Man who knew Madeleine McCann suspect makes huge claim as police search in Portugal
A man who knew Madeleine McCann's prime suspect, Christian Brueckner, has urgently pleaded with the authorities, suggesting they could be focusing their search in the wrong place.
Speaking to GB News, Ken Ralphs claimed a person he believes to have been Brueckner's accomplice, once cried as he admitted to being part of a plot to abduct a child in Praia de Luz.
Ralphs told GB News: "He cried that he needed the money to get out the country with his family and children and that's why he got involved."
Mr Ralphs has pinpointed a location he believes to be the last property where Brueckner resided before Madeleine's disappearance, urging detectives to shift their attention to that spot, reports the MEN.
Frustrated by years of inaction, he said: "For over 18 years, I've pressed the police and all they can do is blame each other for not passing this information on."
Investigators are continuing their search of several abandoned buildings and a farmhouse close to the area of Praia da Luz, where Madeleine McCann was last seen while on holiday with her parents and siblings.
Yesterday, June 4, marked the second day of the latest searches for the missing Madeleine McCann who disappeared while in the region, aged three.
German and Portuguese police officers are involved in the investigations alongside firefighters as they look for evidence that could implicate prime suspect Brueckner. The search comes on the request of the German federal police.
Brueckner is currently in prison for raping a 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz in 2005, but is due to be released from jail in September if no further charges are brought forward.

Although Judge Uta Engemann described the Dublin woman as a 'credible witness' and said 'we have no doubt something bad happened to her', she added there was not enough evidence to convict Brueckner on three counts of rape and two of indecent exposure. Hazel went on: 'I am a survivor of sexual assault and rape — a title I never asked for, but one I have carried with me every day for almost 21 years. "If he is released in September, he can go anywhere he wants. The police can only get involved in protecting me if he comes into my garden. A driver has rammed his car into a crowd of people in the German town of Passau with his own wife and daughter counted among his victims. Police say a 48-year-old man driving a Mercedes drove into a group of pedestrians on the pavement in the Bavarian city this afternoon, Saturday, June, 7, at around 3:30pm. Among those he hit were his 38-year-old wife and five-year-old daughter. The number of people injured and the severity of the injuries remain unclear, reports the Mirror. However, it has been confirmed by cops that there has been a number of casualties, including the man's five-year-old daughter and wife, who were injured when he veered on to the pavement. Passau police say they have detained a 48-year-old man, who was driving the Mercedes at the time of the crash. They have also provided further details on some those injured in the terrifying incident. A Straubing police spokesperson told BILD: "The group of five also included the man's 38-year-old wife and his five-year-old daughter. "We currently have one moderately injured and four slightly injured. Initial witness interviews in the group indicate a custody dispute. Albufeira horror with chilling similarity in cause of death between two Brits
A second British tourist has been found dead in the Portuguese party town of Albufeira - it comes after police found the body of Glasgow man Greg Monks earlier this week A 'naked' British tourist has been found dead in a Portuguese resort in eerily similar circumstances to the another Brit found dead this week. The man is believed to have died following a drunken fall down steps in the Old Town of Albufeira in the Algarve and it comes after the body of Greg Monks, 38, was found after he disappeared in Albufeira last month, reportedly during a stag party. The latest alarm was raised just before 7am on Wednesday, with news of the incident only emerging today. Respected Portuguese daily Correo da Manha is reporting the tourist was 'completely naked' when he was found at the bottom of the steps in an avenue called Avenida da Libertade. Portuguese law means the autopsy results have not been made public, but an autopsy has taken place and police are understood to have ruled out any link to a crime. Authorities are said to be treating the death as a tragedy linked to excessive alcohol consumption. The young tourist was in his twenties and had been heading to where he was staying in Albufeira. No explanation has been given as to why he might have been naked, although police have not yet confirmed he had no clothes on. Police said the Monks' disappearance, meanwhile, was reported to the Guarda Nacional Republicana on May 28 at around 8pm by a man who was on holiday with him. Greg, from Glasgow, had gone out drinking at bars in the raucous Albufeira strip after flying to the resort hours earlier with friends for a stag do. Greg's sister had urged residents in the area to check home cameras and doorbell footage between 2am and 5am on Wednesday, May 28 after it emerged the last sighting of him had been in the hill area dotted with large villas. A Portuguese police source revealed the CCTV supplied by the local homeowner had proved vital in the case. The Policia Judiciaria said the body, found on Wednesday, was located in the Cerro de Aguia area. The police insider said today: 'The GNR police force had requested help from the Polícia Judiciaria force which confirmed yesterday the missing man's body had been found. They then got given CCTV from one of the villas in the Cerro da Aguia areas which enabled them to trace him jumping over a wall of a neighbouring property. 'With that information the searches were immediately moved to the scrubland below the houses. Sniffer dogs that were being used by the GNR were brought in again. When the dogs were put to work in the area, around 11am, they went straight to a bush where the missing man's body was laying.' He is thought to have jumped over a wall and fallen down a steep cliff after becoming disorientated as he tried to head back to his holiday hotel.
