Two people arrested for the sexual exploitation of children
COLUMBUS, Ga. () — Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff's Office have arrested and charged two individuals for committing internet crimes against children.
Police say on May 13th, Courtney Johnson, 21, and Noah Johns, 22, were arrested and charged with Sexual Exploitation of Children for Distribution of Child Sexual Assault Material.
A search warrant executed at the couple's house in Hogansville revealed additional evidence that led to the arrest of Johnson and Johns.
Investigators say they received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in regards to a Troup County resident who was possibly distributing and advertising Child Sexual Assault Material.
The investigation is still active and police say more charges are possible.

'Hotel nights' Jane's testimony was highly anticipated: she began by detailing how she had met Combs through a friend who was dating him at the time. But he came on strongly to Jane, she said, and when her friend got engaged to someone else, she began seeing Combs romantically. Their relationship began in earnest during a whirlwind five-day date at a Miami hotel, she said, describing Combs - as many others during the trial have - as 'larger than life.' Several heady months followed, including a romantic trip to Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas in February 2021. She said Combs first gave her illicit drugs on that trip. When the vacation ended, he wired her $10 000 because she had been unable to work - at the time, she was creating content for brands on social media - and was a single mother. Jane silently collected herself and held her face in a tissue as she described how her blissful early days with Combs took a sharp turn in May 2021 when he began talking about his fantasies of seeing her with other men. She acquiesced because she wanted to make Combs happy, she said, and to her surprise, he arranged for another man she dubbed Don to meet them at a hotel that very night. Jane said that the amount of time she spent getting ready for hotel nights with Combs, which he demanded at a moment's notice and sometimes flew her to, meant she did not work. Money from Combs and child support from her previous relationship were essentially her only income, she said. That testimony echoed Ventura's, who had said her freak-offs with Combs came to feel like a full-time job. Combs put Jane up in a home in Los Angeles for $10 000 a month, she said, and when she spoke against hotel nights, he would bring up that point. Along with Ventura and Jane, witnesses have included former employees of Bad Boy Enterprises, Combs's company. Jane's testimony will continue on Friday. The trial is expected to last at least another month.

Long Grove bridge hit by moving truck, allegedly for the 67th time
LONG GROVE, Ill. (WGN) — Water is wet. The sky is blue. Someone hit the Long Grove Covered Bridge again. A WGN TV News viewer sent a small treasure trove of photos detailing the latest vehicle that was too tall to pass over Buffalo Creek. The viewer told WGN TV News this is allegedly the 67th time the bridge has been struck by a vehicle. Built 1906, it was initially named after Buffalo Creek, and didn't feature a wooden roof over the top of it. The wooden cover was added in 1972. The bridge, which measures 8-feet-6-inches tall, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in June 2018, and was promptly plowed through two weeks later. Cover Story: The infamous Long Grove Covered Bridge It was restored, but 23 hours after the official reopening in August 2020, another driver in a chartered school bus not only hit it, but got stuck. The good news is, it wasn't completely obliterated like it was in 2018. With how frequent the bridge has been struck over the years, one would think there's a lack of signage around the well-battered crossing, but that's not the case. Signs are posted on, before and after crossing the bridge on Robert Parker Coffin Road, and they have done little to stop vehicles from leaving various dings and dents over the years, fines for which start at $700. Two years since his passing, his family said the pain of loss is still strong, but his mother was trying to set it aside. 'When I woke up that pain went away. Demetrius Haley was found guilty on four counts in federal court, and Desmond Mills, who took a guilty plea deal, is set to appear for sentencing on June 17. City of Memphis disputes insurance claims in Tyre Nichols case Emmitt Martin, who also took a guilty plea deal, will stand in front of a judge on June 18. Community organizers and activists said it is past time for people to pay attention, especially as the City of Memphis is in budget talks. 'Meanwhile, library services have a proposed budget of $25 million, parks and services have a proposed budget of $28 million,' said Amber Sherman, community organizer. 'I don't understand how we will make every other department prove that they deserve the money they are getting.'
