out,' he added.
Another parent, Neelam Kumari, said that she, along with her daughter, reached the CUET exam centre, Ion Digital Zone in Azara, Guwahati at 7.45am. However, students were not allowed to enter the exam centre until 9.30am. 'The security guard at 9.15am announced that the reason behind the delay was a technical glitch. However, at 9.30am, students were allowed to enter the exam centre to sit for the exam.'
While officials from the National Testing Agency, which conducts the exam, did not respond to HT's requests for comments, a person managing one of the exam centres said that the hour-long delay was caused due to technical errors in NTA servers.
'There was no problem in the exam process except the entry in the exam hall,' Suryoday Singh, owner of AIIT and management college in Prayagraj, which holds the exam, said.
An observer, an individual appointed by the NTA to oversee the fair and smooth conduct of the exam at a test center, for the CUET-UG in Bihar said that there was some pan-India technical issue, but it was resolved well in time.
'The exams are from May 13 to June 6, and due to a delay in the morning, the students were concerned, but it was resolved,' said the official, who did not want to be quoted.
CUET UG 2025 will be conducted by NTA till June 3 in computer-based mode. The exam is being held in three shifts daily: 9-10am, 12-1pm, and 3-4pm, covering 37 subjects including 13 languages, 23 domain-specific subjects, and one general test. The test is available in 13 languages and is a key requirement for undergraduate admissions in central, state, and participating universities.

Madras HC Rejects NEET 2025 Re-Exam pleas, Clears Way For Result Declaration
Last Updated: The Madras High Court has cleared the way for the declaration of NEET UG 2025 results by dismissing pleas that sought to stop it due to power outages at Chennai centres. The Madras High Court on Friday cleared the path for the declaration of NEET (UG) 2025 results by dismissing a batch of petitions that sought to restrain the National Testing Agency (NTA) from releasing the results, as reported by news agency PTI. The petitions, filed by S Sai Priya and 15 other students, requested the court to direct the NTA to conduct a re-examination for candidates who experienced power outages at four exam centres in Chennai during the test. Dismissing the plea, Justice C Kumarappan said, 'In the present case, I find no mala fide intent on the part of the respondents. Nationwide, approximately 22 lakh students appeared for the NEET (UG) 2025. Allowing a re-exam based on such localised and minor disruptions would undermine the level playing field for millions of candidates." The court, therefore, found no merit in the writ petitions. Previously, on May 17, a vacation bench had issued an interim order restraining the NTA from declaring the results, in response to the alleged difficulties caused by the power disruption. In his detailed ruling, Justice Kumarappan noted, 'The petitioners primarily argue that due to power failure, lighting conditions were inadequate at the centres, creating a distracting atmosphere that affected their focus and performance." The judge emphasised that the disruption was due to unexpected rain and storm. Supporting the NTA's stance, the court observed that the exam was held during daylight hours—between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM—ensuring sufficient natural light. 'When the NTA, following field verification and applying scientific methods, has concluded that no re-examination is necessary, such a decision should be respected unless proven to be influenced by mala fides," Justice Kumarappan added. NEET PG 2025 Exam on August 3 The Supreme Court on Thursday gave permission to the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to hold the NEET-PG 2025 exam on August 3. The court said it was satisfied that the reasons given by the NBE for choosing this date were genuine. Earlier, on May 30, the court had ruled that the exam must be held in a single shift instead of two. Because of this change, the NBE asked for more time to make new arrangements, which the court has now allowed. First Published: June 06, 2025, 19:33 IST
