As Bill Belichick continues along in his first season at Chapel Hill, there is a strong sense that winds of change are coming to the North Carolina football program. In talking with recruits and family members of recruits that have visited campus already this spring, there is buzz that Belichick is "locked in" with the Tar Heels rebuilding the roster to fit his vision.
Along the way, several blue-chip recruits on the defensive side of the ball have raved about the new culture being installed, including some Rivals250 edge defenders, defensive linemen and defensive backs who love Belichick's intensity.
Big names to watch include in-state targets Zavion Griffin-Haynes, Keshawn Stancil and Trashawn Ruffin, among others.

Lamar Brown is the top-ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2026 Rivals250, though some of his leading contenders are pursuing the four-star target to play along the defensive front. During his workout at UA Next in New Orleans, Brown shined playing both defensive end and lining up inside at guard. Brown had a compelling case to be the Offensive Line MVP and was squarely in the conversation for Defensive Line MVP honors as well.
In this analyst's opinion, Brown will eventually make his way to the offensive line on Saturdays. He's directly in the five-star conversation – with fantastic feet, power and the ability to block excellent in space and reach multiple levels of defenders. He's got NFL OL written all over him.

Xavier McDonald is one of the most coveted pass-catchers in the Rivals250. Both Ole Miss and Mississippi State are pressing to keep the four-star WR close to home, and LSU and Auburn are both working to pull him out of state.
The Rebels have successfully kept the state's best in-state since Lane Kiffin and Kelvin Bolden arrived in Oxford, and we are expecting the same sort of trajectory with McDonald. I've logged a new FutureCast for the Rebels to win out with the Rivals250 WR from Morton (Miss.).

Why are the San Antonio Spurs supposedly a team to watch in Jaylen Brown trade talks?
Why are the San Antonio Spurs supposedly a team to watch in Jaylen Brown trade talks? Why are the San Antonio Spurs supposedly a team to watch in Jaylen Brown trade talks for the Boston Celtics? With all the grans of salt taken in light of it being silly season (that time of year when reports about NBA teams are often coming from parties trying to bend things towards their interests), we have been hearing rumbles from trustworthy media that there might be a deal to be made for the Georgia native between Boston and San Antonio. If there is any proverbial fire to this smoke, what would such a deal look like to make sense for both parties? Would Brown be okay with decamping to Texas after all the roots he has put down in the local community over the last near-decade? Is this all just a distraction when it comes down to brass tacks? The folks behind the "WEEI Boston's Sports Original" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Jones and Keefe" show that takes a deep dive into these rumors. Check it out below!

Why did Liam Doyle transfer from Ole Miss? Tennessee ace leading Vols into super regionals
Why did Liam Doyle transfer from Ole Miss? Tennessee ace leading Vols into super regionals Show Caption Hide Caption Miami coach Brian Smiley, Tennessee's Tony Vitello on Vols NCAA win Miami coach Brian Smiley, Tennessee's Tony Vitello on Vols NCAA win Tennessee baseball's Liam Doyle has been the best pitcher in college baseball this season, but it wasn't always easy for the southpaw. Doyle, a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award and the nation's leader in strikeouts, is a rare three-time transfer. He started his career at Coastal Carolina, before transferring to Ole Miss and then the Vols. It was in 2025 he developed into a likely top-10 pick in the upcoming 2025 MLB Draft. The 21-year-old from Derry, New Hampshire tossed 6 2/3 innings against Miami (Ohio) in the Knoxville Regional, allowing one run on four hits with 11 strikeouts. Three days later, he pitched 2 1/3 innings for Tennessee in relief, striking out five hitters and allowing no runs. REQUIRED READING: 2025 MLB draft prospects: Top college players in NCAA baseball tournament Doyle will almost certainly receive the ball for Game 1 of the Fayetteville Super Regional against Arkansas, looking to get the Vols back to the College World Series after the Vols won the national championship last season. Here's a look at Doyle's path in 2025, including why he transferred from Ole Miss in the offseason: Why did Liam Doyle transfer from Ole Miss? To put it in simplest terms, Doyle didn't showcase his best stuff for the Rebels in 2024. The left-hander served as Ole Miss' Saturday starter in 2024, but turned in a 5.73 ERA in 55 innings, despite possessing high-end strikeout numbers with 84 punchouts. His transfer to Ole Miss came after spending his freshman season at Coastal Carolina, where he had a 4.15 ERA in 56 1/3 innings. Doyle transferred to Tennessee alongside former Ole Miss teammate Andrew Fischer, with Fischer also potentially being a first-round pick alongside Doyle in 2025. Fischer and Doyle were roommates at Ole Miss, and Fischer has slugged 24 home runs at Tennessee this season. "We transferred out of Ole Miss together trying to just better our careers and success in the future," Doyle told GoVols247 after Tennessee played Ole Miss earlier this season. "We both feel as if we did that." Doyle added: "It is what it is. College sports are how they are nowadays, and I had to do what was best for me to better my career. It sucked. I loved Oxford. It was cool. But I'm so blessed and fortunate to be where I am now, knowing I made the right move for my career and this season." Doyle was electric in his lone start against Ole Miss this season, allowing two runs on three hits across 8 1/3 innings, striking out 14. Liam Doyle stats

Bengals' Chase Brown more than a little underrated in new rankings
Bengals' Chase Brown more than a little underrated in new rankings Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown seems like a guy flying a little bit under the proverbial radar right now ahead of training camp. After all, Brown stepped into the lead-back role for the Bengals last year and was productive, even proving himself after Zack Moss went down with an injury before suffering an injury of his own. Despite this and the Bengals not really bringing on competition for Brown, Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema ranked him 25th out of 32 running backs in a recent look at the position leaguewide: 'Brown earned a 73.8 PFF rushing grade and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade last season to give him three-down value for the Bengals. That combination of skill helped him produce the 16th-highest PFF WAR mark among running backs in 2024.' RELATED: Bengals UDFA is already turning heads at OTAs Behind a middling offensive line over 16 games, Brown ran for 990 yards and seven scores on a 4.3 per-carry average last year, catching 54 passes and scoring four times as a receiver, too. There's no reason to think Brown will see a reduction in chances next year despite Moss coming back on a reworked contract and Samaje Perine re-joining the team. The team would like to do more to keep Brown healthy late into the season, perhaps, but not enough to have him ranked so low when it seems like he and the offense as a whole could be improved in 2025, if not at least more balanced.
