Kiev-orchestrated bomb plot thwarted in Moscow Region
Two Russian citizens who were collecting an improvised explosive from a cache outside Moscow, have been killed after opening fire on law enforcement, the Federal Security Service (FSB) reported on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified by the agency as 'accomplices of Ukrainian special services,' who allegedly planned to use the device in a terrorist attack targeting a Russian military service member.
According to the FSB, video footage appearing to show surveillance scenes along with the alleged IED proves that the bomb was ready for activation when it was seized.
Plot details were subsequently discovered on suspects' phones and investigators are reportedly treating the case as a felony involving unlawful possession of explosives.
The FSB frequently reports having disrupted terrorist operations allegedly coordinated by Ukrainian intelligence services, though suspects are typically apprehended alive. Exceptions have occurred, particularly when Kiev is believed to rely on radicalized individuals with links to international terrorist organizations.
One such case was reported in April 2024, when two Central Asian Islamists allegedly planned to use first-person-view drones armed with explosive devices to target an oil refinery in Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The FSB claimed the suspects were directed to retrieve the equipment from a cache and were given operational instructions by a 'Ukrainian handler.'

Pakistani soldiers killed in suicide attack
A suicide bomber has rammed a vehicle packed with explosives into a military convoy in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. When the militants attempted to escape, local residents and security forces chased after them, resulting in one being killed during a shootout, according to police. According to the Global Terrorist Index, TTP was among four terrorist groups responsible for the most deaths last year. Deaths attributed to TTP nearly doubled from 2023 to 2024.

Russian soldiers returned from Ukrainian captivity – MOD (VIDEO)
A group of Russian servicemen has been returned from territories controlled by Ukraine, Russia's Defense Ministry reported on Thursday. The exchange took place in accordance with the agreements reached by Moscow and Kiev in Istanbul earlier this month, the ministry said. In a statement on its official Telegram channel, the ministry shared a video of the Russian soldiers draped in Russian flags and boarding a bus to begin their journey home. The servicemen are currently in Belarus where they are said to be receiving all necessary psychological and medical assistance. They will later be transported to Russia for further treatment and rehabilitation, the ministry said. The statement added that Ukrainian prisoners of war were sent back to Ukraine in exchange. Neither side has disclosed the numbers involved though a source has told RT that the exchange was equal. Thursday's swap is the latest in a string of exchanges conducted by Russia and Ukraine since their latest direct talks in Istanbul on June 2. The previous exchange took place last Friday and another one was conducted the previous day. The humanitarian exchanges since the June 2 negotiations have also included repatriation of the remains of slain soldiers. Russia has returned the remains of over 6,000 Ukrainian soldiers and received 57 in return.

Staff at Europe's biggest nuclear power plant attacked by Ukrainian drone
Workers at Russia's Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) were targeted by a Ukrainian drone just a few hundred meters from the reactor units, the facility's management reported on its official Telegram channel on Friday. The ZNPP, Europe's largest nuclear power plant, came under Moscow's control in March 2022. The region's residents soon thereafter voted in a referendum to become part of Russia. The plant has since frequently been at the center of hostilities, as both Moscow and Kiev have traded accusations of endangering its safety. The latest attack took place near the plant's hydraulic structures, approximately 350–400 meters from the reactor units, according to the ZNPP's statement. The drone is said to have damaged a service vehicle but caused no injuries. Personnel involved in clearing operations at the water intake canal managed to take cover before the explosion. The plant emphasized that operations continue under full safety precautions. The ZNPP's management condemned the Ukrainian drone strike as a 'terrorist act' and called the deliberate targeting of civilian nuclear staff 'a new level of inhumanity' by the Kiev regime. Russian officials have repeatedly accused Ukraine of nuclear terrorism over strikes on the Zaporozhye facility. The plant has been the target of drone attacks on multiple occasions in recent years. In April 2024, unmanned aircraft struck near the reactor containment areas, including a direct hit on the dome of Reactor Unit 6. Earlier this month, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which has a monitoring mission deployed to the ZNPP, also confirmed that its team heard repeated rounds of gunfire and multiple explosions during what appeared to be a drone attack on the plant's training center. That incident marked the fourth time this year that the area had been targeted by Kiev. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi responded at the time by stating that 'any attack on any nuclear power plant, in particular Zaporozhye, is absolutely unacceptable.' He warned that such actions must stop immediately due to the risk of 'potentially serious consequences.'
