MLW star Brett Ryan Gosselin looks to give Rogue Horsemen championship gold at Battle Riot VII

Fox News04-04-2025

Brett Ryan Gosselin (BRG) burst onto the Major League Wrestling scene as the flashy up-and-comer who bore a stunning resemblance to Ryan Gosling's Ken in the film "Barbie."
But over the last year, he's separated himself from that guy and has found a place in the Rogue Horsemen with Bobby Fish, C.J. and Brock Anderson. It's the newfound toughness he's hoping that carries into Battle Riot VII with the Major League Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship on the line.
Gosselin was one of the 40 men in a match last year, but he did not come out the winner.
"Last year was a little different," he explained to Fox News Digital in a recent interview. "I was running up by myself. I was pretty much a one-man show back then. This year, I have C.W. Anderson, Brock Anderson and Bobby Fish by my side. So, planning's been going on for months now for strategy going into the Battle Riot for this year.
"When it comes to gold, BRG is the guy who is always searching for gold. I said at the beginning of 2025 that this is the year for the Rogue Horsemen to become a championship franchise and winning the MLW title would be the best first step into making that a reality."
With his sights on championship gold, Gosselin made clear that all the "Barbie" business is in the rearview mirror, even as Battle Riot VII is set to take place at Thunder Studios Arena in Long Beach, California, for its Los Angeles County debut.
"For people that don't know, they just assume that Brett Ryan Gosselin is my stage name, it's my real name. And with that said, a lot of what you see on TV is just naturally me," he explained. "That's just who I am as a person. I've always grown up with my father telling me that it doesn't matter how you win at the end of the day, as long as you win. History books are going to remember you as a winner and that's what I focus on.
"When it comes to the 'Barbie' stuff, I played into it a little bit during the 'Barbie' movie when it was super popular, and obviously Ryan Gosling was Ken in that movie, so I had a little fun with that. But, you know, people can draw those comparisons now, but I think I very much surpassed Ryan Gosling's popularity from that 'Barbie' movie."
Gosselin will be one of 40 men looking to walk out of Long Beach with championship gold.
Matt Riddle is the current champion and looks to defend his title. Bishop Dyer, Donovan Dijak, Tom Lawlor, Jesus Rodriguez, Anthony Green and others will compete as well.
Battle Riot VII takes place on Saturday at 10 p.m. ET.

The Penguin and Barbie stars new futuristic fantasy romance is giving Suzume vibes in first trailer

Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell go through a one-in-a-lifetime journey in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which just released a first-look trailer with some serious Suzume vibes. No, Farrell doesn't turn into a talking chair, but there are plenty of magical doors and a romance that feels larger than life. The trailer, which you can see above, follows Sarah (Robbie) and David (Farrell), two single strangers who meet at a mutual friend's wedding, and feel a connection. "It's funny how the most beautiful places make you feel the most alone," he tells her. "Maybe it just depends on the person you're with," she replies. Thanks to David's magical GPS, they meet again and decide to go on a Big Bold Beautiful Journey. Per the official synopsis, the film sees them living "a funny, fantastical, sweeping adventure together where they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts, illuminating how they got to where they are in the present… and possibly getting a chance to alter their futures." Both Robbie and Farrell had the biggest success of their careers in recent years. Robbie made history as star and producer of the massive box office hit Barbie, while Farrell was nominated for an Oscar for his excellent performance in The Banshees of Inisherin and is now starring in DC's successful series The Penguin. They are joined in this new movie by Kevin Kline, Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Billy Magnussen. The film was helmed by The Acolyte director Kogonada, who took inspiration not exactly from Makoto Shinkai's Suzume (despite the magical doors) but from Hayao Miyazaki's movies at Studio Ghibli. "That sort of magical lightness really connects you to our everyday experiences and all the challenges of being human, and is able to do both things at once," he told Vanity Fair. In fact, he brought on Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi, known for his work on Miyazaki's films, to create the score for the film. "It felt important to lean into the fantastic, but to also ground it in these landscapes," added Kogonada. Both Robbie and Farrell had the biggest success of their careers in recent years. Robbie made history with Barbie, and Farrell was nominated for an Oscar for The Banshees of Inisherin and is starring in HBO's successful crime series The Penguin. A Big Bold Beautiful Journey arrives in cinemas on September 19. In the meantime, check our guide for all upcoming movies in 2025 and beyond.

'Wuthering Heights' Casting Director Defends Margot Robbie & Jacob Elordi Controversy: "It's Just A Book"

English author Emily Brontë published Wuthering Heights in November 1847, and the intense novel remains a cultural phenomenon over 177 years later. It's been adapted numerous times across film, TV, radio, and even music, but now, the latest re-imagination of Brontë's work has sparked some controversy. Wuthering Heights, a movie directed by Emerald Fennell and inspired by Brontë's iconic novel, is set to debut in early 2026. However, many have taken issue with the leading roles being given to Margot Robbie, best known for her performances in Barbie and The Wolf of Wall Street, and the Priscilla star Jacob Elordi. Brontë's Wuthering Heights takes place in the late 18th century in remote Yorkshire and centers on the relationship between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, who is an orphan. In the book, Heathcliff is also portrayed as having dark skin, hair, and eyes, which is why readers suspected he was of Roman or "Gypsy" descent. This would help explain the prejudice that Heathcliff faces throughout the story. So, critics have suggested that Jacob Elordi wasn't the right choice to depict Heathcliff, given his ethnicity. Moreover, he and Margot Robbie, who are 27 and 34 years old, respectively, have both come under fire due to their ages, since the main characters are in their early twenties for most of the book. Casting director Kharmel Cochrane responded to the backlash at the Sands film festival in Scotland, claiming there was "no need to be accurate" since the material inspiring Emerald Fennell's newest film adaptation is "just a book," according to Deadline. This statement seemingly struck a nerve with numerous literary lovers, as a recent Reddit thread regarding Kharmel's response sparked a lot of outrage and called into question the respect Brontë's novel was being afforded. "It sounds like she [Kharmel] has lots of respect for the material and isn't just doing it for money," sarcastically commented one Redditor. "What was the point of adapting it if they weren't gonna actually adapt it accurately?" asked another, "They'll probably change entire plot points to make it unrecognizable." "The casting decision is one thing, but that dismissive attitude makes me angry. I won't be watching, considering it's 'just a film,'" added a third. Now, Emerald Fennell's adaptation of Wuthering Heights isn't the first to ignore character traits laid out by Brontë in the original book. In fact, Heathcliff has previously been played by actors such as Ralph Fiennes, Tom Hardy, and Timothy Dalton. Still, the rest of Kharmel's remarks from the Sands film festival have left a sour taste in many people's mouths. "There was one Instagram comment that said the casting director should be shot. But just wait until you see it, and then you can decide whether you want to shoot me or not. But you really don't need to be accurate. It's just a book. That is not based on real life. It's all art," she stated. "There's definitely going to be some English Lit fans that are not going to be happy. Wait until you see the set design, because that is even more shocking. And there may or may not be a dog collar in it." According to , the film will be released on February 13, 2026. How well it's received by audiences in the wake of such casting controversy remains to be seen. Looking for more , , and news? Follow us on so you never miss a thing!
