TGL Week 6: Ludvig Åberg leads The Bay past Justin Thomas, Atlanta Drive after Genesis Invitational win
Ludvig Åberg didn't waste any time after his win at Torrey Pines on Sunday.
After taking a jet across the country almost immediately after winning the Genesis Invitational in Southern California, Åberg helped lead The Bay GC to a dominant win over Justin Thomas and Atlanta Drive GC in the second of three TGL matches on Monday.
The Bay held on to grab a 6-5 win in their first match of the day on Monday in Florida, part of a special Presidents Day triple-header. That followed Thomas' wild overtime rally that he sealed with a chip-in to beat Los Angeles Golf Club.
The Bay jumped to a 3-0 lead almost immediately, thanks in part to a clutch chip-in from Min Woo Lee on the fourth hole. That actually came after a timeout on the green when they forgot to bring a club up.

While Atlanta responded on the fifth, thanks to a 13-footer from Thomas after a hammer was thrown, Lucas Glover missed a perfect opportunity to win the hammer on the next hole and suddenly take the lead. Glover responded on the ninth to close out triples with a chip-in of his own, however, which kept their deficit at one as they entered singles. That chip-in sent Thomas rolling backward on the green in celebration, too.

The Bay finally pulled ahead on the 13th after Clark won via a hammer throw and then Åberg dropped another dart on the par-3 14th. He was just inches away from an ace, which would've been the first in competition.
Thomas had a chance to force overtime at the last hole, but Thomas' long putt was just a bit short. That gave The Bay the one shot win.

Teeing off in the afternoon out of its usual primetime setting, the first matchup featured the previously undefeated Atlanta Drive GC (1-0) and the Los Angeles Golf Club (2-0).
LAGC took an early 1-0 lead on the third hole, with Justin Rose sinking a 14-foot putt. However, the match was tied at 1-1 on the next hole when Justin Thomas threw The Hammer for Atlanta, but LAGC declined. (Each team got three Hammers under new rules, compared to one during previous TGL matches.)
Sahith Theegala missed a putt on the fifth hole that would have given LAGC the lead, but the shot lipped out. The two teams remained tied at 2-2 after Holes 6 and 7.

LAGC won the ninth hole on a Thomas putt from seven feet to take a 3-2 lead. They built that margin to 5-2 when Tommy Fleetwood sank a birdie to win Hole 11.

However, Atlanta rallied to make it 5-4 on Hole 13 with a Billy Horschel putt. LAGC held its slight edge until Hole 15 when Thomas chipped in to move the match to overtime.
In overtime, it's a closest-to-the-pin challenge in TGL. Fleetwood looked like he gave LAGC the win when he holed in his shot. But Patrick Cantlay finished off Atlanta's rally and got the win, landing his shot to within five feet of the pin.

With the win, Atlanta briefly improved to 2-0 before falling to 2-1 on the season. LAGC took its first loss of the season and fell to 2-1, but it still looks like the TGL favorite ahead of a match next Monday against New York GC, which has yet to win.

Arizona Cardinals Year 2 player outlook: OLB Xavier Thomas
The Arizona Cardinals drafted 12 players in 2024. Some of them had contributions as rookies. Some will have greater roles in 2025. Others will have to battle for the roster. They selected outside linebacker Xavier Thomas in the fifth round with the 138th overall pick. Entering Year 2 in the NFL, let's have a look at his 2025 outlook. LB Xavier Thomas' 2024 season Thomas played in 14 games last season and was inactive in three other ones as a healthy scratch. Most of the season, he was part of the defensive rotation. He logged a total of 208 defensive snaps and finished the season with 10 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and four quarterback hits. He averaged about 15 defensive snaps per game. Xavier Thomas' Year 2 outlook in 2025 Thomas doesn't have an easy path to the final roster. The Cardinals signed Josh Sweat in free agency, re-signed Baron Brown and drafted Jordan Burch in the third round. BJ Ojulari is coming back from a torn ACL. Zaven Collins is still here. He is, at best, No. 6 on the depth chart. Will the Cardinals keep six outside linebackers? That is the question, especially since inside linebacker Mack Wilson and defensive lineman Darius Robinson are versatile enough to play the defensive edge some as welll. Guardians Activate Playoff Hero Lane Thomas After Astros Series
Guardians Activate Playoff Hero Lane Thomas After Astros Series originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Guardians, fresh off a series loss to the surging Houston Astros at home, now turn their focus to a two-game set against the Cincinnati Reds in the battle of Ohio teams. Advertisement The Guardians will welcome their state rivals, fresh off a sweep of the ailing Diamondbacks, to Cleveland starting Monday. After dropping two of three to the Dodgers, the Guardians went 2-4 against the Yankees and Astros in what is shaping up to be a possible playoff preview. Prior to Monday's series opener against the Reds, Cleveland announced news on a former playoff hero. Cleveland Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas (8) runs the bases after hitting a grand slam in the fifth inning against the Detroit Tigers during game five of the ALDS for the 2024 MLB Playoffs at Progressive Blaze-Imagn Images The Guardians activated outfielder Lane Thomas from the 10-day injured list, and demoted infielder Will Wilson to Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Thomas is most well known in Cleveland for his grand slam in Game 5 of the American League Division Series, which lifted Cleveland to a series victory over Tarik Skubal and the Tigers. Advertisement Thomas had been sidelined since late May with plantar fasciitis in his foot, but this isn't his first time on the injured list this season. Thomas was sidelined from April 19 to May 22 after being hit in the wrist by a pitch in the Guardians' home opener April 8. This season, Thomas has played in only 17 games, and hit to a paltry .117 average and .305 OPS. Some Guardians fans hope that the move to send down Wilson will free up fan-favorite Daniel Schneemann for more reps in the infield. While Thomas has struggled this season, his seemingly renewed health could hopefully provide more upside for the rest of the season.
