Suspect armed with pellet gun targeted two residences in Pickering and Ajax: police

Police in the Durham Region are searching for a suspect who separately targeted two residences in Ajax and Pickering, shooting at a vehicle and a house with a pellet gun.
Police said a male suspect attended a residence near Alanbury Crescent and Lynn Heights in Pickering multiple times between Dec. 30, 2024, and May 13, 2025.
'The suspect vandalized the same vehicle on three separate occasions. The acts of vandalism included slashing the tires, smashing the rear window, and shooting the windows with a pellet gun,' police said in a news release on Wednesday.
The suspect is described as a white male with a slender build between 16 and 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, grey jogging pants, and black/white shoes.
Meanwhile, a residence in the area of Ventura Lane and Ducatel Crescent was attacked three times between April 11 and May 3.
Police said during the first two, a male suspect damaged vehicles.
'During the most recent incident, the suspect returned and fired pellets at the house, resulting in damaged windows,' police said.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s with a thin build. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, light-coloured jogging pants, and white shoes.
Police have not said why the two residences were targeted but believe they are connected.
No injuries were reported.
They have released images of the suspects and are asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2529 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Tisdale mayor personally offering $1000 to double reward for info about vandalized crosswalk
The Town of Tisdale is not only condemning vandalism that defaced a Pride crosswalk with a black swastika, it's also offering a $2,000 reward to find who is responsible. 'The first thing that goes through your mind is how disappointed I am in these individuals who acted before they even thought about what they actually did. They didn't think it through,' Mayor Roy Skoglund said. Man arrested after fleeing collision scene in stolen Montreal police cruiser
A 32-year-old man was arrested after fleeing the scene of an accident in a stolen police cruiser in Montreal's Plateau-Mont-Royal borough. Police say they were called around 4:50 pm after a vehicle struck a cyclist near the intersection of Avenue du Parc Lafontaine and Roy Street. When officers arrived, they exited their vehicle to establish a perimeter, and that's when the driver was able to get into the police cruiser to leave the scene, said police spokesperson Véronique Dubuc. Police say the driver was stopped minutes later at the intersection of Papineau Avenue and Gilford Street. While behind the wheel of the cruiser, the driver damaged several other vehicles and injured a 25-year-old woman who was in her car.

Police watchdog clears Kingston, Ont. officers after vehicle theft suspect punched, tasered

Ontario's police watchdog agency says three Kingston police officers did not commit a crime when they struck a suspect several times and shot him with a Taser in February. According to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), the incident began at around noon on Feb. 17. A woman called police to report a family member had stolen her vehicle. Police attempted to arrest the 36-year-old suspect at a home near Henderson Boulevard and Bayridge Drive. The SIU says the suspect was 'under the heavy influence of cocaine' and had attempted to take the officers' weapons. 'The officers punched the man's head and torso multiple times, and used their conducted energy weapons (CEWs). Additional officers arrived, and an officer delivered several hand strikes before officers were able to handcuff the man,' the SIU said in a news release Friday. 'The man was taken to hospital and eventually diagnosed with a brain bleed.' The SIU concluded, however, that the officers' use of force was not excessive, given the circumstances. 'There is no doubt that significant force was used by the officers – upwards of ten punches and multiple CEW deployments. That force, however, was proportionate to the nature and extent of the Complainant's resistance. Despite being outmanned and repeatedly tasered, he was able to prevent [the officers] from handcuffing his arms,' the report into the incident says. 'Of particular note were the efforts by the Complainant to dispossess the officers of their CEWs and firearms. At that point, the risk to the officers increased exponentially, entitling them to escalate their use of force to prevent that risk from materializing.' The file was closed with no charges to the officers involved.
