Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Washington posted a formidable 208 for 5 in 20 overs. Captain
Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell's explosive innings, backed by useful contributions from Mitchell Owen (32 off 11) and Andries Gous (12), propelled Freedom to a daunting total.
In response, Knight Riders struggled from the outset, slumping to 95 all out in 16.3 overs. Saurabh Netravalkar led the early charge with the ball, claiming 2/6 in 3.3 overs. Jack Edwards and Mitchell Owen did the damage in the middle with three wickets each, exploiting Knight Riders' fragile batting.
Knight Riders lost early wickets, as the top trio of Alex Hales, Sunil Narine and Unmukt Chand departed for ducks.
Occasional resistance came from Saif Badar (32 off 31) and Jason Holder (23 off 16), but the target was simply too far away by then.

Major League Cricket 2025 Explained: Teams, Schedule & Where to Watch
"I gave myself a chance for sure. Being the captain, you want to carry on for the team. I got to a position where I thought I could just go on. I had 155-160 in my mind," said Maxwell after the win.
"I feel like I was hitting well in India. Sometimes the results don't go your way. Just a bit of time is needed to get going. I have let him (Ricky Ponting) down in a couple of tournaments. I missed out playing for Punjab in the later stages of the IPL. Playing under Ricky, we hopefully have a chance to add to last year's trophy.
"We tried to back that 6 to 8 metres length. Chopping and changing the bowlers helped as well. Netravalkar did well. Adair did well in his first game. You just have to adapt. The attitude in the group has been outstanding. I feel the boys have been resilient. They have been finding ways to win," he added.
With this win, Freedom reinforced their position near the top of the table, while Knight Riders remain without a victory in three outings.

"Best Player I've Ever Seen": IPL Legend Jos Buttler Left In Complete Awe Of 14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Vaibhav Suryavanshi burst onto the scene in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season at the age of 14, slamming the fastest century by an Indian in the history of the tournament. Suryavanshi amassed 252 runs in just seven innings, at a ridiculous strike rate of 206. Playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR), Suryavanshi smashed a 35-ball hundred against Gujarat Titans (GT) in only his third match. England star Jos Buttler - who was GT's wicket-keeper on that day - gave his thoughts on Suryavanshi, comparing him to legends like Yuvraj Singh and Brian Lara. "The innings against us, 35-ball hundred, was just outrageous. Our (GT) bowling consists of Mohammed Siraj, brilliant international bowler, Prasidh Krishna, international bowler, Rashid Khan, best T20 bowler there is. And he (Suryavanshi) hit big sixes," Buttler said, speaking on the 'For The Love Of Cricket' podcast alongside Stuart Broad. "He played an innings against Chennai Super Kings a couple of matches later, I was watching on TV. CSK have seasoned pros like R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, but Suryavanshi went bang! And then he knocked one out to cover, like 'I'm so in control, I'll just take one now'. At that moment, I thought this guy is the best player I've ever seen. I was so blown away," Buttler said. Suryavanshi wowed one and all with his incredible IPL 2025 campaign. The left-hander smashed a six on the very first ball that he faced, clearing Shardul Thakur for a six over wide long-off. Suryavanshi's game developed as the tournament went on, and he ended up slamming another half-century before the season concluded. Buttler, who has emerged as a modern-day IPL great himself, spoke about Suryavanshi's fearlessness and what he thought of his first-ball six. "He actually hit his first ball for six in the IPL. He sort of gave himself a bit of room and smacked it over wide long off for a six. He had that fearlessness. There are so many brilliant players, they almost want to make a statement, as in 'look at me'," Buttler said. "We have to try and ask him how long before that happened did you think 'I'm going to try and hit my first ball for six'. Because it was a premeditated shot. Hhe looked for it," Buttler stated. "People have seen him with this amazing bat swing. Bit like, it's a huge statement, Yuvraj Singh or Brian Lara," Buttler added. Following the IPL, Suryavanshi is set to tour England as part of the India Under-19 squad, which will be led by 17-year-old Chennai Super Kings (CSK) sensation Ayush Mhatre. The two nations will face off in a five-match Youth One-Day series, followed by two Multi-Day Test matches. How Suryavanshi fares in England could provide an interesting subplot to the India-England Test series, starting from June 20.

BCCI suffer massive setback as court dismisses petition against Kochi Tuskers in ₹538 cr arbitral awards case
The BCCI were dealt a massive setback on Tuesday, as the Bombay High Court upheld arbitral awards exceeding ₹538 crore in favour of the owners of now-defunct IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers. A single judge (Justice R.I. Chagla) presided on the BCCI vs Kochi Cricket Private Limited and others case, and dismissed the Indian cricket body's challenge to the arbitral awards. The judge ruled that the court could not act as an appellate authority over the arbitrator's findings. The court observed, 'The jurisdiction of this Court under Section 34 of the Arbitration Act is very limited. BCCI's endeavour to delve into the merits of the dispute is in teeth of the scope of the grounds contained in Section 34 of the Act. BCCI's dissatisfaction as to the findings rendered in respect of the evidence and/or the merits cannot be a ground to assail the Award.' The Kochi Tuskers franchise was first given to a consortium led by Rendezvous Sports World (RSW), and then it was later operated by Kochi Cricket Private Limited (KCPL). The team participated in only one season (IPL 2011), then the BCCI terminated the franchise in September 2011, due to a breach of franchise agreement, citing failure to furnish a 10 percent bank guarantee. It was also reported that there was also many internal disputes between owners. Meanwhile, the KCPL stated that the delay was due to unresolved problems, which consisted of stadium unavailability, regulatory approvals on shareholding and also a reduction in the number of IPL games. Amid the delay, the BCCI and KCPL were in contact for many months, with the Indian cricket body also accepting various payments. But then suddenlu, the BCCI terminated the franchise, and also encashed a prior guarantee issued by RSW Both KCPL and RSW initiated arbitration proceedings in 2012, and the tribunal ruled in their favour in 2015. It awarded ₹384 crore to KCPL for loss of profits and RS 153 crore to RSW for wrongful encashment of the bank guarantee, and also alongwith interest and legal costs. The BCCI contested the tribunal's decision, and stated that it exceeded its jurisdiction and misapplied legal principles. Also, according to the BCCI, KCPL's failure to give the bank guarantee was a fundamental breach, justifying termination. It also contested the award of both loss of profist and wasted expenditure, citing that the damages were excessive and in breach of the contract. RSW's arbitration claim was also challenged under the Indian Partnership Act. The KCPL and RSW argued that BCCI had waived the guarantee deadline effectively, which made the termination unjustified. The court found no grounds to interfere with the arbitral findings, and stated, 'The arbitrator's conclusion that the BCCI's termination of the Kochi franchise was a repudiatory breach of contract would call for no interference under Section 34 of the Arbitration Act.' The court also added, 'Thus, based on these material facts and documents on record, the finding of the learned Arbitrator that BCCI waived the requirement under Clause 8.4 of the KCPL-FA for furnishment of bank guarantee for 2012 season on or before 22nd March, 2011 cannot be faulted.'
