TTD additional EO inspects queue lines as waiting time for Darshan stretches upto 18 hours at Tirumala
TIRUPATI: Tirumala, the sacred abode of Lord Venkateswara, continues to attract a huge turnout of devotees from across the globe, as the waiting time for Darshan once again stretched up to the 18-hour mark on Saturday.
While 71,721 pilgrims had Darshan at the Tirumala temple on Friday, close to 90,000 pilgrims were scheduled to have their Darshan on Saturday. With the summer vacations drawing to an end in June, Tirumala remained in the grip of an unprecedented pilgrim rush, especially in the last few days.
As serpentine queue lines became the order of the day, pilgrims were seen waiting with their families in the queue lines, which stretched up to Silathoranam.
TTD Additional EO Ch Venkaiah Choudary inspected the outside queue lines at Tirumala on Saturday.
During his inspections, Venkaiah Choudary interacted with the pilgrims and sought their feedback on the supply of food and other refreshments to them while they were in the queue lines. He personally checked the quality of free food being distributed to the devotees.
Later, the additional EO directed the TTD's Annaprasadam department to ensure round-the-clock supply of drinking water, milk, food, etc.,

to reduce the inconvenience caused to the devotees while they were waiting in the queue lines.
The sanitation and health department was instructed to keep the toilets clean 24/7 for the convenience of the pilgrims.
Meanwhile, Venkaiah Choudary directed the temple staff to speed up Darshan inside the temple complex so that the waiting time for Darshan comes down at least marginally.
He also instructed the vigilance and security department sleuths to keep a strong tab on the pilgrim movements in the queue lines and at other high pilgrim congregation points at Tirumala.
TTD Additional EO told reporters that the Devasthanams was following the instructions of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to facilitate Darshan for more common devotees. Hence, the VIP break Darshan on recommendation letters was cancelled till July 15 to cope with the heavy influx of pilgrims during the summer season.
Venkaiah Choudary took strong exception to the manner in which some mischievous elements were resorting to false propaganda against the TTD in a bid to defame the institution.
'TTD will initiate legal proceedings against all those involved in malicious campaigns against the Tirupati trust,' the additional EO warned.
'Yesterday, a devotee raised slogans complaining about the non-supply of food and other refreshments in the queue lines. When we reached out to the devotee, he retracted his statement by claiming that he made false accusations as he was waiting in the queue lines for long. He himself confirmed that food and other refreshments were continuously being distributed to the devotees in the queue lines. But the entire episode was portrayed in a completely different manner to defame TTD, and such actions will not be spared,' Venkaiah Choudary warned.

Court Allows Kejriwal Plea For No Objection Certificate For Passport Renewal
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday allowed the plea of former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking a no objection certificate for the renewal of his passport. On May 28, Kejriwal told the court his passport expired in 2018, and he was seeking renewal for 10 years. The court of special judge Dig Vinay Singh, allowing the plea, said that the court had "no objection" if Kejriwal's passport was renewed for 10 years as per rules. The judge, however, made it clear that this order of the court shall not in any manner "fetter the discretion of the passport authorities" in granting or refusing the renewal of the passport under the Indian Passports Act and the relevant rules. Observing that the "no objection" granted through this order shall remain in force for a period of three months within which Kejriwal may get his passport renewed, the court said, "It goes without saying that the present order is not granting any permission to the applicant to travel abroad, and if he ever desires to travel abroad for any purpose, he shall have to file an appropriate application seeking such permission. " The court on May 29 issued notices to ED and CBI, directing them to file their responses by June 4. CBI opposed the plea by the former CM by filing a formal reply. ED did not file any formal reply but made only oral submissions to the effect that the renewal of the passport should not be granted for a complete 10 years. CBI submitted that the norms followed in different courts of CBI relating to such matters are that the renewal permission is granted for 5 years. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Descubra ofertas de voos imperdíveis Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo Advocate Mudit Jain, appearing for Kejriwal, submitted that the renewal permission be granted for the full 10 years as he, in any case, has to seek permission to travel abroad, which he shall seek as and when he requires to travel abroad. The court noted that at present, Kejriwal is not seeking any permission to travel abroad, obviously as he may not be planning to travel abroad in the immediate near future, but that too cannot come in the way of granting permission to the applicant for renewal of the passport for a complete 10 years. After all, the bail conditions already prescribe that the applicant shall not travel abroad without formal permission of the court, the judge said.

Vacation rush to tourist hot spots in south India
Kolkata: As temperatures soar across India, tourists are increasingly turning to hill stations in south India for their summer getaways. Popular destinations like Munnar, Ooty and Kodaikanal have emerged as popular destinations for holidayers from Kolkata. Also in demand are Wayanad and Thekkady in Kerala; Yercaud in Tamil Nadu; Coorg, Chikkamagaluru and Nandi Hills in Karnataka; and Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh. Several of these destinations combine colonial charm with natural beauty, featuring tea plantations, scenic lakes, and pleasant weather throughout the summer months. "Hill stations like Ooty and Kodaikanal witnessed consistent footfall, with tickets being booked well in advance," said Indian Association of Tour Operators chairman (West Bengal) Debjit Dutta. The accessibility and well-developed infrastructure of these destinations make them particularly attractive to families and group travelers. Kerala's hill stations are gaining prominence among tourists seeking less crowded alternatives. Wayanad, with its lush forests and wildlife sanctuaries, has emerged as a favourite among nature enthusiasts. "Although not promoted as extensively as other destinations, Kerala's hill stations offer exceptional natural beauty," said Travel Agent Association of India chairman (east) Anjani Dhanuka. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "There has also been a rise in footfall in forests like Jim Corbett and Ranthambore. Goa remains an all-time favourite among travellers for all seasons. Gujarat saw a spike in tourism as the IPL final was held there," informed Travel Agents Federation of India managing committee member Anil Punjabi. Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Sikkim that are usually popular summer destinations have seen footfall plummet due to the terror strike at Pahalgam and landslide in Sikkim. Many are avoiding Uttarakhand because places here are also prone to landslides. Darjeeling closer home continues to be a top draw. But the Western Ghats region has seen increased interest from travellers looking for peaceful getaways that offer trekking, wildlife spotting, and other cultural experiences, said Paperboat Holidays director Arunodoy Dey.
