Airtel cracks down on online fraud in T.N., blocks 1,80,000 malicious links

As part of the nationwide rollout of its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered fraud detection system, Airtel has blocked over 1,80,000 malicious links and safeguarded more than 3 million users across the State. Automatically enabled for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers, the advanced system scans and filters links across SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, e-mail, and other browsers. It leverages real-time threat intelligence to examine over 1 billion URLs daily and blocks access to harmful sites in under 100 milliseconds, said the Airtel in a press release. For instance, if a resident in Salem receives a suspicious message that reads: 'Your package is delayed. Track it here: And if the unsuspecting resident then clicks on the link, Airtel's system also clicks into gear. It instantly scans the link and if flagged as suspicious, it blocks access. The user is redirected to a warning message that reads: 'Blocked! Airtel found this site dangerous!' All this instantaneously. This real-time interception prevents users from falling victim to all kinds of frauds. Tarun Virmani, CEO-Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Bharti Airtel, said that at a time when digital threats were becoming more advanced and widespread, the need for a strong and dependable secure mobile network was more essential than ever. Commenting at the event, Sandeep Mittal, Additional Director General of Police, Cyber Crime Wing, said: 'We are pleased that the Airtel team informed us and offered a comprehensive overview of their initiative for fraud detection solutions, detailing its goals and operational methodology.'

Mudvendi village once covered with darkness, now glows in Red zone

Raipur: Once a remote and neglected hamlet overshadowed by Maoist violence, Mudvendi village in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh is now emerging as a symbol of hope, progress, and good governance. Located around 35–40 kilometers from the district headquarters, this small village with just 45 families has seen a revolutionary transformation. For years, development bypassed Mudvendi. The lack of basic amenities and the fear of extremism kept the village shrouded in darkness—literally and figuratively. But now, electricity illuminates homes, clean drinking water flows, and paved roads connect the village to the outside world, marking a dramatic shift in the villagers' quality of life. From Maoism to Mainstream "After years, our village finally has electricity. Children now study even at night without any fear. We no longer live in constant worry about snakes or wild animals," says Hurra Kunjam, a local resident. Under the Niyad Nellanar Yojana, a long-closed school in the village has reopened. "It's a dream come true. For the first time in a generation, our children are studying in their own village," he adds with pride. Another resident, Lakhma Kunjam, describes the current atmosphere in the village as festive. "There's joy all around. Our homes are brighter, household chores are easier at night, and the village feels far safer," he says. The Niyad Nellanar Yojana, launched by CM Vishnu Deo Sai, aims to bridge the development gap in Naxal-affected areas by providing basic infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security.
