Mt. Juliet approves 137-home development

Yahoo17-05-2025

The Mt. Juliet Board of Commissioners approved a 137-home development along Central Pike during Monday's meeting.
They voted unanimously on Tillman Place, a mixed-use development, west of Pleasant Grove Road, on first reading.
Civil Site Design Group, plans to build the development on approximately 36 acres.
Last March, the Mt. Juliet Planning Commission forwarded a positive recommendation to the city commission for this project.
Tillman Place will have a mix of 24 single-family homes and 113 townhomes. Development representatives said the residential sales would be for sale, not for rent.
Patterson Company LLC, a Brentwood-based home building company, will design the homes for this project. They estimated that 348 residents would move into Tillman Place.
At Monday's meeting, Greg Gamble, owner and president of Gamble Design Collaborative, a Franklin-based landscape architectural and development planning firm, provided a visual presentation of the development to the city commission.
Gamble, who is also a representative of Tillman Place, said the developers have cooperated with Shiloh Baptist Church on constructing a public street from Pleasant Grove to the western boundaries of the development.
Both parties also agreed on having a sewer connection for the church's future facility, according to city officials.
Gamble said the architecture of the homes represents the best of traditional Middle Tennessee architecture.
'These homes are built in a classic style, and it results in a neighborhood that is not dated,' said Gamble.
Gamble said Tillman Place's mixed-use properties would face significant challenges due to its topography.
'We would address these concerns by building parking lots with a maximum slope of 5% while ensuring that 88 routes would either be less than 5% or feature a ramp with a maximum slope of 8%,' said Gamble.
Amenities would include an 8,635-square-foot park pavilion, walking trails, a playground and an exercise area.
'We see this pavilion as an excellent opportunity for families to have their own picnics and for kids to wait for school buses to pick them up for school,' said Gamble. 'We believe this neighborhood can bring our residents together.'
The city commission will go over Tillman Place on second and final reading in their next meeting.
In other business, the commission unanimously approved rezoning for Virtue Modern's satellite office on Curd Road.
Virtue Modern LLC, a luxury residential design company, has been considered to be one of the proven leaders in modern design, according to the company's website.
Lysle Oliveros, founder and CEO of Virtue Modern, said the company's vision is to become Mt. Juliet's community architect. He presented 3D renderings of Virtue's new office space to the city commission.
'My dream is to create a really big space for our employees to come to work and have fun with it,' said Oliveros.
