Daily Mail4 days ago
's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock was saluted in an emotional tribute shared by his son from a previous relationship over the weekend, just days after his death at 48 from cancer.
Seth, 19, whom Brandon shares with his first wife Melissa Ashworth, shared photos of himself and his father going back to when he was just a small child.
Blackstock, who was revealed to have been battling melanoma, was seen in a relatively recent photo with his son in which he looked particularly thin compared to earlier pictures.
'I lost my hero yesterday, words can't describe how proud of you I am on raising me and your 3 other kids,' Seth wrote in his caption. "You were a father, a son, a brother, and most importantly my best friend.
'You'll have to watch me grow up from a Birds Eye view now buts that's OK with me. There's no one else on this earth that I would want to be my dad because no one can be half the man you were to me,' he continued. 'I'll see you everyday when the sun rises and falls.
'I can confidently say all the deer and elk took a sigh of relief when the best hunter I've ever known laid his rifle down for the last time,' Seth concluded. 'I love you so much and can't wait to throw a line in the water with you again. Love you dad. Be good or good at it — love your son Seth.'
Blackstock also shares an older daughter named Savannah, 23, with his first wife.
One photo from Seth's post, taken when he appeared to be a toddler, showed him grinning ear-to-her as his father beamed proudly behind him.
Another photo showed Seth a little older as he and his sister Savannah played with their German Shepherd dog and their dad outdoors.
Brandon appeared to share his love of life on the ranch with his son, as their were multiple photos of the two tending to livestock and at what looked like rodeo competitions.

Ashworth paid her own tribute to her ex-husband in a post from Saturday featuring a photo of Blackstock with Savannah and her son Lake.
'On May 29, 1999 I married the man who would become the father of my children. Brandon was full of charm, wit, and just an absolute gentleman who happened to wear cowboy boots, wrangler jeans, and a cowboy hat,' she captioned her post.
'He was by far, hands down, the best Daddy and Pa. He loved hard and he fought hard,' Ashworth continued. 'The best thing Brandon has left for his children is they know where he is.

'I've heard it said, "Nothing is lost when you know where it is" and Brandon is with Jesus his Savior. Savannah, Seth, and our grandchildren are the best parts of who Brandon and I are. Thank you all for your prayers and condolences ✝️,' she wrote.
Ashworth concluded her post with a black-and-white photo of her and Blackworth smiling for the camera on their wedding day.
In addition to his children with his first wife, Blackstock also shared his daughter River, 11, and son Remington, nine, with Clarkson.
Blackstock, a talent manager and the former stepson of country superstar Reba McEntire, was married to the American Idol star from 2013–2022.
The news of Blackstock's death came hours after Clarkson revealed she was postponing the remaining dates on her Las Vegas residency in August due to her ex-husband's illness.
A representative for the family said in a statement: 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away.
'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.
'We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.'
Blackstock had been battling melanoma, according to TMZ.
Melanoma is a serious form of skin cancer that develops in the cells responsible for skin pigmentation, according to the Mayo Clinic. It is caused by exposed to ultraviolet light, and melanoma usually develops on parts of the skin that are regularly exposed to the sun, a major source of UV light.
Clarkson, 43, and Blackstock welcomed two children, River, 11, and Remington, nine, before their split in 2020.
Blackstock also had two children from a previous marriage, Savannah, 23, and Seth, 19 and a grandson, Lake.
One month before Blackstock's death, Savannah announced she was expecting her second child, a baby girl.
She wrote on Instagram: 'We've been keeping a couple sweet surprises. One little girl will be making her arrival at the beginning of January and another beautiful girl named Julianna who has already been one of the greatest blessings to our family.
'The Lord has been so faithful. He's written a story we never could've imagined, and His kindness in this season has left us in awe. He's answered prayers we never even knew how to pray. This journey has been so special full of peace, excitement, and so much grace. We're growing again, and our hearts are so full. Thank you, Jesus.'
Blackstock was last pictured in March of this year, looking frail as he joined River and Remington at the Houston Rodeo with his brother Shelby and McEntire.
Blackstock's father, film producer Narvel Blackstock, was married to McEntire from 1989–2015 and they share Shelby, 35.
In a statement shared to X on Wednesday, Clarkson revealed that it was a health-related issue with Blackstock that forced her to step away from the stage.
'Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,' she wrote.
'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.
'I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding,' she concluded.
Clarkson didn't include information about what would happen to fans who had already purchased tickets to her postponed residency dates.
Clarkson's relationship with Blackstock began in 2012, and the two tied the knot the following year.
They had both a romantic and professional relationship at first, as her husband also served as her manager.
Clarkson's 2015 song Piece By Piece was written in honor of Blackstock, who she said gave her security her father never did.
However, Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020 on grounds of irreconcilable differences, and the two were subsequently engaged in years of legal wrangling related to their finances.
Their messy divorce was reported to have been finalized in March of 2022, but it wasn't until a year later that Clarkson won a $2.6 million judgment against her husband.
Clarkson had claimed her husband owed her millions in commissions that he should not have been able to collect for deals that he set up that should have been handled by a talent agent, rather than her manager, and the California Labor Commissioner ultimately agreed.
It ruled that Blackstock had overstepped by working around Clarkson's agents at Creative Artists Agency.
In May 2024, the warring exes finally reached a settlement in Clarkson's lawsuit over the commission fees.
The hitmaker had previously won the $2.6 million judgement for deals Blackstock had secured for her going back to 2017, but she had claimed he had been taking the place of her talent agents while serving as her manager going back as far as 2007, so she had requested a more thorough accounting of commissions paid to her ex-husband.
Although Clarkson and Blackstock both requested that her lawsuit be dismissed after the settlement was reached, the details of the agreement were not publicly disclosed.
In 2022, the Moment Like This singer had agreed to pay her ex-husband a $1.3 million lump sum as part of their divorce settlement.
They also agreed that Clarkson would pay Blackstock $45,601 per month in child support payments.
On top of that, she had to pay Blackstock $115,000 per month for spousal support, though those payments were set to end in January of last year.
The exes agreed to share joint custody of River and Remington, but the children would primarily live in Los Angeles with their mother and would visit Blackstock at his home in Montana for one weekend per month.
At the time, he was paying Clarkson rent on the ranch that they had shared in Montana before he was scheduled to move out in June 2022.
The settlement allowed Blackstock to retain control of their farm animals, including cattle, dogs and horses, as well as multiple vehicles for use around the property, including an ATV, snowmobiles and two pickup trucks: a Ford F-350 and an F-250.
Clarkson got to keep the small family pets in the deal, as well as a baby grand piano, hunting items and all of their firearms, both from before and during their marriage.
Earlier this year, the TV star was mysteriously absent from her eponymous talk show for multiple weeks, missing 10 shows in total.
Clarkson didn't explain her absence at the time, though in May she complained on stage about the show's demanding schedule, she she said kept her from touring as much as she wanted to.
The singer previously told People she 'never wanted to get married the first time.'
'[Brandon] had children, a religious background, and it was important, I think, for him. But I've never been that person. Because I've been through a couple divorces in my family, I just don't like to put any weight on it.'
The Miss Independent hitmaker also believes that 'love is not forever'.
Kelly explained: 'I've always known that love is hard.
'For me, love has always come with this elephant in the room of sadness. I've known love is not forever. I don't mean that to sound depressing, but I think we put a lot of pressure on that word.
'Sometimes love is looking at someone and going, 'This is not good for you. This is not good for me.' That's a hard thing to face. But when you do, I think you grow.'

Selena Gomez stunned as she donned pink lingerie for a new selfie that was shared to her main Instagram page on Friday. The 33-year-old actress - who recently glammed up to celebrate the launch of her Rare Beauty perfume - took the snap in the reflection of a vanity mirror inside what appeared to be a spacious bedroom. She wore a pink slip with lace details and allowed her dark locks to brush her shoulders in natural waves. Selena additionally sported a pair of pink-rimmed glasses as she showed off the look before settling in for the evening. Behind her was a television that seemingly had the series How I Met Your Mother playing in the background. A lit candle could be seen on the vanity while a light above the star created an orange hue. The selfie was included in an Instagram carousel, with another image showing Selena enjoying a dinner with her fiancé Benny Blanco and other pals. The former Disney channel star donned an all-black ensemble as she took the picture while the group was seated outside. The Wolves singer continued to give her fans a glimpse at other recent moments from her life, such as another mirror selfie she took inside a public bathroom. Selena wore a cropped, black tank as well as black trousers as she held a big smile on her face. She also snapped another selfie as she lounged on a comfy couch, and revealed that she was indulging in a Pedialyte freezer popsicle. The Pedialyte popsicles can help with dehydration while also replenishing lost fluids and electrolytes. Selena included a rare image with her younger half-sister Gracie as they spent time on a rooftop together that was decked out in disco-themed decor for the star's 33rd birthday bash last month. Selena put on a glamorous display in a $2,298 Cult Gaia Renata dress that clung to her frame and fell down past her ankles. Her hair was parted in the middle and pulled back into a chic up do and the actress also opted for a nude-colored tint to her lips. Other celebrities were also spotted at the event last week, including fellow singer Becky G. The songstress has been keeping busy as the summer season begins to wind down to a close, and recently attended a wedding with her fiancé Benny. Selena jumped to Instagram to share moments from the nuptials of rapper-comedian David 'Lil Dicky' Burd and producer Kristin Batalucco. The star made a bold statement wearing a $498 backless red Cult Gaia 'Katara' dress for the ceremony while Benny kept it casual in a blue tracksuit. Selena also included pictures of both the bride and groom, and in another snap, the actress laid a loving kiss on the side of her fiancé's face. The couple are also preparing for a wedding of their own - after announcing their engagement late last year in December. At the time, the former Disney channel star revealed that Benny had proposed to her during a romantic picnic on a set. She posted a series of snaps to her main Instagram page that had captured the special moment. In one image, the star only showed her left hand to give her followers a close-up glimpse of the eye-catching diamond ring. Last month in July, details of Selena and Benny's alleged wedding was also revealed to Daily Mail. A source stated that the couple plan to allegedly tie the knot later this year in September in Montecito, California. A source said, 'Selena and Benny's wedding is going to be a two-day event in Montecito in September.' Close family and friends will be invited, including the actress's BFF Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce. 'Everyone invited has been asked to bring overnight bags to stay for the weekend,' the insider also added. Due to Selena and Benny's busy schedules, a wedding in September was the 'ideal' time for the two stars. 'Selena loves being engaged but she has been dreaming of being married forever,' a separate source told Daily Mail. 'At the end of the year, it gets busy, not only for them, but also for everyone they want to attend.' Another insider also shut down speculation that the wedding date was to 'accommodate' Taylor's own schedule. 'Selena is not having her wedding to accommodate Taylor, but she wants her to attend and she would love for her to be able to go with Travis.' The Only Murders In The Building actress has also revealed an unconventional menu item that she wants at her upcoming wedding. In a TikTok clip that was shared to Rare Beauty's account last month, the star said, 'My preferred dessert would be biscuits and gravy.' Selena continued, 'My Nana's biscuits and gravy. That sounds like dessert to me. Whenever that day comes, I do know I don't want a big cake.' In regards to what kind of cake she would want, the singer explained, 'I think I'd want a mini one, for just us, that we can freeze.' However, Benny also revealed in July that both he and Selena have yet to start making wedding plans. During an episode of Therapuss With Jake Shane, he explained, 'Not yet, that's why we both need to chill. We've both been working so much. 'We got engaged and then we were filming music videos for our album, then then it's holidays, then right after the holidays we had to start all the promo for our stuff, do that.' The record producer later said that they have been both 'working on so many things that we hadn't even had time to get into it but we're so excited.'

Michelle Obama weighs in on Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese rivalry after WNBA racism investigation

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has given her verdict on Caitlin Clark 's rivalry with Angel Reese and the 'hate' that follows two of the WNBA 's biggest stars. Clark and Reese have helped catapult women's basketball to new heights - both during their college days and since they joined the WNBA. The last time they faced off, in the Fever-Sky clash on Week 1 of this season, the rivalry between Clark and Reese ratcheted up another notch. The Indiana star knocked Reese to the ground, prompting a furious reaction from the Chicago forward. Following the game, the WNBA launched an investigation into alleged 'racist' comments directed at Reese. This week, Obama discussed the rivalry during an appearance on the 'All the Smoke' podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Clark. 'I think the tough thing is the social media element to it - but that's true across the board,' the former First Lady said. View this post on Instagram A post shared by All the Smoke (@allthesmoke) Ex-First Lady Michelle Obama has given her verdict on Caitlin Clark's rivalry with Angel Reese 'These young kids today, what they have to go through, what they have to be able to withstand, because social media is such a huge part of the world.' Obama, who recently compared ESPN and Stephen A. Smith to ' Real Housewives of Atlanta,' added that athletes today now can't escape 'the hate' that is bred by a rivalry such as this. 'Now the hate is in your room, on your phone, with you all the time. And you can't, for whatever reason, tell these kids to turn it off, because they're making their living that way. 'Now they are expected to stay engaged. So, I think that makes it feel even worse. But I think, as you point out, that's happening in sports across gender. It's just harder not to withstand other people's horrible, horrible opinions.' Clark and the Fever beat Reese's Sky 93-58 in the season opener, with Clark called for a flagrant foul for her part in their confrontation. Ten days after the game, the WNBA announced it could not 'substantiate' reports of 'racist fan behavior' at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. 'Based on information gathered to date, including from relevant fans, team and arena staff, as well as audio and video review of the game, we have not substantiated it,' the league said in a statement. Clark and Reese have not faced off since that May 17 game, with both battling injuries in recent months.
