Global law enforcement leaders wrap up Dubai summit
The World Police Summit has wrapped up in Dubai with a strong focus on the future of global policing.
On its final day, the summit spotlighted key areas including artificial intelligence in law enforcement, road safety, organised crime and youth empowerment.
Held under the theme 'Beyond the Badge: Envision the Next Era of Policing', the event brought together international police leaders to tackle major issues like cross-border crime, cyber threats and the growing role of AI in policing.
More than a dozen core topics were covered, including human trafficking, border security and anti-narcotics strategies, making it one of the most comprehensive police summits to date.

World Police Summit Draws Global Law Enforcement Leaders to Dubai in Record-Breaking Edition
The fourth edition of the World Police Summit, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, brought together over 53,000 participants from more than 110 countries—making it the largest edition to date and marking a 300% increase in attendance from last year. More than 900 individuals competed in the World Police Summit Awards, with 12 winners honoured on the final day. 'This year's turnout and impact have far exceeded expectations,' said Lt. Col. Dr. Rashid Hamdan Al Ghafri, Secretary-General of the Summit. 'The summit has become a vital platform for international police cooperation and innovation.' Key partners included INTERPOL, EUROPOL, UNODC, WHO, and NYU Abu Dhabi, which hosted an academic symposium. Dubai Police dismantles begging ring, arrests 41 people
Dubai Police on Friday announced it arrested 41 people for begging and seized AED 60,000 from their possession. Under an operation named 'Misbah' - meaning 'prayer bead' in Arabic - the authority found all the detainees living in the same hotel, which they allegedly used as a base for organised begging activities. Dubai Police began surveilling the location after receiving a tip and detained three individuals selling prayer beads and accessories, who confessed to being part of a wider operation during questioning. In coordination with hotel management, 28 suspects were arrested. The following day, 10 more were apprehended as they attempted to leave the hotel. All reportedly admitted to operating as an organised group for begging and were referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
