Sara Ali Khan walks the ramp for Aisha Rao at FDCI India Couture Week 2025
It is this very wildness, the sheer force of fantasy, memory, and the power of possibility that finds its fullest expression in Aisha Rao's latest collection. Wild at Heart is a love letter to nature in all its untamed glory; a maximalist ode to the wilderness, wrapped in metallics, softened with whimsy, and structured with intention. It is a sanctuary imagined, a moment suspended between memory and fantasy, a riot of flora that knows no bounds.
At its core, Wild at Heart is an invitation: to live a little louder, to wear your joy like second skin, and to turn everyday moments into visual poetry.
The collection borrows from the lush vocabulary of the natural world - banana leaves, lotus blooms, palms kissed with light filtered through the lens of Aisha Rao's signature known for its fantasy-driven appliqué and surrealist storytelling.
Each piece has structure and softness, geometry and garden, drapes that flirt with tradition, blazers with a sense of theatre, and patterns that feel like the dream you didn't want to wake up from. The silhouettes are sharp but soft.
The textures, richer than ever before. Think hand-drawn florals set against architectural tailoring. Delicate embroidery meeting exaggerated forms. Appliqué that moves like memory. And underneath it all, a quiet strength.
Showstopper, Sara Ali Khan said, 'I've always been drawn to pieces that tell a story, and this look really does that for me. I'm wearing the rose gold Banarasi tissue brocade lehenga with intricate appliqué, detailed in geometric checks and whimsical florals with beads and crystals embroidery by Aisha, and what I love about it is how light and effortless it feels. Every detail is so thoughtfully done… It's playful, graceful, and beautifully made. I'm so glad I get to wear something that feels so me today. Thanks, Aisha.'
Couturier, Aisha Rao, said, 'Presenting our debut couture collection at India Couture Week has been nothing short of a dream.
Wild at Heart is deeply personal, an expression of fantasy, freedom, and everything we love about maximalism. We're incredibly grateful for the platform, for the collaborators who believed in the vision, and for the chance to reimagine bridal and occasion wear on such a grand, storied stage.'
The show space was imagined in collaboration with Kohler, who brought its signature colours - Teakberry, Lush Green and Brushed Rose Gold into the collection.
Towering gold palms rose against sculptural forms in these rich hues, a deliberate collision of tropical abandon and slow luxury. It was indoor meets outdoor. Earth meets imagination. A reminder that contrast is not chaos, it's character.
In a special collaboration for the show, Aisha Rao partnered with SHREE Jewellers to create an exclusive capsule of fine jewellery that extended the collection's fantastical spirit. Delicate yet dramatic, the pieces featured a thoughtful interplay of diamonds, rose cuts, baguettes, and briolettes, all infused with colour in keeping with Aisha's signature palette.
This was jewellery imagined not as accessory, but as narrative, sculptural forms and heritage echoes that mirrored the collection's blend of maximalism and meaning.

Patola, but make it steel: Rimzim Dadu just did that and how
Although Rimzim Dadu has been a force in Indian fashion for over 17 years, it was only in 2023 that she brought her signature molten magic to India Couture Week. At India Couture Week 2025, her show is one of the most talked-about at the annual fashion credit goes to her mastery in transforming unconventional materials like steel, silicon, paper, metal wires, and razor-thin cords into wearable couture. Her creations shimmer like metal but move like fabric, making them instantly is achieved through a labour-intensive process of disintegrating a material, stripping it into wires (almost like yarn), working on it to give movement and softness, and finally weaving it back together to create art couture. At the recently concluded Hyundai India Couture Week 2025, Dadu took things a step further. She unveiled a collection that reimagined Gujarat's traditional Patola weave through her signature metallic textile techniques. Patola saree, reimagined using steel textile, by designer Rimzim Dadu. Models walked the ramp in saris and bandhgalas featuring bold, geometric Patola motifs. Rimzim Dadu used her signature cording technique to craft edgy sarees with structured pallus that echoed the intricacy of the traditional weave. Male models rocked kurta sets layered with jackets - her contemporary interpretation of Patola. From Rimzim Dadu's show at India Couture Week 2025. 'We draw inspiration from amazing textiles like the Patola and Jamdani, but we don't copy them. We reimagine them in our textiles and try to give them a new perspective, which you will see plenty of in this collection,' Dadu told India Today in an interview Oxynn, her new collection, she drew inspiration from Gujarat's Banjara tribes: their mirrored textiles, bold weaves, and oxidised jewellery. Some pieces, like showstopper Khushi Kapoor's silver blouse and skirt, were inspired by the intricate links of traditional payals to echo the raw elegance of Banjara jewellery in a bold, modern form. Khushi Kapoor turned showstopper for Rimzim Dadu. Rimzim Dadu's signature steel saree, which first gained attention when Sonam Kapoor wore it at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016, continues to evolve with each collection. This time, she introduced drapes and pallus featuring intricate cutwork paisley patterns. Drapes and pallus at the Rimzim Dadu's show. Another reason why Rimzim Dadu's ICW 2025 show stood out was her not entirely bogging down to the wedding wear dominance. For the sarees and lehengas – that, must we add, are a huge hit among modern brides for cocktails and wedding reception events, the designer showcased non-wedding couture pieces like sculptural harem pants, corsets, mini dresses and blazer sets. Rimzim Dadu presented a bevy of silhouettes. You can't miss this look, featuring sheer black stocking elevated with Dadu's metallic paisley motif! Punk meets Patola, we say! A standout look from the show. The designer's focus on footwear and bags was a scene-stealer, and also an extension of her art-like clothes. The accessories! advertisementThough Rimzim Dadu launched her label in October 2007, initially under the name My Village (later shortened to Rimzim Dadu), she has consistently made uniqueness and textile innovation the core of her brand from the start. Year after year, she continues to evolve her design language without ever losing its essence.- Ends

5 iconic fashion movies that shaped our childhoods
Whether you grew up watching India Couture Week on television, or salivating over Dior's latest fall collection through mall windows, pop culture has done a great job of fanning the flames of our love for all things fashion and beauty from time immemorial. Whether it's polka dots and puffed up coiffs, Carrie Bradshaw's iconic John Galliano newspaper dress or Jodha Akbar's exquisite costumes, movies and television have stolen our fashion forward hearts a little too often. Keeping that in mind, here's a quick look at 5 iconic films that have shaped the popular fashion scene since their release: Inspired by Jane Austen's novel Emma, Aisha charts the story of a rich Delhi-based girl who lives a superficial lifestyle. The film was recognized for introducing major fashion brands like Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Dior, L'Oreal Paris and Salvatore Ferragamo to Indian audiences and was registered as one of the most loved fashion movies of Bollywood. Sonam Kapoor's friend Pernia Qureshi took charge of defining the looks and did a fabulous job in brining iconic fashionable avatars on the reel screen. Astute in its fashion aesthetics and global in its appeal, Aisha turned out to be a game changer in every aspect. When you think Breakfast at Tiffany's, you think a classic black dress and chunky shades, pearl necklaces and a large sunhat. From kitten heels to ballet flats, and her signature voluminous 'Audrey chignon,' a classic French Twist, Hepburn's romantic drama redefined cocktail chic forever, throwing in a lazy moodboard for socialites and upper class elites. Anne Hathaway's iconic montage as she walks to work and her ensembles change everyday? A classic for fashion enthusiasts worldwide. And we can promise you, after that scathing lesson by Miranda Priestly, you would never mess up between lapis, turquoise and cerulean blue – like ever! Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion revealed some murkier truths of the industry through the lens of its lead characters — models trying to make it in the gritty, glitzy world of fashion. From a city girl to a supermodel, Priyanka Chopra's outfits matched well to her transcending character of Meghna Mathur. Be it her small-town attire or glittering silhouettes on the runway, her stylists and designers breathed life into her role through their realistic and relatable Bollywood costumes. A shopaholic navigating the world of runway couture while trying to survive on a journalist's salary? Confessions of a Shopaholic was a cult classic film that not only introduced us to the dreamy Hugh Dancy, but also important finance lessons holding the hands of a 'desperately important green scarf'.

Ideas to dazzle in night-sky inspired fashion
We've just about said goodbye to the 18th edition of the India Couture Week but there's some hangover in terms of the colours that shone brilliantly through the week-long affair. While there was a generous sprinkling of reds – per usual – the colour palette that caught our eye was of deep purples, shimmering blacks, and midnight blues. Colours one naturally associates with the night sky. Designer Amit Aggarwal's imaginative collection, Arcanum, was a palette of metallic greens, blues and blacks, and Rahul Mishra's collection sparkled like stars you'd see on a clear night. Another element that stood out among all the lehengas and sherwanis was of structured design that lent clothes a certain edginess that's hard to ignore. Taking off from these two ideas, Lounge's compilation for the week shows you how to dazzle in structured fashion that's awash in dreamy shades of the night sky. THE BIG CURVE The distinctive flap in this Loewe bag juxtaposed with a curved body lends definition to this soft, lightweight handbag from Loewe. Besides, the combination of deep burgundy and the gold of the statement donut chain make it an accessory you want to carry around town when the night is still young. Available on ₹2.75 lakh. PURPLE FLAIR This purple off-the-shoulder gown from label Amit Aggarwal instantly conjures up images of the twilight sky lit up in ethereal purple shades. Handcrafted using mineral jersey and butterfly net, the floor-skimming dress features a flared metallic skirt. The sculpted silhouette of the dress that starts off sharp and ends with that generous flair is another reason why it's a winner. Available on ₹2.95 lakh. ABSTRACT CUT Handcrafted in structured crepe, this sculpted jacket from Bloni gets its signature look from the monochrome bleed effect achieved through tie-dye. While the defined shoulders lend an element of assertiveness, the pattern looks like something born from the moon light and darkness bleeding into each other. Available on ₹79,000. STING ENERGY This jellyfish-shaped pendant from Afew Rahul Mishra is gilded and hammered in golden recycled brass and adorned with pearl and ball chains. The solidity of the design makes it a statement accessory that would go well with dresses in dark shades like black, deep green, purple or plum red. Available on ₹17,900. WING AWAY This black mini dress from label Pankaj & Nidhi features sculpted wing sleeves that make it look a tad alien-esque and we are here for it. The halterneck dress is adorned all over with intricate cutdana work and all we want to say is, 'yes, give us LBDs that are bold and outré". Available on ₹1.58 lakh. FLAPPER GIRL This Oscar de la Renta dress seems like it walked straight out of a flapper era party. The statement cocktail dress features all-over gold paillette embroidery and velvet shoulder straps. BE A LI'L EXTRA Black with a touch of blue, here are derby shoes for the next cool do. The 'Obliq' derby shoes by indie label Jeetinder Sandhu are crafted from semigloss leather and feature an extended leather midsole with handknit strap detailing.
