Was Kim Sae Ron's audio informant never attacked by Kim Soo Hyun's side? New claims question Garosero's allegations

Pink Villa19-05-2025
Speculations surrounding an alleged assault on the informant who provided the late actress Kim Sae Ron's audio recording have been circulating. However, those claims have now been officially debunked.
The Consulate General of South Korea in New York has stepped forward to clarify the situation. They stated that no Korean citizen has been arrested or detained within their jurisdiction in connection with any such incident. This revelation casts serious doubts over the sensational claims that initially sparked widespread media attention and public concern.
On May 18, the consulate released a statement addressing the rumors. They began circulating following a press conference hosted by the YouTube-based outlet Garosero Institute and Bu Ji Seok. Bu is the attorney representing the bereaved family of Kim Sae Ron. They had claimed that the informant who provided them with the alleged audio recording had recently been attacked.
The recording purportedly captured a private conversation involving Kim Sae Ron and contained sensitive information implicating actor Kim Soo Hyun. Many believe their claims implied that Kim Soo Hyun and his agency was somehow involved in the attack.
However, the South Korean consulate made it clear that no such case had been brought to their attention. Under Article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, any arrest or detainment of a Korean national abroad must be immediately reported to the appropriate consulate. The New York office confirmed that they had not received any notification from U.S. law enforcement agencies regarding such an incident.
In addition, speculation that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had opened a probe into the alleged assault was dismissed. The consulate clarified that they had no access to such information and emphasized that it was outside their purview. This further eroded the credibility of the original claims shared by Garosero.
Online, public reaction has been swift. Many netizens had already expressed doubts about the veracity of the informant attack story. They now believe the incident may have been fabricated or heavily exaggerated to drum up attention. Several commentators pointed out the lack of basic reporting protocols and verification, especially given the gravity of the accusations.
The situation stems from a press conference held on May 7. During the conference, an audio file was played in which a voice believed to be Kim Sae Ron's discussed her alleged past relationship with actor Kim Soo Hyun. In the conversation, she reportedly referred to engaging in a physical relationship with him while she was still in middle school.
Garosero justified the public release of the audio by claiming the informant who provided the clip had been violently attacked and needed protection. Yet with the consulate now firmly denying any record of such an incident, questions have arisen regarding the motivations behind releasing the tape and the legitimacy of the evidence.
While the dust has not yet settled on this scandal, the new clarification from the New York consulate is likely to shift the public narrative. Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun has yet to issue a direct response regarding this update.

Devendra Fadnavis shares update on elephant Mahadevi's return from Reliance's Vantara

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday held discussions with officials of the Vantara project, an animal rescue and rehabilitation centre run by the Reliance Foundation in Gujarat's Jamnagar, regarding the return of the elephant Mahadevi. The elephant Mahadevi has been with the Swasthishri Jinsen Bhattarak, a Kolhapur-based trust belonging to the Jain discipline, since 1992.(HT photo) A Vantara official assured Fadnavis of full cooperation with the Maharashtra government in the legal process, stating that the centre has no intention of keeping Mahadevi, a 36-year-old arthritic elephant, in its possession and is only caring for her in compliance with a Supreme Court order. 'I had a detailed discussion in Mumbai with senior officials of Vanatara management. They have assured me that Vanatara has decided to participate in the petition that the Maharashtra Government has resolved to file, seeking the safe return of the elephant Mahadevi (Madhuri) to Nandani Math,' Fadnavis posted on X. 'During the discussion, they informed me that they were only complying with the orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court and had no intention of taking custody of Mahadevi the elephant on their own,' the chief minister added. Fadnavis also said Vanatara has expressed willingness to fully assist the state government in setting up a rehabilitation centre for Mahadevi near Nandani Math in Kolhapur district on the land selected by the forest department. Following a public outcry, Fadnavis earlier assured that his government will explore legal options to bring Mahadevi back to a Jain shrine in Kolhapur, days after she was relocated to Vantara. After holding a meeting over the matter on Tuesday, Fadnavis said, 'Considering the public sentiments, the state government will intervene in the legal process to bring back the Mahadevi elephant. The Jain shrine will submit a review petition in the Supreme Court, and the state government will help them by submitting an intervention application.' The chief minister also indicated that the state forest department can set up a centre with facilities similar to Vantara at the Kolhapur shrine to take care of the elephant. Mahadevi, also known as Madhuri, was with the Swastishri Jinsen Bhattarak Pattacharya Mahaswamy Sanstha at Nandani in Kolhapur for over three decades before the Supreme Court last month upheld the Bombay high court's decision to relocate her to the Radhe Krishna Temple Elephant Welfare Trust in Jamnagar, managed by Vantara, for better care and rehabilitation. This was after animal welfare organisations such as the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) approached the court, underlining the physically frail pachyderm's poor health and arguing that she was not getting proper care at the temple. The Supreme Court upheld the high court order on July 22, after which Mahadevi was given a tearful farewell from the temple and shifted to Vantara on July 28.

A report is going to be taken and it's going to be sent to an officer over there,' the officer explained. In a statement to SanDiegoVille, SDPD Lt. Travis Easter said: 'We are aware of the incident and our ICAC unit is actively investigating it. There have not been any charges made as of yet. Our ICAC unit will typically not work with civilians acting as undercover operatives and does not condone such activities because the training involved to conduct these investigations consists of hours of intense legal training. New twist in honey trap case as Kochi police book IT firm chief executive officer

KOCHI: In a new twist to the honey trap and extortion case involving a Kochi-based IT firm, the Kochi city police have booked the company owner based on a complaint by the woman accused in the case. The Infopark police have registered a case against Litmus7 CEO Venu Gopalakrishnan under various charges, including outraging the modesty of a woman and issuing threats. 'We registered the case after receiving a formal complaint from the woman. In her statement, she alleged that apart from Venu, three other persons from the company also threatened her,' said a source with Kochi city police, adding that a detailed investigation is underway. Advocate Kalyanakrishnan, counsel for the couple accused in honey trap case, said, 'This is not a counter-case. The IT firm owner, anticipating a sexual harassment case against him, lodged a complaint first in an attempt to evade the legal consequences.' The woman, who worked as personal assistant to Venu, resigned from the company after her marriage. Venugopal allegedly troubled her with a sexual intent. The honey trap allegation was a retaliatory move after she informed Venu of her intention to file a complaint under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) against him with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) at the workplace, said the advocate. 'The Ernakulam magistrate court granted bail after taking into account the arguments and concerns raised by us. Moreover, the bail was approved with standard conditions, including prior notice for appearances before the investigating team,'said Kalyanakrishnan. He also pointed out that the case filed against the couple appears to have been influenced by some top police official, and which has been mentioned in the bail application. The woman and her husband, both natives of Chavakkad in Thrissur, were arrested by the Ernakulam central police on July 29 based on a complaint by Venu, who accused the couple of extorting money by threatening to spread defamatory allegations and falsely implicate him in a sexual assault case. Police had also confirmed the seizure of cheque leaves valued at around `20 crore, along with related agreements, from the couple's possession.
