Eddie Howe On Alexander Isak's Future: Newcastle United 'Control What Is Next..'
Newcastle coach Eddie Howe confirmed no formal offers for Alexander Isak amid exit rumors and has interest from Liverpool, PSG and Al-Hilal.
Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has confirmed that no formal offers have been made for Swedish striker Alexander Isak amid speculation about his potential exit. Newcastle United, currently on a pre-season tour in South-East Asia, recently suffered a 2-3 defeat against Arsenal and are set to face K-League XI at the Suwon World Cup Stadium in South Korea on Wednesday.
Isak was excluded from Newcastle's pre-season squad due to a thigh injury, though ESPN reports suggest he has expressed a desire to leave the club, with Liverpool, PSG, and Al-Hilal showing interest. Newcastle, however, is reportedly keen on retaining him.
Howe echoed this sentiment, stating the club has significant control over the 25-year-old's future.
'He is still our player. He's contracted to us. We, to a degree, control what is next for him. I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us. My wish is that he stays, but that's not in my full control. We have not received a formal offer for Alex from any club," said Howe in the pre-game conference.
What Does Isak Offer As A Star Forward?
Despite rumours about Isak's desire to leave during the summer transfer window, Howe has acknowledged ongoing behind-the-scenes discussions regarding the striker but remains hopeful he will stay at the club.
'Of course, things are going on behind the scenes. Conversations will remain private. We'd love him to continue his journey at Newcastle. We're in a strong position financially, and we're determined to be successful," Howe previously confirmed.
When asked about if ther will be incommings at St. James' Park, he said: 'It's going to be an important time for us. There's lots to take in. We have to bring in the right players at the right prices – I don't think we should, in any way, act out of character for how we've always tried to work in the windows and try to do what's best for the football club in a strategic way. That can't change."
'So if the right player isn't out there for the right price, then we can't do the deals. Everything's got to fall in line. Obviously, we're looking to improve the squad, we're looking to try and add depth and quality to the areas that we've identified. Fingers crossed we can get some deals done," he added.

Kylian Mbappe Gets Real Madrid's No. 10 Jersey, Taking Over From Luka Modric
Last Updated: Real Madrid announced Kylian Mbappe as their new number 10, succeeding Luka Modric. Real Madrid has officially announced Kylian Mbappe as the club's newest player to wear the number 10 shirt, joining a list of iconic names ahead of the new season. On Tuesday, Real Madrid confirmed on X that Mbappe has succeeded club legend Luka Modric as Los Blancos' latest number 10. 🤩 Our new 🔟! — Real Madrid C.F. 🇬🇧🇺🇸 (@realmadriden) July 29, 2025 Who Wore The Number 10 Jersey At Real Madrid Before? This special rank includes notable players like Mesut Ozil, Luis Figo, Clarence Seedorf, Ferenc Puskas, and others who have carried the weight and responsibility of this number. Modric had his final appearance for Los Blancos following the conclusion of the Club World Cup. Mbappe, despite his impressive goal-scoring form, has faced criticism for his lack of success as the premier attacker. After his move from Paris to Madrid, PSG achieved their first UEFA Champions League title and reached the Club World Cup final despite Mbappe's absence. Meanwhile, Mbappe scored 31 goals to become La Liga's top scorer but was unable to prevent Madrid from having a trophyless season. Real Madrid's 2024/25 campaign ended without any silverware after a 4-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Club World Cup semi-finals. Turning his focus to national duties, Mbappe scored his 50th goal for France during their 2-0 victory over Germany in Stuttgart. Germany had several opportunities to take the lead, with their best chance coming from highly-rated youngster Florian Wirtz, whose shot hit the post. However, it was France who broke the deadlock, with Mbappe scoring just before half-time to give his team the advantage. This goal brings Mbappe within reach of Thierry Henry, with the Real Madrid star now just one goal behind the French legend in the country's all-time scoring chart. In the closing stages of the match, Mbappe provided an assist to Michael Olise, who came off the bench to secure the win for France. view comments First Published: July 29, 2025, 23:55 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. I'm really happy," Wirtz said on JioHotstar. The 22-year-old playmaker was one of Europe's most sought-after talents this summer, with several clubs showing interest, but Wirtz's decision was clear. "I felt it was the right moment in my career to take the next step. I wanted to join a club that ranks among the top three in the world, and in my opinion, Liverpool is one of them," he explained. "I saw myself in the best hands at Liverpool and was truly convinced by the people here, the club's vision, and what it offers me. Ultimately, it was an easy decision to make," he said. Wirtz now begins a fresh chapter in the Premier League, a challenge he's excited to embrace, but even before kicking a ball for his new club, the young German already feels the warmth of the Anfield faithful. "I would say thank you for the support," he said, addressing Liverpool fans who had flooded social media platforms, urging the club to sign him. "I have seen on Instagram and elsewhere how much they wanted me to join. I'm really looking forward to playing in front of them and achieving great things together.
