Spice Girls' 'Girl Power' tribute as they lead celeb support of England's Euro 2025 final
Celebrities are gathering in force to pay special tribute to England Women's football team as they bid for back-to-back European success tonight. The Lionesses take on Spain in Basel, Switzerland, hoping to lift the Euro trophy once again, three years on from their maiden success.
However, they know they are up against it as they face a Spanish side who defeated them in the World Cup final in 2023. In preparation, the group has been turning up the volume to Heather Small's Proud tune as they keep their pre-game ritual in tact.
But as Serena Wiegman's team gets their game face on for once last hurdle in the tournament, celebs have took to social media to send their own messages of support.
Among them was the Spice Girls. The iconic girl band's official Instagram and Twitter /X accounts shared the same message alongside a snap of the group - minus Victoria Beckham - posing on stage. Melanie C also wore an England shirt in the image, as their rallying call read: Come on @Lionesses! We wish you the best of luck for the #WEURO2025 final today #GirlPower @England"
EastEnders star and staunch football fan Ross Kemp give a video message to the girls, saying: "I just want to wish the Lionesses all the very very best against Spain. You have the skill, you have the mindset, you have the talent, and you have backing so come on England and come on the Lionesses."
Quiz show guru Shaun Wallace, best known as The Dark Destroyer on ITV's The Chase also shared two video messages in support. His first saw him give an inspirational quote.
He also captioned his post: "Let's hope the Lionesses get the gift of a great performance and bringing it home tonight! Make the most of everyday, every day is a gift. Have a fantastic Sunday and good luck to the Lionesses tonight."
He quickly followed it up with another message, saying: "Bring it home Lionesses," with a video of him saying: "This is a special message for the England Lionesses. Good luck today girls, let's bring that trophy home."
The Royal Family's official account also gave a rousing message to the squad. It shared a superb version of It's Coming Home outside of Buckingham Palace.
Alongside the upload, they wrote: "Let's go girls!! Wishing the very best of luck to the @Lionesses in the Women's Euro Final this evening.
And Sarah Ferguson also gave them the royal seal of approval. Getting her message in early, she said on Friday: "We're all behind you Lionesses. Best of luck tomorrow!"
The occasion comes almost three years to the day since Wiegman's team changed the face of women's football in England following their defeat of Germany in the Euro 2022 final at Wembley. On that occasion Chloe Kelly's extra-time winner would pass into English football folklore.
Then, a little over a year later, there was heartbreak as Spain beat the Lionesses 1-0 in the World Cup final in Sydney. The result came despite the heroics of legendary goalkeeper Mary Earps.
And now England is once again getting behind the team as they bid to lift another coveted trophy.

Leading 2-0 from the first leg at Ibrox, only another fine performance in the Olympic stadium from Gers keeper Jack Butland, who thwarted the Greek side in Govan, kept the tie goalless at the break. Filip Djuricic opened the scoring with a header in the 53rd minute but moments after climbing off the bench, Gassama, who scored after coming off the bench on his debut last week, levelled at 1-1 with a stunning drive. A remarkable start to the 21-year-old's Rangers career took the heat out the home side's fightback, although Russell Martin should not be fooled, his side rode their luck for the second time against Panathinaikos, who will rue a series of missed opportunities over the two games. In what was Martin's first away game as Rangers boss and only his second in Europe as a manager. He kept the same side which started last week at Ibrox. Rui Vitoria's side were without suspended right-back Georgios Vagiannidis, sent off in Glasgow for picking up two yellow cards, and his place was taken by Giannis Kotsiras. The home side bossed and battered Rangers in the first half, starting in the fifth minute when midfielder Anastasios Bakasetas drove just wide from the edge of the box following another corner. In the 14th minute, Gers' dithering defender Max Aarons was robbed by former Manchester United man Facundo Pellistri, which left the attacker one-on-one with Butland and the Gers keeper brilliantly blocked the shot. Butland then made another terrific save from a close-range header by captain Fotis Ioannidis, who had beaten defender John Souttar to a great cross from Pellistri. Panathinaikos defender Erik Palmer-Brown headed a Bakasetas free-kick over the bar from six yards before the unmarked Pellistri missed a sitter in the 28th minute, blasting high over from 12 yards after Gers skipper James Tavernier had conceded possession inside the box. Rangers' two real efforts came in rare attacks, attacker Findlay Curtis missing the target and midfielder Nico Raskin heading over, both from corners. Waves of Panathinaikos pressure continued after the break but when Duricic wrong-footed Butland with a header from a Bakasetas cross, the flag went up for offside. However, after a long VAR check, Italian referee Simone Sozza awarded the goal but more drama quickly ensued. Moments later, Gassama, the former Sheffield Wednesday forward who replaced Curtis after the goal, fired in off the post from 14 yards in a rare Rangers attack to restore the Light Blues' two-goal lead. Gers substitute Cyriel Dessers missed a great chance in added time when he failed to beat keeper Bartlomiej Dragowski following a counter-attack but it mattered not. Rangers moved into the next qualifying round and guaranteed themselves European league phase football of some sort this season.

David Gray names Hibs three stars who can fill Nectar Triantis void
The midfielder return to the Stadium of Light after impressing on loan at Easter Road David Gray insists Hibs can be proud of the platform they gave Nectar Triantis after all but confirming that the midfielder will not be returning to Easter Road. The Leith side were desperate to bring back the 22-year-old following the success of his loan stint from Sunderland last season. Even if the Sydney-born player does not get the chance to feature for the Black Cats in the Premier League, Triantis wants a fresh challenge with clubs from the English Championship, MLS and mainland European all interested. And despite facing a losing battle in his bid to re-sign Triantis as Hibs prepare for tonight's crunch second leg against Midtjylland, Gray insists there are no hard feelings. He said: 'We've also been very clear that it's not just Nectar Triantis, we can't put everything into one position or one player. 'So the hard work has been going on and whilst it was still a potential opportunity, you'd always look to try and explore it because of how well he'd done. 'But it was always going to be that with it being his second loan spell here, how well he'd done, his parent club getting promoted and what his situation was going to be. 'He was a pleasure to work with, that was one of the reasons why we wanted to bring him back in the first place. 'He's a real humble, hard working boy that's constantly trying to improve all the time and as a coach that's what you want as a dream to work with. 'I'm the head coach I've judged every week at 5 o'clock and what the result is, that's the immediate job is to win games of football. 'But my job title and my first thing is to make sure I improve every single player every day if you can, and make sure every player feels like they're improving all the time. 'Nector's a positive example of someone who came in, found a new position and has certainly improved over 12 months and that's a lot of hard work from everybody involved and the group of players he's working with.' And Gray insists he will not necessarily need a like-for-like replacement with midfielders Jamie McGrath and Josh Mulligan having already arrived this summer. He added: 'We've got a lot of quality in there currently in the building which is great. 'We've added to that as well with Jamie and Josh that can play centrally and still got Joe Newell to come back, he's someone that's been out for a significant period.'
