Foreign minister, UAE counterpart discuss humanitarian efforts for Gaza
AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Saturday received a phone call from UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss ongoing efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. The ministers discussed ways to intensify joint efforts to ensure the sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-torn Strip, both through land crossings and coordinated airdrop operations in cooperation with several partner countries. Jordan and the UAE have previously conducted a joint airdrop of humanitarian aid over Gaza, in cooperation with France, Germany, and Spain, according to a Foreign Ministry statement. The two top diplomats also stressed the urgent need to open all border crossings to facilitate the immediate and sufficient flow of humanitarian aid into all parts of Gaza, emphasising that airdrops cannot replace the scale and effectiveness of land-based deliveries. The two ministers also reiterated the importance of unified efforts to reach an immediate and lasting ceasefire, implement a prisoner exchange agreement, and ensure the sustained entry of adequate humanitarian relief into the besieged territory, which is facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe amid ongoing Israeli aggression. They also reaffirmed their countries' commitment to continued joint humanitarian action in Gaza and highlighted the strong, historic ties between Jordan and the UAE, as well as the shared vision of both leaderships to expand cooperation across all fields.
