'We want to get him fit' - St Mirren boss has plans for former Cork City man Dijksteel
The original plan for the Dutchman joining the Scottish Premiership club in January was fast-tracked last week following a public spat with his City manager Ger Nash.
It transpired the 24-year-old had, in fact, made himself available for last Friday week's game against Sligo Rovers despite claims to the contrary from his manager.
City received a small fee for brokering a deal that suited all parties and the winger was named on the bench for Sunday's league opener against Celtic.
Robinson introduced his new capture late on in the game played before bumper opening day crowd of 58,814.
The Buddies were three minutes away from holding Celtic until Luke McCowan's deflected winner punctured their resistance.
Lisburn-born Robinson also blooded another former League of Ireland graduate at Paradise.
Tunmise Sobowale was two years ago sold by his hometown club Waterford to Shrewsbury Town and via a spell at Swindon Town was recently recruited by the Saints.
Killian Phillips, who made his Ireland debut in the summer friendlies, also arrived in Paisley over the summer, upgrading his loan from Crystal Palace into a permanent deal.
'We've seen an incredible piece of athleticism from Tunmise but he's not played any football,' said Robinson after the wing-back's 15-minute league bow.
'Malik was only in the building two days and I'm not sure he touched the ball after he came on.
'We want to get these boys fit to have them as options, starting with next week. There's a reserve game this week and hopefully we'll have more selection headaches for our next game against Motherwell.'
Liam Scales and Adam Idah started for Celtic, with Sligo native Johnny Kenny replacing the latter with 12 minutes left.
Celtic were on Monday paired against either Kazakhstan outfit Kairy Almaty or Slovan Bratislava in the playoff round of the Champions League to be played in just over a fortnight. Idah was influential in the Bhoys' run to the knockout playoffs, where they lost in February to a late Bayern Munich goal.

Shelbourne shock Rijeka on the road in Europa League
Second-half goals from Sam Bone and John Martin saw Shelbourne come from behind and defeat Croatian champions Rijeka 2-1 away from the home in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round meeting at the Stadion HNK Rijeka. Joey O'Brien and his players are now 90 minutes away from securing league phase football through the autumn and winter, going into the return fixture at Tolka Park. The Reds had to do it the hard way, against a side that were downed in extra time by Bulgarian heavyweights Ludogorets Razgrad last week in the Champions League. Rijeka were determined to build on this and Shelbourne responded by sitting tight in a conventional 4-4-2 that had Kerr McInroy doing the running between the forward line and midfield. Wessel Speel was the hero on the night through all of this as the goalkeeper made a number of big saves. This began with Amer Gojak in the in the 22nd minute when a low shot from the former Bosnia and Herzegovina international was stopped by the Minnesota United loanee. Niko Jankovic followed that up after getting around Milan Mbeng and his effort was easily caught at the near post. The midfielder got into a similar position at the end of the half and this time Speel dived low to deny the midfielder. O'Brien used half-time to reset and out of this moment of reflection came a change to the forwards, with Daniel Kelly replacing Mipo Udobeko. As everything settled down after the restart, Merveil Ndockyt was fouled inside the area by Speel and the resulting penalty was fired in by Jankovic in the 56th minute. Shelbourne equalised just 90 seconds later through a McInroy corner that was knocked on for Martin to turn in. Justas Lasickas retaliated for Rijeka and his right footed strike from the edge of the area was punched out by Speel, but the resulting set-piece came to nothing. The Reds brushed off this incursion and pushed up the right flank, where Mbeng found an overlapping Harry Wood. The midfielder crossed for Martin to head in at the far post and Shelbourne led 2-1 in the 70th minute. Everything slowed down after that as the game turned into a war of attrition. Jamie Carragher uncomfortable about Liverpool's mega money move for Alexander Isak
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has questioned whether the Anfield club should break their transfer record for a second time this summer to complete a deal for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. After Liverpool had a bid of around £110m for Isak rejected by Newcastle last week, the striker is in limbo as he waits to discover if a second offer will be lodged by the Premier League champions. Newcastle have stated that they don't want to sell Isak and that inspired Liverpool to suggest they would not return with a second offer for the striker. Yet there is still a strong suspicion that this deal could be revived in this summers transfer window and that has inspired Carragher to voice his concern that the move for Isak 'feels a bit messy'. Speaking on the Overlap's pre-season show, the 2005 Champions League winner questioned whether Liverpool should be spending so much money on Isak after sealing big money deals for Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike this summer. 'He will be an amazing signing, but from a fan's point of view for myself, I don't want Liverpool to spend £150 million on Isak,' said Carragher. 'There's something about Liverpool buying another striker [Hugo Ekitike], and he's backup. 'Something about it doesn't feel right to me. I know Liverpool need numbers, for a number of reasons, at the top of the pitch. 'I look at Isak, and he's obviously thrown his toys out the pram once Arsenal signed a striker and Liverpool signed a striker. 'From his point of view and from his agent's point of view, do they not tell Newcastle months ago that they wanted to move on? It feels a bit messy to me now. 'For me, when I think of Liverpool, it doesn't look really planned – I don't think the plan is to buy a striker for £80 million, and then be looking to buy another one for £120 million.' The 25-year-old Sweden striker did not travel with his Newcastle team-mates on their pre-season trip to Singapore and South Korea, citing an injury as the reason for his absence. He has been training at former club Real Sociedad, but has been back in Newcastle in recent days as he awaits developments on his possible move to Liverpool.
