Only Fools and Horses 'lost' scene emerges from classic episode in signed script
A 'lost' scene from a classic Only Fools and Horses Christmas special has emerged in a signed script that is set to go up for auction later this month.
The beloved BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, a true icon of British telly since its debut in 1981, has thrown up a surprise for fans.
One of the most cherished episodes is the Christmas special where Del Boy (played by David Jason) and Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) hilariously don Batman and Robin costumes.
But now, a previously unseen scene from this festive favourite has been discovered in a newly unearthed signed script that's going under the hammer later this month.
The axed scene reveals Del Boy heroically knocking out a mugger with his suitcase full of hooky gear. When the coppers turn up, Del proudly proclaims: "It's alright, officer, I caught him, he's over there!"
In a classic case of mistaken identity, the officer mistakenly nicks Rodney instead of the actual crook Del caught, reports Bristol Live.
This gem of a find was part of the personal collection of the late Roger Lloyd Pack, known to millions as Trigger, and will be auctioned off on June 30 at Auctioneum in Bristol.
Chatting with The Sun, auctioneer Andy Stowe described the script as "comedy history, in black and white."
Andy, who's also a big fan of the series, shared his excitement, saying: "As a fan of the show myself, I was flicking through the script and began to read lines of dialogue that I didn't recognise.
"As I carried on reading, I realised that these were scenes and lines that had been cut from the episode. Some of them are very funny."
It appears that it wasn't just the arrest mix-up that was left on the cutting room floor, as another scene was completely scrapped.
The scene sees Del and Rodney hastily exiting their flat as a collection of dubious alarm clocks begin to ring.
As they make their way to Del's Capri Ghia, they stumble upon a gang of muggers loitering. However, the arrival of Del and Rodney, accompanied by the sound of alarms in the backdrop, sends them running.
The script bears the signatures of numerous cast members, including David Jason and the late John Challis, who portrayed Boycie in the BBC sitcom.
At present, it's expected to fetch between £2,000 and £3,000, with actor Lloyd Pack highlighting his lines in black ink.

Or more specifically - with Little Helen, her inner child. After a gentle nudge from her therapist (okay, more of a firm suggestion), Helen is reconnecting with the tiny version of herself, full of all her childhood hopes and dreams. The result? Bauer's most personal and vulnerable show to date: Bless Her. This is a show about learning to love yourself - especially when that feels next to impossible. With Bless Her, Bauer opens the door to the serious stuff she's spent most of her career avoiding. Behind her famously tall, German-engineered walls, Helen is confronting the messy reality of what it means to be human. 'This show terrifies me,' Bauer admits. 'Finding my compassionate voice is... very much a work in progress.' This is Helen's reminder to you (and herself) that it's okay not to have it all figured out, so come laugh, squirm, and maybe even feel seen in the chaos of Bless Her.
