Naismith, 38, was axed by Hearts - who McInnes will take charge of - in September and is thought he is keen on a return to the dugout.
The ex-Scotland international refused to rule himself out of the running for the Killie job.
But after being out of football for the first time in his life he insists he will take time to weigh up what he does next.
Asked about the links to the vacant hotseat on the latest episode of The Warm Up, William Hill SPFL's weekly preview show, Naismith said: 'I'll go serious for you and give you a good answer. I'm enjoying the time out.
'It takes over your life, management. It's on your mind all the time.
'I loved it but I've loved my time out. I'm at the point where everything needs to be perfect for me.
'So it has to be the right club, you believe in what it is and that you're going to make a difference. That's where I sit.'
SunSport told on Monday how Naismith would be a leading contender if McInnes left.
McInnes initially claimed he would be in the Killie dugout for the final two games of their season, despite the clubs agreeing he could move to the Jambos.
But he dramatically left his post this morning following Wednesday's 3-0 loss to Motherwell.

That has hastened Killie's chase for Naismith, who became a club hero after coming through the ranks then netting 32 goals in 105 appearances before being sold to Rangers in 2007 for a club record fee £1.9million.
He was a part of Steve Clarke's backroom team then took charge at Tynecastle on an interim basis in April 2023.
After landing the permanent post he guided them into third spot in his first full season in charge but was then axed just six games into this season with the club sitting at the foot of the table.
It's thought that experience hasn't put Naismith off the role. He has used his time out to further his education by going on club visits and speaking with managers he has worked with in the past, as well analysing things in various media roles.

CHRIS SUTTON: People were underwhelmed when Ange arrived in Glasgow, too... and look how that ended up!

The response to Rangers choosing Russell Martin to lead them into their new future has been underwhelming, and I get it in a way. It was between him and Ancelotti. When I first saw the latter linked, I thought, 'Jesus! Carlo?' But, no, it was his son, Davide, who's never managed before. Maybe there was a fantasist element among the Rangers fanbase who worked themselves up into a frenzy over that surname, therefore, and now they're disappointed that they've been left with Martin. But he deserves a fair crack at showing what he can do with this opportunity. There was a similar reaction when Celtic appointed Ange Postecoglou, remember. The jibes started as soon as he was announced. 'They've brought in an Australian bloke who's just been working in Japan,' and all that. But Postecoglou didn't turn out to be too bad, did he? Martin has a similar philosophy to him, too. Rangers might actually try to play football for the first time in goodness knows how many years, and the fans might grow to like his purist style if they give it a chance after the direct approach they witnessed under Philippe Clement. Martin deserves that leeway at the very least. Yes, we all know how badly it went with Southampton in the Premier League last season, but then he got them out of the Championship before that and did it in style. Rangers fans may see his win record in charge of MK Dons and Swansea and reckon they should be aiming for a higher calibre of manager. I say judge him on what he does next, not what he did before. Recruitment will be key for him. Making sure Nicolas Raskin stays would help, too. Last season, Rangers did well in their head-to-heads with Celtic. Yet they still ended up 17 points behind their great rivals in the Premiership. That wasn't where they threw away any chance at the title. It was in their other games. Now Martin needs to find that consistency which will hopefully get the fans on his side. I suspect they would have had an issue with whoever was appointed. That's the nature of football fandom. But let's judge Martin on how he does, not before he's even been shown where his office is at the training ground.

Scotland 'should be grateful' they have Tierney

Head coach Steve Clarke says Scotland "should be grateful" they have Kieran Tierney as the incoming Celtic defender prepares for his 50th 28-year-old, who returns to Parkhead this summer following his Arsenal exit, is set to reach the milestone when the Scots face Iceland - live on the BBC - on Friday night at suffering injury issues in recent years, Tierney's versatility to play at left-back and on the left of a back three has been vital throughout Clarke's reign."Kieran is a top, top player, we're lucky to have him," said Clarke, whose side will also face Lichtenstein on Monday. "In recent years, he's had one or two little injury issues that have probably restricted his number of caps. "I remember going down to London to meet him when he'd just moved to Arsenal to speak to him about his role within the squad and what we expected from him. "Since then, myself and Kieran have had a really good relationship. So we should be grateful we've got him and hopefully it doesn't stop at 50 and the caps keep coming."There are many players in the squad now who are on over 50 caps and Kieran's just another one to add to that."

'Extra manpower across the park' - your transfer window priorities

We asked for your views on what Livingston need to do in the transfer what some of you said:Ethan: For Livi to be competitive this season we need to get a holding midfielder that can play with the ball at his feet but isn't going to be a bombscare. I'd like to see Robbie Fraser or Macaulay Tait come back to Livi but that will never happen because I think they excelled too much when they played with us. In terms of sales, get Tete Yengi out the door as well as Daniel Finlayson, both not good enough for the top This squad is miles better than the one that was relegated. I think two full-backs would be wise. A left-back to replace Fraser, and a right-back assuming Jamie Brandon returns to the midfield with Tait departing. Some back-up at centre-back seems essential, but I'm hoping we don't revert to the low block straight Livi are going to need some extra manpower across the park to mitigate the impact of our loanees returning to their clubs of origin and an ageing squad. A striker with a ruthless edge is required, wing-backs on both sides and the departure of Michael Nottingham means we need more options in central defence. An attacking midfielder would also be nice, but we mustn't wish for too much!Del: Livi has the basis of a very good team, a bit of strengthening up, especially creative players for David Martindale to go out and win games.
