ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The coolest place to hang out this weekend has to be BRED Abu Dhabi, running from April 23 to 27 at Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Island.In its third year, the cultural phenomenon presented by Hypebeast returns to celebrate music, fashion, sport and art.
Music The line-up of international headline acts includes rappers Nas and Nines, PARTYNEXTDOOR, rockers Adonis and Cairokee, as well as the BRED Abu Dhabi exclusive single "Hena" by Karim Osama, Asayel and The Synaptik.Rounding off the line-up is the likes of regional favourites Marwan Moussa, Afroto, Dana Hourani, Nayra, Odeal, Ilmond, and many more who are all looking to bring their high-energy performances to the festival's stages.
Fashion If you're looking for streetwear, high-fashion, vintage finds, or fierce footwear, you're sure to find festival exclusives, customisation spaces and more to accommodate your style.Amsterdam's Daily Paper and Turkiye's Les Benjamins return to the festival with new collections alongside Precious Trust and 5Pillars.Menswear label Pieces Uniques and local wonders Mesmari, Wyld x Jeeski make their debut, while Sharjah-based concept store Basement has teamed up with barbershop The Lab for a mix of streetwear and fresh haircuts.Leading global names such as ASICS, JD Sports, New Balance, adidas, ANTA, Timberland, and New Era will also be offering everything from high-performance apparel to ready-to-wear staples, and multi-brand concepts like Sneaker District, TONE, and Foot Locker are set to launch exclusive product releases.
Art Street art legend Futura will make a special appearance at the Les Benjamins space where you can get a signed copy of his latest book and shop the exclusive collection Futura x Les Benjamins. Additionally, LA-based Marwan Shahin, Lebanese illustrator Joelle Jabbour, Armenian-Syrian artist Stephany, and Emirati designer Shamma Bu Hazza will also be producing customised artworks exclusively for the festival.
Food When it comes to food, BRED Abu Dhabi is renowned for its diverse offerings. On the menu this year is Oklahoma-style smash burgers, French-style steak sandwiches, New York pizza, Moroccan specialities, Mexican tacos, Jerusalem ka'ak, and a South African-style flame grill.
Sport In competitions held over the five days, the TOP BALLER Gulf 1v1 Cup, presented by NUMBER 10 and adidas, will conclude, crowning region's top talent.
The dedicated NBA 2K League Gaming Zone is also set to return, where you can see some of the best players live in action as well as take part in various interactive basketball-inspired challenges.

Every year, the programme selects 200 emerging filmmakers, series creators and XR artists from across the globe to participate in a dynamic, week-long exchange of ideas, insights, and innovation during the Berlinale in February. The upcoming edition will take place from February 13 to 18, 2026, and offers a rich programme of public talks, discipline-specific workshops, project development labs and networking opportunities. Held alongside the festival's official screenings and the European Film Market, Berlinale Talents serves as a creative hub for the next generation of industry leaders to explore filmmaking from fresh and diverse perspectives. Applications are open to professionals with a demonstrable track record in one of 14 fields, ranging from directing and producing to sound design, film criticism and sales. Berlinale Talents is particularly focused on creatives eager to explore new ideas and storytelling techniques that reflect their unique worldviews. Established in 2003 with support from the British Council and other partners, the initiative has become a launchpad for many renowned voices in international cinema. UK-based alumni include writer-directors Mahdi Fleifel, Fyzal Boulifa, Rose Glass, Clio Barnard and Anthony Chen; producers Sarah Brocklehurst and Emily Morgan; and composer Daniel Pemberton, whose work has garnered Oscar and BAFTA nominations. In 2025, thirteen UK-based professionals were selected for the programme, supported by the British Council, which also offers travel grants in partnership with the British Film Institute (BFI) to help UK participants attend. Interviews with previous participants revealed how deeply the programme's themes resonated with their creative work and how impactful the experience was for their careers. 31 July 2025 23:50 AMEINAH ALZEYOUDI (ABU DHABI)In the month of July, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) organised a summer camp to help young children get acquainted with Al Sana'a – the traditional Emirati code of manners, etiquette, and values – at Qasr Al Hosn in the camp targeted children between the ages of 7 and 14, offering them a welcome opportunity to actively engage with and safeguard the cherished diverse sessions, integrating role-playing and storytelling, children were introduced to honouring guests, the etiquette of serving Arabic coffee, the settings and importance of the traditional majlis, collective assistance, respecting the elderly, and appropriate greetings and conversational cues when visiting them, among other topics. In an interview with Aletihad , Asma Almaskari, Senior Education Specialist at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the initiative underscores DCT Abu Dhabi's efforts to foster deeper connections to Emirati heritage within the community and to promote the values that continue to shape UAE society today. 'The programme sets itself apart from typical summer activities by actively highlighting intangible cultural heritage. It is a transformative journey into the essence of Emirati identity, reviving a cherished way of life rooted in principles of respect, generosity, hospitality, humility, and honour,' Almaskari the camp within the historic Qasr Al Hosn holds particular significance, 'connecting participants to the legacy they are preparing to uphold, fostering a personal connection to their heritage and ensuring these significant traditions continue to flourish for present and future generations,' she noted that the camp created a nurturing environment where children naturally adopted these values, ensuring a meaningful and effective learning experience.'For instance, the session on 'Honouring Guests: Al Sana'a Through Food', drawing inspiration from the legacy of Sheikha Salama bint Butti, provides participants with practical instructions on the proper protocols for serving traditional Emirati fuwala. It includes preparing an Emirati dish alongside culinary experts, thereby reinforcing values of generosity and thoughtful giving through direct application,' she refers to culinary offerings, featuring an array of traditional Emirati snacks and Arabic coffee, which form an essential part of Emirati also elaborated on the session, which introduced participants to Tawjeb, a core Emirati value rooted in respect, compassion, and social responsibility. During the session, the children learned the etiquette of visiting the elderly, including appropriate greetings, the importance of bringing a small gift, and the proper phrases and conversational cues that are traditionally used when engaging with speaking to Aletihad, parents of children participating in the camp shared how the training impacted their young Al Mazrouei, whose son Abdullah took part in the camp said that her son is keen to participate in activities related to the heritage of the UAE. 'He was very happy to experience how to receive guests and welcome them with Emirati coffee in detail. 'Also, when we returned to our house, he kept imitating how to pour coffee and welcome guests. He also enjoyed interacting with the elderly and participating alongside them in activities,' she said. Mazna Al Mansouri, mother of Mohammed, said: 'The main goal of his participation in Al Sana'a camp is for him to learn our authentic values and customs, to be raised with respect for elders, to understand the meaning duty, and to instill in my children the spirit of Emirati identity and to feel a sense of belonging.'
