Jaguars among teams to meet virtually with 'physical' and athletic Syracuse defensive end The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly met virtually with Syracuse defensive end Fadil Diggs
The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly met virtually with Syracuse defensive end Fadil Diggs, according to Justin Melo of The Draft Network.
During the pre-draft process, teams can host up to 30 prospects on official visits, but they are able to have unlimited virtual meetings.
Diggs measures in at 6-043 and weighs 257 pounds. He posted an elite Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 9.35.
The 2024 season was Diggs' first at Syracuse. He spent his first four collegiate seasons playing at Texas A&M and has totaled 1,662 career snaps.
This past year was Diggs' most productive, as he totaled 42 pressures and eight sacks, according to PFF. He's also graded out as an above-average run defender by PFF's metrics during his career.
"I'm absolutely comfortable in the run game," Diggs told Melo in an interview. "I'm always working to improve every aspect of my game. I love being physical. I'm definitely capable of stopping the run. I welcome that violence in the trenches."
The defensive line is a position group where we are likely to see the Jaguars invest multiple draft picks into.

Jacksonville Jaguars' Arik Armstead ranked among PFF's top defensive tackles in 2025

Jacksonville Jaguars' Arik Armstead ranked among PFF's top defensive tackles in 2025 The Jacksonville Jaguars' Arik Armstead is among PFF's top defensive tackles heading into the 2025 NFL season. The Jacksonville Jaguars' Arik Armstead is among Pro Football Focus' top defensive tackles heading into the 2025 NFL season. PFF has been putting together its ranking of the top 32 players at each position group. At defensive tackle, Trevor Sikkema had Armstead at No. 23 on his list. "Armstead has moved from interior defender to edge defender throughout his career, but he plans to move back inside in 2025 and be an 'elite player' once again," wrote Sikkema. "He's not wrong, as he did post a near-elite single-season PFF overall grade (89.6) in 2019. He recorded just 36 quarterback pressures last season, but that could have very well stemmed from playing out of position." The 2024 season was Armstead's first with the Jaguars, and he was moved to defensive end, despite coming off several highly productive seasons at tackle while with the San Francisco 49ers. After recording 58 pressures and eight sacks in 2023 at defensive tackle, Armstead produced just 36 pressures and two sacks in 2024 by PFF's metrics. In addition to that, Armstead went from ranking ninth among defensive tackles in pass rush win rate in 2023 to ranking 32nd among edge defenders in 2024. This season, under new defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, Armstead will be making the move back inside. "I think that's where I'm best," Armstead said of the tackle position while appearing on the O-Zone Podcast. "I've played both in my career and had success at both, but I can have the biggest effect on the quarterback playing and rushing against guards and centers. That's what I do best." The defensive tackle position as a whole was thought to be a pressing need for the Jaguars this offseason. However, no addition was made there in free agency or in the NFL draft, showcasing the confidence that GM James Gladstone has in the players that were already on the roster and Campanile's ability to maximize their skill sets. Maason Smith has mentioned that this will be a more attacking Jaguars' front in this new defense, while Gladstone alluded to there being more movement up front as well, which can help put players in advantageous situations based on their skill sets and what the matchup dictates.

Cowboys Urged To Sign Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander After Packers Cut

Cowboys Urged To Sign Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander After Packers Cut originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO - It took 10 seconds. Within 10 seconds after the Monday morning breaking news on the Green Bay Packers leaking their decision to release two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander, the texts started coming in. Advertisement Within a few minutes after that, social media and the internet were ablaze. And here we go again, with your Dallas Cowboys attached to an available big name ... with nobody pausing to take a breath to consider the facts. First, to Green Bay, where the two sides have been attempting for months to work out a revised contract ... with the team uncomfortable with continuing to pay Alexander on the four-year, $84 million extension they just gave him a year ago. What is their issue? Injuries, mostly, as Alexander has missed significant time in three of the past four seasons. In other words, to some degree, he's the Packers' version of Trevon Diggs. Advertisement When healthy? He's a two-time Pro Bowl cornerback (like Diggs). He's still young at 28. (Diggs will turn 27 this season.) But as excited as Cowboys Nation gets about stuff like this, Dallas' hesitation here will — and should — mirror Green Bay's hesitation. Jaire's cap numbers presently? That'd be $25 mil for this year and $27 mil for next year ... though there is contractually escapability after 2025. So ... he could be a one-year rental ... and maybe he won't demand $20 million plus. Of course, if you're going to do that, why not just trade for Miami's Jalen Ramsey? (Which the Cowboys are openly saying they have no interest in doing.) Advertisement Alexander was a 2018 first-round pick; he's got pedigree. While totaling 12 interceptions over his career, he's a playmaker. ... though not on a level with Diggs. ... Which brings us back to Dallas. In 2023. Diggs played just two games. He played 11 games in 2024 before he suffered another season-ending injury. Now he might miss half of this season. They therefore have DaRon Bland and a bunch of guys in the cornerback room at present. Should the Cowboys "jump at the chance '' to sign Alexander? No. Should they explore it, call on it, ponder the finances and the injuries and the risks? Sure. But that takes more than 10 seconds. Or even 10 minutes.
