Nintendo details Switch 2 updates for Switch games
Nintendo announced last month that it would be updating a handful of Switch games to run better on the Switch 2, and now some details about the planned improvements are available on its website. The improvements vary per game, but they include things like optimizing visuals for the Switch 2's larger screen, better framerates, HDR support, and GameShare support.
The full list of games getting free updates is below, and you can see the specific updates on Nintendo's website. The updates will all be available on June 5th, the same day the Switch 2 launches:
These updates aren't quite as big as the paid Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrades for games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Party Jamboree. But if you're looking to revisit some older Switch games on the Switch 2, even the smaller improvements could feel welcome – especially for games like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and the Link's Awakening remake that sometimes struggled on the original Switch hardware.

It looks like iPhones, including the expected iPhone 17, could get a big boost from an upgrade to their wireless MagSafe chargers. According to a report by 91mobiles, a recent image of Apple MagSafe chargers showed model numbers that support the Qi 2.2 charging standard. 91mobiles spotted the photos on Taiwan's National Communications Commission website. The NCC is the regulatory body that verifies devices for telecom products. Qi standard is set by the Wireless Power Consortium, consisting of hundreds of companies like Apple, Samsung and Google. In a post to X, 91mobiles shared a rendering of what the new charger could look like: If the rumors are true, it would mean Apple is jumping from its current Qi 2.0, which supports up to 15W wireless charging. The iPhone 16 series, except for the 16E, supports 25W wireless charging with a new MagSafe charger and power brick that Apple rolled out last year. The Qi 2.2 standard supports speeds of 50W, according to 91mobiles. That kind of increase in charging would be impressive, although outside the US, a lot of Chinese phones -- like those from Xiaomi, Oppo and OnePlus -- support 80W to 100W wireless charging. Qi 2.2 could also improve magnetic alignment, so your iPhone snaps to the charger correctly and quickly. That could potentially improve charging efficiency and reduce heat generation. And for those of us who want to hold onto our old phones instead of upgrading to the new iPhone, Qi 2.2 promises backward compatibility to as far back as the iPhone 11. The report comes just days ahead of Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference, at which the company provides updates about its latest software for iPhones and other devices. Namco-Backed AI-Powered Light Gun Brings ‘Time Crisis' To Modern TVs
The G'AIM'E light gun could finally be the gateway back to classic shooters that so many people have ... More craved. One of the great casualties of modern technology was the demise of the light gun, which demanded classic CRTs to work properly. Sure, the Wii came tantalizingly close to replicating the experience with The House of the Dead: Overkill and Link's Crossbow Training, but it wasn't the same. Luckily, the powerhouse behind the gun-based arcade revolution — Bandai Namco — has backed a new light gun that promises to bring the experience to modern TVs, with in-built games including Time Crisis, Point Blank, and Steel Gunner… so long as it meets its soon-to-be announced Kickstarter target. The G'AIM'E gun, created in partnership with Namco by established Japanese electronics firm Tassei Denki, claims to have solved the conundrum with a plug-and-play setup that contains proprietary technology, replacing traditional infrared sensors with a high-resolution camera and AI for more responsive gameplay. What's more, the G'AIM'E promises to eliminate manual recalibration by automatically adjusting the experience to movement and angle, ensuring performance remains consistent regardless of your setup. Those backing the entry-level gun will receive a custom-licensed version of Time Crisis, recreated from the original arcade ROM. Point Blank, Steel Gunner, and Steel Gunner 2 will be available in expanded packages, which also include additional bonuses such as foot pedals and keychains. The gun is only available in blue outside of Japan, which gets a black option – potentially to avoid replica gun restrictions in other countries. The unit supports multiplayer modes with two gun connectors, essential for Point Blank. The one major thing it lacks is a recoil slider — a staple of the GunCon and a few of its rivals. That said, I don't think I've seen a working recoil in an arcade in about ten years, so maybe it's just one less thing to inevitably break. The Japanese bundles will likely be replicated for other markets, albeit with a blue gun, not a ... More black one. There's no information as to whether more games can be loaded at a later date — you'd hope the Bandai Namco partnership might lead to the inclusion of series like The House of the Dead, Virtua Cop, Crisis Zone, and even the other Point Blank and Time Crisis titles. However, presuming the Kickstarter succeeds (which, let's face it, there's basically no chance it will — pending its cost, or course), it's probably only a matter of time before someone mods the unit so people can play other classics of the era: Die Hard Trilogy, Resident Evil Survivor, Area 51 and, if we're lucky, the delightfully baffling Puffy: P.S. I Love You. Given that this is Tassei Denki's first-ever original product — and presuming it's successful — one can only hope the company will lean on its existing partnerships to create something for consoles, reviving niche genres in the same way CRKD is with its Les Paul-inspired Rock Band guitars. The G'AIM'E Plug & Play Time Crisis Gun System for Modern TVs will go live on Kickstarter at 12 noon EST on June 24. Pricing isn't available just yet, but given it's already touting ¥4,000 ($28) discounts for early-bird backers, chances are it'll be on or over the $100 mark for an entry-level kit.

This Might Be Nissan's New Sedan Before You're Supposed to See It
Update: This story has been updated with more information regarding Nissan's EV concept in China. Nissan has a massive product onslaught planned over the next few years. Alongside the latest Kicks and the updated Murano SUVs, the Japanese automaker has a new Leaf coming to the US as early as next year. But if these patent filings are any indication, there could be even more products on the horizon—and soon. Nissan recently filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization, as uncovered by Top Gear Philippines . The patent was filed in China on September 14 of last year and officially registered on May 9, 2025. It shows an updated Nissan sedan with the brand's latest design language. Nissan Patent Images Photo by: WIPO It's unclear whether these images show a new Sentra, Altima, Maxima, or something different entirely. The photos look nearly identical to the Evo concept from earlier last year, though they weren't officially filed until after that concept debuted. It could potentially be a production version of that vehicle. The patent also bears a similar resemblance to the Chinese Nissan N7 , but that sedan is larger and has more distinct cues. If this is a US-bound model, our best guess would be all-new Sentra or a revived Altima, which may be discontinued in the US after this year. The front fascia bears the automaker's new angular headlight treatment, which we've seen on the upcoming Leaf and a few of Nissan's previous concepts. The back end, meanwhile, has a slim light bar that encircles the trunk lid and stretches out to the rear bumper on either side. The profile almost makes it look like a fastback, which leads us to believe this is a mid-size sedan as opposed to a compact. We've seen spy photos of Nissan testing a sedan prototype in Michigan that looks nearly identical to the patent images pictured here. But even in those spy photos, it's difficult to tell if the car in question is the smaller Sentra or the mid-size Altima. Our best guess is a new hybrid system, potentially the turbocharged 1.5-liter hybrid unit from the plug-in-hybrid Frontier —which won't come to the US. That powertrain delivers 402 horsepower in the plug-in truck, but a detuned version of that could make sense in the smaller Sentra or Altima sedans. If this is indeed a new Sentra, don't expect to see a production version before 2027. The current model is still on sale in the US, and it likely won't change for 2026. With the Altima rumored to be discontinued after this year, we could see a new version of that sedan before the end of 2025. If we're lucky.
