Riders from King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery rehearse complex VE Day routine
Troops on 48 Irish draught horses performed a display on Parade Square, at Woolwich Barracks, south-east London, on Thursday.
The artillery were then seen practising a complex procedure known as a Musical Drive, where mounted gun teams performed choreographed manoeuvres before mock-firing 13-pound First World War-era guns.

'If we can do a Musical Drive, the ceremonial parade is a walk in the park,' he said.
In a Musical Drive, six-horse teams pull wheeled field guns at speed, echoing First World War military traditions, and perform technical moves such as the 'scissor' where gun teams cross.
'We cannot afford to get it wrong,' Sgt Renton said.
'We are the senior regiment of the British army and it is nice to know that.'
Following VE Day, the unit has a long summer ahead which will see them appear at the Royal Windsor Horse Show between May 15 and May 18.
Captain Iain Ritchie, who served in Nato's enhanced forward presence in Estonia, said the VE Day celebrations feel important, given the context of the war in Ukraine.
'Today, I think the sacrifices that those men and women made 80 years ago is even more relevant,' he said.
Captain Ritchie described how his grandfather, who was in the Royal Navy, influenced his ambition to join the forces, saying: 'I have his medals in my office and his pocket watch that he carried with him throughout the war still sits with me today.
'I'm sure VE Day means different things to all the soldiers but, you know, we've got to remember the sacrifices that those men and women made for us.'
Lance Bombardier Harry Hoult, 21, from Leicestershire, will be riding as the lead driver of a gun team in the VE Day parade.
'It's an incredible opportunity for me,' he said.
'My grandad is really proud. He had relatives who would have served in the war.
'He told me how proud he is of me. He is shocked really that people like me, so young, are on parade – front and centre.
'It is a chance of a lifetime,' he added.
Gunner Sallyanne Burberymayes, 27, from Brighton, described how excited her father, Alan, is to see her involved in the historic day, as he also served in the past.
'He is just as passionate as I am about it. He's my number one fan,' she said.
Gunner Burberymayes, who as a first-year apprentice farrier is learning the skilled craft of shoeing cavalry horses, added from her spot in the forge: 'The family are telling people to look out for me on TV.'

Glastonbury Festival ticket sales were reduced for 2025 to avoid overcrowding, says organiser
Glastonbury Festival has sold 'a few thousand less tickets' this year in a bid to avoid overcrowding, organiser Emily Eavis has said. The music festival, which usually has capacity for 210,000 people, is returning later this month, with British pop band The 1975, folk star Neil Young and his band the Chrome Hearts, and US pop singer Olivia Rodrigo topping the bill. In an appearance on the BBC Sidetracked podcast, the festival co-founder announced a number of changes to the festival. Revealing that the festival has managed to buy some land "just on the outside of the site" for crew members - Eavis also said that the music area Shangri-La will be "going full trees and green space" which is completely the opposite to anything they've done in the past." She added: "We've also sold a few thousand less tickets, so it will be interesting just to see how that affects the dynamics on site." In the interview, Eavis also commented on mystery secret act Patchwork, which is lined up to take to the Pyramid Stage on Saturday between 6pm and 7pm. Avoiding speculation, Eavis said: "I've been working on Patchwork for a long time." She also said that planning for their appearance had taken about a year for "logistical" reasons. The first group of 2025 tickets for coach travel went in less than 30 minutes too - all before headline acts were announced. Eavis said times have changed, adding: 'There were years where you just couldn't sell out, you just couldn't give them (the tickets) away.'

Five star performers for trainer Peter Easterby
Alverton A typical Easterby type in that he was precocious enough to be good on the Flat, finishing second in the 1976 Ebor, and hardy enough to be even better over jumps. Winner of the Arkle Trophy in 1978, he successfully stepped up in distance to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup the following year. It was close between him and Tied Cottage at the final fence where the Irish horse fell, leaving Alverton to coast home in the snow and mud. He started favourite for the Grand National in the same year and was going easily when suffering a fatal fall Becher's Brook on the second circuit. Goldhill Easterby may be better known for training stayers and jumpers, but it was the sprinter Goldhill that first put him on the map. After winning the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot in 1963, Goldhill would have gone there for the King's Stand Stakes in 1964 but the meeting was abandoned due to waterlogging. However, he put the record straight when taking the five-furlong feature in 1965. Coincidentally, Goldhill retired to stud and became a successful stallion, most notably siring dual Champion Hurdle winner Comedy Of Errors. Little Owl Little Owl led home a one-two for Easterby in the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1981 when denying his stablemate Night Nurse. The trainer picked up Little Owl for 2,300 guineas and the sky appeared to be the limit when he captured the big prize at the tender age of seven on only his fifth start over fences. It was not to be, though, as he was badly hit by a virus and was never anywhere near his best form again. Night Nurse A good Flat career was expected from this son of Falcon, but though he won a Ripon maiden at the age of three, it was over jumps that he made his name, winning 32 of his 64 races over obstacles. He was 'all heart', according to Easterby, and was one of the star turns in a golden era. He won the Champion Hurdle in 1976 and 1977 and in the latter year dead-heated with Monksfield, giving him 6lb, at Aintree. He also gave his all over fences and recovered from a bad injury to go down by only a length and a half to Little Owl in the Gold Cup in 1981. Sea Pigeon Sea Pigeon had been a good horse on the Flat for Jeremy Tree and over hurdles when with Gordon Richards, but became a great one under Easterby's guidance from early 1977. His exploits under both codes are legendary and it was his burst of speed that stood him out from the rest. A dual Chester Cup hero and memorable winner of the Ebor, it was his four consecutive appearances in the Champion Hurdle that are perhaps most fondly remembered. Second in 1978 and 1979, he finally lifted the prize in 1980 and repeated the trick the following year at the age of 11 under a vintage John Francome ride.
