A MAN has tragically died in a horror blaze at a four-storey building.
Around 40 people were forced to leave their homes after the fire broke out in Perth in the early hours of Saturday.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene, on Scott Street, while an eight-year-old girl and a 27-year-old man were taken to hospital for treatment.
Two firefighters also sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.
Police Scotland Chief Superintendent Nicola Russell, Divisional Commander for Tayside, said: 'Our thoughts are with all those affected by this incident.
'Investigations are at a very early stage to establish the full circumstances of what has happened.

"We are conducting a joint investigation with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service."
First Minister John Swinney, the MSP for Perthshire North, wrote on social media: "Terribly sorry to hear of the death of a man in the fire in Scott Street, Perth.
"I express my sympathy to his family.
"Concerned also for the condition of those who are receiving hospital treatment.

Kinross Council Deputy Leader, Councillor Eric Drysdale, added: "I would like to send sincere condolences to the family and friends of the man who has tragically lost his life in this incident.
"My thoughts are also with all the other people who have been affected by this very serious fire. "
"I wish to praise the significant immediate response from all the first responders and especially our brave firefighters who hurried towards this major fire and put their lives at risk to rescue occupants from the building and tackle the blaze."

The blaze was discovered by police officers patrolling the area at around 1.50am.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service were also alerted and raced to the scene.
Neighbouring blocks of flats were evacuated, with residents being supported by partner agencies.
Deputy Assistant Chief Officer Andy Girrity of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: 'On arrival, firefighters found the roof of a four-storey residential building well alight.

"Initially, three appliances were mobilised, but due to the severity of the blaze and structural collapses, a total of twelve appliances were involved at the height of the incident.
'Five casualties, including one firefighter injured by falling masonry, were passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
'The incident has now been scaled back, and two appliances and one height vehicle remain on scene to dampen down hot spots.'
Road closures remain in place at Scott Street and South Street, with members of the public asked to avoid the area.

A temporary airspace restriction has also been put place for the Scott Street and South Street areas of Perth until Wednesday.
The restrictions include drones. Cops said anyone found in breach could be committing a criminal offence.
A rest centre for evacuated residents has also been set up at the Salutation Hotel.
Those displaced have been promised "suitable alternative accommodation" in addition to food, clothes, replacement medication, toiletries, toys and help with their pets.

When a person is incapable of dealing with their financial affairs and they do not have a guardian or power of attorney, an 'appointee' is allocated to receive benefits on their behalf. New legislation was passed that states Social Security Scotland is legally required to carry out face-to-face checks on those who have been deemed unable to mange their own money and their appointee. However, new figures released under freedom of information legislation show just 8600 recipients out of 33,000 have so far received in-person checks. Of those DWP appointees who have been checked, nearly one in four were found to be capable of managing their own benefits. The result is people who are capable of managing their financial affairs are being denied access to their own money. A total of 138 were found to have unsuitable appointees. A review of failings by Inverclyde Council made recommendations on how authorities monitor people with learning disabilities, including that appointees should be monitored. Guardians, who are appointed by a judge, must file accounts for how any money is spent and their position is reviewed every three years. The use of an appointee is easier and quicker because appointeeship has far less oversight and is not regularly reviewed. Previously, personal independence payment (PIP) was administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) but the benefit was one of a number of disability benefits devolved to Social Security Scotland. The benefit was renamed Adult Disability Payment (ADP) when it was transferred to Scotland. Concerns about the limited safeguards in the appointeeship system were raised by MSPs and steps taken to improve safety. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Statutory guidelines state that SSS staff must see a benefits recipient face-to-face to directly determine whether or not they are incapacitated. The person should be asked who they want as their appointee and that person's suitability is then cross checked with others. Scotland's rules are now - on the face of it - far more robust than the DWP's, meaning all new clients being transferred from the DWP to SSS need to be assessed. Yet the figures show these checks are not happening. It is understood that the number of staff tasked with carrying out these checks has been drastically reduced, leading to a backlog of tens of thousands of cases. Mr Stewart added: 'It's all very well Social Security Scotland having safeguards to protect the most vulnerable, but if the SNP government is starving its quango of the resources needed to carry out these face-to-face checks with every disabled person affected, they are not fit for purpose. 'It's vital that SNP ministers work with Social Security Scotland to ensure that they have the necessary staff to implement these vital safeguards.' Cops and ambulance crews were summoned to the scene on Friday after hundreds of mourners had paid their respects to Gordon who died in a fatal bike crash. The violence exploded amid an ongoing feud between the two mobs after a former BA boss Dan Laponder, 44, jumped ship to the new Mad Dog crew. A source said: 'A load of Blue Angels showed up at the funeral to attack Mad Dogs members. 'They obviously knew they were going to be there but to do something like this at a man's funeral is as low as it gets.' Three men aged 30, 44 and 65 were rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries' as cops launched a probe into the sickening attacks. Earlier hundreds of bikers were pictured escorting Gordon's funeral cortege as they paid their respects following his death in a motorcycle accident near Loch Lomond on Saturday, July 12. After the heartbreaking news of his death, a loved-one wrote: 'He was, without doubt, my absolute hero growing up. Big, strong, fearless, took no prisoners. And a damn fine musician. I loved him so much.' A funeral notice reveals talented musician and passionate biker Gordon had asked mourners not to wear formal funeral attire but casual colourful clothes or bike gear. Video shared on social media by Motorcycle Law Scotland shows more than 500 bikers slowly making their way to the crematorium. Biker gang boss blames Blue Angels 'snitch' for jail stretch as video lifts lid on feud They later attended the Clippens Inn, Linwood, where band Thunder Road played a gig to celebrate Gordon's life as many posted tributes online. One pal said: 'The most amazing and crazy man that was and always will be the one and only 'Gordon Luke'. Unique, mad, kind, caring, loved and hugely respected by the community of Linwood, and the biker world alike.' Another added: 'Brilliant send off for a brilliant guy.' Another biker pal wrote: 'Great send off for big Gordon Luke. Was an honour to be part of it. A true legend.' We told of an ongoing feud between rival biker gangs has been raging for months in the wake of high-ranking BA member Laponder leaving the mob and setting Mad Dogs. We told how heavily-tattooed Laponder blamed a 'snitch' in his old crew after being caged for bombing a rival's dad's works van in Lennoxtown, Dunbartonshire, in June last year. ATTACK AFTER CRASH ORDEAL By Graham Mann GORDON Luke previously told of being attacked by a mob who burst into his home. The then 64-year-old told The Scottish Sun how he feared for his life when three blade thugs pounced in Linwood, near Paisley. Amputee Gordon - who had lost a leg in a March 2018 bike accident - thought he was a goner when the maniacs booted in his front door. Gordon said in September that year: 'I thought I was going to die. I was terrified. 'They were trying to get to me with knives. There's not much I could do because I'm vulnerable.' The biker club founder said they showed up after he was mugged by two crooks who'd offered to help with his shopping. He added: 'I'd bumped into the people who stole the money and said I wanted it back. 'My biker friends warned them to stay away then I heard kicking at the door. 'To do that to someone in a wheelchair is repulsive.' Tensions had earlier boiled when a 20-strong mob wrecked a motorbike garage in November 2023. An insider claimed Laponder then opted to switch sides as a pal was one of two men left with horror injuries in the ambush at Totally Spanners in Glasgow's Hillington. Our source said in December: 'Dan looked at who was running about with him and decided he'd had enough.' Police Scotland said: 'Around 3pm on Friday officers were called to a report of a disturbance in the Glasgow Road area of Hurlet, Glasgow. 'Emergency services attended and a 30-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries. 'Two other men, aged 44 and 65, were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, both with serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.'

Heartbroken family pay tribute to "beloved" Scots dad killed in ambulance crash
"He is a much loved brother to Mhairi and Alan, and caring uncle to Rhys, Eryn, Owen and Jack, he'll be sorely missed by us all'. The heartbroken family of a "beloved" Scots dad who died in a horror crash involving an ambulance have paid tribute to their loved one. Emergency services raced to the A98 near Buckie at around 6.50am on Monday, 11 August after receiving reports of a two vehicle smash involving a blue Renault Megane and an Ambulance. Police and ambulances attended the scene but tragically 36-year-old Alistair J Stewart from Ardersier was pronounced dead. His heartbroken family have said he will be "sorely" missed by all. They said: 'Alistair was a welder at Forsyths Buckie, he was born in Inverness in November 1988 and then brought up in Ardersier and attended Culloden Academy. He attended Global Highland Skills Academy to be trained as a welder. 'He married Mikaela in July 2022 following an 11-year relationship and became a stepdad to Grace and Leon and Grandad to baby Finn. He was a loving husband. Alistair was a beloved son to Grace and Neil Stewart, of Ardersier. "He is a much loved brother to Mhairi and Alan, and caring uncle to Rhys, Eryn, Owen and Jack, he'll be sorely missed by us all'.
