"The revamp will cover infrastructure, academics, and workshops. The ITIs will have state-of-the-art machinery at workshops, and advanced courses," he said at the unveiling of a coffee table book published by the Maharashtra Times. Themed on the coronation of Maratha warrior king Shivaji Maharaj, the book covers the celebration of the 351st anniversary of the historic event at different ITIs and other institutions.
Lodha said that artificial intelligence, drone technology, and robotics are some of the emerging fields that will be covered in courses offered by ITIs. "As an infrastructural expansion, every ITI will see construction of nearly 1,800 square feet of additional space. It will be utilised for accommodating additional machinery and running courses."
State govt has plans to offer loans up to Rs10 lakh to youths completing ITI, diploma, and degree courses in engineering and technology, among other fields, for entrepreneurship development, the minister said.
"Govt will bear 50% of the interest rate. We target a minimum of one crore youth for the disbursal of such loans."
Lodha further said the disbursal of such loans is part of state's proposed innovation policy. "We have charted out a comprehensive policy to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and research. The policy will be tabled before state cabinet for final approval."
The coffee table book, which was released in association with the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, is a formal tribute to Shivaji Maharaj, the minister said. "It will inspire everyone to follow the path shown by the Maratha warrior king. It will infuse new confidence in our youth."

Kulkarni wants action against those who put posters disrespecting her
Pune: Rajya Sabha member Medha Kulkarni on Friday demanded strict action against people who had put banners defaming her after she demanded that Pune railway station be named after Peshwa Bajirao I. "Every citizen has the right to put forward their demands, and that's what I did. Opposition to my views should be done within the boundaries of decorum. Use of derogatory language, especially against a woman, is unacceptable. Action is must to put across the message that women should be respected," she told reporters after a meeting on civic issues at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) office. On Wednesday, Deccan Gymkhana police had registered a case against people who pasted posters illegally at the Jhansi Rani Chowk. The messages were derogatory and mocked Kulkarni's demand. According to Kulkarni, Bajirao I was a warrior who continued the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. His valour was unmatched and his war techniques are still taught in the armed forces. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo The demand faced opposition from Maratha outfits and some political parties, including NCP (SP) and Samajwadi Party. They suggested other names for the station and appealed that social groups oppose the demand. "There can be opposition and criticism, and we must know how to tolerate it. However, if you are making personal remarks against women, then you don't follow the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj… you don't understand the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda. People do not read… they have no knowledge of history. Whatever action the administration deems fit should be taken," she said. Kulkarni said she had only suggested the name. Her request would be sent to a committee and the govt for a decision. A letter was also sent to the state chief minister, she said. "The name can be accepted or rejected, but the unceremonious criticism will not be accepted," she added.

‘Trying to create rift': Sharad Pawar questions demand to name Pune railway station after Bajirao I
NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar on Friday waded into the debate over naming Pune railway station, saying that people were unnecessarily creating a rift among communities by raising the issue. Pawar was speaking in the backdrop of BJP Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni's recent demand that the railway station be named after Thorle Bajirao Peshwa I. Also known as Bajirao I, Thorle Bajirao Peshwa was appointed the 'peshwa' or chief minister of the Maratha confederacy from 1720 to 1740 during the reign of Chhatrapati Shahu. However, Kulkarni's demand led to protests from Maratha organisations and Opposition parties. 'There was no reason to create a dispute by raising the issue now. I have not understood why there is an urge to give the name of Bajirao Peshwe. If bravery is the criterion, there are many names. Maratha king Sambhaji was known for his bravery and sacrifice,' Pawar said in Kolhapur. The NCP(SP) chief said there was no reason to raise the issue now. 'Some people only try to create a rift between different communities without any reason,' he added. Kulkarni had requested that the Indian Railways give the Peshwa's name to Pune railway station, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stand on highlighting local history in the name and planning of railway stations. The leader had never lost a battle, and such a great figure deserves the honour, she had said. However, city NCP (SP) chief Prashant Jagtap had opposed the demand, saying many historical leaders could be considered for the same honour. Meanwhile, NCP(SP) spokesperson and former city mayor Ankush Kakade said that the Pune railway station should be named after social reformer Jyotirao Phule or political and social leader Gopalkrishna Gokhale, considered to be the mentor of Mahatma Gandhi. A leader of the Maratha organisation Sambhaji Brigade, Santosh Shinde, also said that the organisations and political parties should oppose the move to name Pune railway station after Bajirao Peshwe, and suggested the names of Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule instead. Shiv Sena (UBT) workers in Pune had also put up flex boards against Kulkarni, following which the police had registered a case against unidentified persons.
