Ozzy Osbourne's family reveals plans for ‘small, private funeral' to honor late rocker

Yahoo6 days ago
Ozzy Osbourne will reportedly be laid to rest in a 'small, private funeral.'
The late Black Sabbath frontman's loved ones are planning a 'celebration of his life,' a source close to the late rocker's family revealed to People on Tuesday.
'Ozzy would never want a mope-fest,' the insider noted of the singer, who died last week at age 76.
Osbourne made this clear in a 2011 column, telling Times readers that he wanted a 'celebration, not a mope-fest.'
He joked, 'I honestly don't care what they play at my funeral; they can put on a medley of Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle and We Are the Diddymen if it makes 'em happy.
'I'd also like some pranks: maybe the sound of knocking inside the coffin; or a video of me asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of 'death,'' the Grammy winner continued. 'There'll be no harping on the bad times.'
In addition to the private funeral, Osbourne's hometown of Birmingham, England, will honor him with a public procession on Wednesday.
'It was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral,' the city's lord mayor, Zafar Iqbal, wrote in a statement Monday.
Osbourne's hearse will journey down Broad Street, followed by vehicles containing his family members.
The Prince of Darkness, notably, is survived by wife Sharon Osbourne and their three children — Aimee Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne and Jack Osbourne.
Additionally, the musician was the father of Elliot Kingsley, Jessica Osbourne and Louis Osbourne from his previous marriage to Thelma Riley.
His family announced his passing on July 22, writing, 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.'
People reported Monday that Osbourne's family members have been 'touched by all the love and support pouring in from around the world.'
The source added, 'They're very grateful for the special family time they had together before Ozzy passed.'
The official cause of death for Ozzy, who suffered from a myriad of health issues including Parkinson's disease, has yet to be revealed.

THE BATMAN: PART II Production Start Date Confirmed For Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight Return — GeekTyrant

The Batman: Part II has locked in its production start date, and the wait for the next chapter of Matt Reeves' brooding Bat-saga is finally moving forward. Ever since The Batman hit theaters back in 2022 with Robert Pattinson donning the cape and cowl, fans have been waiting to dive back into Reeves' gritty, noir take on Gotham City. The film cleaned up at the global box office, raking in $772.3 million and setting the stage for Reeves' Batman Epic Crime Saga , which expanded with this year's The Penguin starring Colin Farrell. Now we've got a solid update on when cameras will start rolling. According to a listing on via ComicBookMovie, The Batman: Part II is set to begin filming on January 1, 2026, at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London. The listing reveals that 'pre-production is ramping up in London,' and adds: 'Production leads are organizing departments and hiring for production design, art direction, stunt coordination, costume, makeup, grip, lighting, camera, VFX, and post-production planning. 'Leavesden offers access to high-end soundstages and set-building facilities—ideal for Gotham's gritty transformation and sweeping practical environments.' Plot details are still tightly sealed, but there is a glimpse into what the sequel will explore. According to the listing: 'The sequel explores Gotham's slow recovery from the devastating flood caused by the Riddler in the previous film, tackling themes of societal division, power dynamics, and moral ambiguity. 'Reeves has described Batman's new journey as operating in a more complex and 'greyer' world — raising the stakes for character-driven tension and visual storytelling.' The script, written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, was just recently completed. So while we're still in the dark on specific story beats, it's clear this next chapter will dive deeper into the psychological and political turmoil brewing in Gotham. Of course, Pattinson will return as the Dark Knight. The returning cast also includes Farrell, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. The site also notes that Barry Keoghan is 'expected' to return as the Joker, though Warner Bros. hasn't officially confirmed that just yet. The Batman: Part II is set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.

Saturday's Lotto jackpot estimated at £7.3m after no ticket wins top prize

Saturday's lottery jackpot will be an estimated £7.3 million after no players won Wednesday's top prize. The winning Lotto numbers were 17, 31, 47, 05, 58 and 09, while the bonus number was 35. No players matched all six main numbers, meaning the jackpot was missed, while no ticket-holders won £1 million by matching five of the six numbers plus the bonus ball. Set of balls 3 and draw machine Lotto2 were used in the first Lotto draw since the National Lottery paused over the weekend to enable the biggest technology upgrade in the game's 31-year history. In Lotto HotPicks, which uses the same numbers as the Lotto draw, no players matched all five numbers to win the £350,000 top prize. Two ticket-holders won £13,000 each after matching four of the five numbers. The winning Thunderball numbers were 19, 02, 27, 03 and 38, and the Thunderball was 11. No ticket-holders won £500,000 by matching all five numbers plus the Thunderball. One player matched all five regular numbers, which earned them £5,000.
