After Rahul Gandhi Shares Video Of ‘Wrongfully' Deleted Bihar Voters, EC Seeks Details
Last Updated: Bihar's chief electoral officer asked for EPIC numbers and other information of the featured electors in "prescribed format" for "necessary investigations" and "further action" Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday shared a video in which he claimed that he and other opposition leaders interacted with a group of people in poll-bound Bihar, whose names have been 'wrongfully" deleted from the draft electoral roll in the ongoing special intensive revision. In the video, Gandhi repeated his vote theft allegations and said he has evidence of 'vote chori" not only in Karnataka but also during the Maharashtra assembly elections. 'Those who voted in the last 4-5 elections, their votes were also stolen in Bihar. And, when asked the reason, only one answer was received – order has come from above. This is a fight for the rights of the poor – we will not stop. We will stop vote theft," Gandhi wrote in a post on X in Hindi, while sharing the video of the aggrieved persons from Bihar's Aurangabad district. Watch the video here: जिन लोगों ने पिछले 4-5 चुनावों में वोट किया, बिहार में उनका भी वोट चोरी कर लिया।और, जब वजह पूछा, तो एक ही जवाब मिला- ऊपर से ऑर्डर आया है।ये गरीबों के अधिकार की लड़ाई है – हम रुकेंगे नहीं। वोट चोरी रोक कर रहेंगे। — Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) August 18, 2025 The interaction took place during the 'Vote Adhikar Yatra', where Gandhi was accompanied by allies Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD and Dipankar Bhattacharya of the CPI-ML Liberation. The leaders have been travelling together for the 15-day rally, which began on Sunday (August 17). The video, however, prompted a response from Bihar's chief electoral officer (CEO) who sought details of the group of people featured in the video. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has asked for the EPIC numbers and other information of the electors in the 'prescribed format" for 'necessary investigations" and 'further action". 'Please provide the EPIC numbers and other detailed information of the electors displayed in the video in the prescribed format, so that necessary investigations can be conducted and further action can be taken in this regard," the CEO wrote in a post on X. The CEO requested aid for the concerned electors by registering their claims and objections as the last date for doing so is September 1. 'It is also requested that assistance be provided to the concerned electors by facilitating the registration of their claims and objections during the claim-objection period. The last date for registering claims and objections is September 1, 2025," the CEO said. 'As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, any booth-level agent of a political party can submit claims and objections in the prescribed format and declaration form. Additionally, any voter can individually submit claims and objections in Forms 6, 7, and 8…" The Bihar CEO further said this facility is available on the Election Commission of India's (ECI) portal Applications can also be submitted online by scanning the provided QR code, the CEO added. view comments First Published: August 18, 2025, 22:07 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
