Tom Curry limps off with hamstring injury — one day after Lions call
Just one day after Andy Farrell included Tom Curry in his British & Irish Lions squad, the Sale Sharks flanker limped off with a hamstring injury against Leicester Tigers, who moved closer to a home play-off with a remarkable victory.
With 42 days until the Lions' first match, Curry had to go off in the 23rd minute of a frantic first half to be replaced by his brother Ben and Alex Sanderson, the Sale director of rugby, revealed that he had played on for ten minutes with the injury. Jack Grealish needs regular football for World Cup consideration
Thomas Tuchel loves Jack Grealish but says the out-of-favour Manchester City star needs to find regular football to force his way back into the England reckoning ahead of the World Cup. The 29-year-old has found minutes hard to come by at the Etihad Stadium this season and been overlooked for both squads since the German coach took charge. Tuchel said he loved Grealish's personality, courage and quality after leaving him out in March due to a lack of game-time, with the attacking midfielder making just six City appearances since then. City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to leave the former Aston Villa player out of his Club World Cup squad and a summer exit appears on the cards. England boss Tuchel said: 'My thoughts are still the same. I love Jack for his personality and of course his talent. 'He is a very unique player who can handle big pressure on the field. He is never shy of pressure. It's the opposite. 'He grows in big matches but he's a player who needs minutes and minutes and minutes and simply does not get them for a very long time. That's basically everything. Nothing has changed. 'I have maybe the same information as you that City are thinking of not taking him to the Club World Cup, so he needs to make himself available by playing. I think it's one of his key strengths. 'To go every three days and get better and better with every minute that he has in his legs – that's what is missing, nothing else. 'I have spoken to him after the first international camp and very shortly after the FA Cup final but not since then.' There are no City players in England's squad for June's double-header, but nine of the group are heading to the Club World Cup. Tuchel said he was not overthinking that aspect and, just like he did at the squad announcement, stressed that international matters took precedence. Asked if clubs had requested players did not feature in both Saturday's qualifier against Andorra and the Senegal friendly on Tuesday, he said: 'No one has asked me that question. 'I said also many times, I was like 15 years I think in club football, I think I have never asked an international coach what to do and how to use the players. 'But it can also happen that some players start twice for us, but like I said, we also have an interest to see a lot of players in these two matches, so I think we will not in the end upset anyone.' Another player heading to the Club World Cup is Liam Delap, who is going there with new club Chelsea rather than leading the line for England Under-21s at the Euros. 'It would have been nice for him and for the FA for him to play a big tournament, but that's nowadays football,' said Tuchel, who may not risk Bukayo Saka against Andorra as he recovers from a knock. 'There are some rules and its club first. It would have been nice to do the 21s and would have been nice to see him lead the under-21s as the main striker.'

Kasey McAteer scores as Republic of Ireland and Senegal play out draw in Dublin
Kasey McAteer scored his first international goal for the Republic of Ireland as they played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Senegal in Dublin. The Irish delivered a performance full of industry in their first-ever encounter with the Senegalese at the Aviva Stadium. Leicester's McAteer and Ipswich's Jack Taylor made their first starts for Ireland with head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson looking at his options ahead of the beginning of the World Cup qualifying campaign in September. Senegal, ranked 19th by FIFA, some 41 places higher than the Republic, named an experimental side with only two starters remaining from their recent World Cup qualifying win over Togo. The west African side started brightly, controlling possession in the early stages and keeping the pressure on Ireland with two corners. However, Ireland grew in stature throughout the first half and opened the scoring through McAteer in the 21st minute when Senegal failed to clear a corner. Ryan Manning crossed and Nathan Collins headed it on to McAteer. His initial header was wonderfully saved by Yehvann Diouf, but the forward kept his composure to control the rebound and fire it home. The Irish stayed on the front foot for the rest of the half, showing good energy as they moved the ball quickly between defence and attack, seeming to rattle the Senegalese, who were defending a 20-match unbeaten run. The second half started in similar positive fashion for Ireland and Southampton's Will Smallbone should have doubled their lead but shot straight at the keeper. Ryan Manning attempted to fire in the rebound but it was brilliantly blocked by Mendy. With the game opening up, Senegal almost equalised moments later when Kelleher got the faintest of touches onto Krepin Diatta's header which crashed against the crossbar. After the hour mark, both sides made a series of changes, with Senegal introducing promising 21-year-old Lamine Camara, who has already played in the Champions League for Monaco, and Crystal Palace's FA Cup winner Ismaila Sarr. Camara almost made an immediate impact when his shot was deflected onto a post before being scrambled away by Kelleher. The threat from Senegal grew as the game wore on. However Ismail Jakob's ambitious effort to score from outside the box sailed high over the bar. The Irish invited pressure by defending deeper late in the second half. McAteer, who had run tirelessly throughout, was replaced in the 80th minute as was Smallbone as the Republic turned towards fresh legs. However, Senegal's pressure told when substitute Sarr poked home in the 82nd minute shortly after Kelleher had saved with his feet. Senegal had a free-kick on the edge of the box deep in injury time as tempers flared between the two teams, but Camara failed to get it over the defending wall. The match did not have the feel of a friendly as both Ireland and Senegal went for the win, but ultimately both will be satisfied with the draw.
