Prom event raises money for 2025 African American Heritage Festival in Altoona
ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — It might not be prom season yet, but that didn't stop organizers of the African American Heritage Festival from having one to raise money for this year's event.
It was an adult crowd at the African American Prom at The Casino in Altoona, now in its third year. The popular social event was sold out with 400 tickets sold, organizers said.
'It's really important because it also shows unity in the community. Everybody comes together, gets dressed up, and has a good time. It does raise a lot of money to help with some of the finances we have,' Paige Lightner, President of the African American Heritage Festival and Prom, said.The African American Heritage Festival will take place in Altoona July 26-27.
