2 Pakistani army personnel killed in Balochistan

Karachi, Jul 24 (PTI) Two Pakistani army personnel, including a Major, were killed during an intelligence-based operation against insurgent groups in the restive Balochistan province on Thursday, the military said.
The operation was carried out at Mastung district.
'During the operation, Major Zeeyyad Salim Awal and Sepoy Nazam Hussain were killed," the military's media wing said.
Three militants were also killed in the operation, it said.

Balochistan has witnessed a surge in insurgent activities in recent months.
Earlier this month, three members of a Qawwali troupe were killed, and several others injured, when their bus was attacked near the Parod area on the Karachi-Quetta national highway. During the discussion, one lawmaker was heard saying that General Munir went to Washington to strike a deal with Trump over Balochistan's rare minerals. The controversy is growing, as Baloch leaders are accusing Pakistan of trying to sell off resources that don't belong to it, raising serious political and ethical questions around the deal. Mir Yar Baloch accuses General Munir of misleading Trump Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has accused General Asim Munir and Pakistani diplomats of intentionally giving false information to US officials about the presence of oil reserves in Pakistan. He warned US President Donald Trump, saying, 'Pakistan has no oil reserves. General Munir has misled you with fake claims. The natural resources in Balochistan belong only to the Baloch people.' He made it clear that Balochistan is not for sale. Speaking firmly, he said that neither the land nor the minerals of Balochistan can be used without the clear consent of the Baloch people. He warned both the US and Pakistan against making deals that ignore the rights of the locals. In a post shared by Mir Yar Baloch, he wrote: 'Allowing Pakistan's radical army to exploit Balochistan's mineral wealth worth billions of dollars would be a serious strategic mistake. Such access would boost ISI's operational and financial power, allowing it to expand its global terror network, recruit militants, and possibly plan major attacks like 9/11 again.' He ended his message by appealing to the United States and the international community to recognize the truth and support the freedom and rightful ownership of the Baloch people over their land and natural resources.

ED books Kerala charitable trust for FCRA violation
The Enforcement Directorate has registered a forex violation case against a Kerala-based charitable organisation for receiving Rs 220 crore from abroad in alleged violation of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). The investigation pertains to Kunhahmed Musliyar Memorial Trust located in Kasargod and its chairman Ibrahim Ahmad Ali, an NRI. Searches were conducted under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) at two locations in Kasargod on Thursday in connection with the case, the ED said in a statement. The Trust, according to the ED, received more than Rs 220 crore since 2021 from Ibrahim Ahmad Ali, which was reflected in the books of accounts as 'unsecured' loans. However, no loan agreement, interest rate terms, or repayment schedule were available, and no repayment had been made till date, the probe agency said. The probe found that these funds were received by Ali from a UAE company named Universal Lubricants LLC. In the absence of supporting documents and in view of the clarification given under a section of the FCRA, the said loan prima facie qualified as 'foreign contribution' under FCRA, the statement said. According to the ED, the Trust is 'not registered' under the FCRA and does not possess the 'mandatory permission' or a designated FCRA bank account to receive foreign contributions. It was found that a part of these foreign contributions was 'utilised' for the purchase of agricultural land in India, in violation of the existing regulations. The search action found that the Trust received Rs 2.49 crore in 'cash' from Ali in violation of FEMA provisions. 'During the search, incriminating documents, ledger accounts showing unsecured loans of Rs 220 crore, the cash book of the Trust, and a hard disk containing financial data were seized,' the ED said.
