Niyad Nellanar scheme brings lasting changes in Chhattisgarh's Chilkapalli village
Raipur: Chilkapalli village, nestled in the remote area of Naxal-affected Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, has suffered a lack of basic amenities for a long time. However, the villagers are witnessing a transformational change in their lives, with the provision of basic essentials and access to government services, for the first time since Independence.
Niyad Nellanar scheme has played a pivotal role in this endeavour and helped the region evolve from 'starved to sufficient' in terms of facilities and services.
People here are getting a lot of help from the state government's schemes. The Niyad Nellanar Yojana has proved instrumental in building roads and providing electricity connections to hundreds of households in the village.
This is for the first time since Independence that the Chilkapali village has got access to electricity. The villagers are indeed happy and excited about the development reaching their village.
Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, speaking to news men recently, informed about the expansion of banking facilities in the Bastar region, good governance festival, quick solution of public problems through dialogue in the areas, which largely remained ignored and abandoned for the past seven decades.
Maoists have slowly started returning to the mainstream. Electricity has reached Chilkapali, a remote village in Bijapur district, for the first time since Independence. A new hope is visible on the faces of the villagers.
The Naxalism-affected village earlier lacked basic infrastructure like roads, access to clean drinking water, but now things are changing.
Roads, water and health services have become a reality in the village. Today, homes are lit up with electricity while villagers are able to get medication and treatment in the near vicinity.
A local resident said that Naxalism was the biggest obstacle to the development of this region.
A woman resident said that they are benefiting from the double-engine government.
Another local said that Naxalism is on its way out because of the double-engine government, setting the stage for multi-pronged development.

11 years of Modi government shining example of 'failures', 'anti-people policies': Congress
The Congress on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) said the last 11 years of the Narendra Modi government have been a shining example of "failures" and "anti-people policies" as BJP's politics focussed on creating divisions in society. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Congress general secretary and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said during this period, the entire country is feeling insecure as the Prime Minister talks of people being identified by their clothes, about 'shamshaan' and 'kabristaan' and is not perturbed by the atrocities being committed on tribals and Dalits. He alleged that the BJP leaders enjoy insulting and harassing people, yet no action is taken against anyone under this government. "The 11 years of Narendra Modi is a shining monument of failures and anti-people policies. In the beginning he showed dreams to the people and by the time he completed 11 years, he reached the point of destroying 'sindoor'. "The BJP leaders are making a lot of noise about these 11 years, but if you see what you have got in 11 years, you will find that all the schemes of the BJP government have failed. Modi ji's entire political journey has been of disintegration and division," Mr. Baghel alleged. He said the Uttar Pradesh government claimed that only 37 people died during the Kumbh stampede earlier this year, while a BBC report revealed that 82 people were killed. After demonetisation, Mr. Baghel said, the government asserted that black money would be brought back, but after this decision many people died and many people had to face a lot of problems. "PM Narendra Modi had said that demonetisation will end terrorism and Naxalism in the country, but everything is happening contrary to the claim. The situation was the same during the time of Corona. The government does not have any facility for treatment. Instead of making arrangements, the government made the whole country clap and beat plates to divert attention," the former Chief Minister alleged. Mr. Baghel also claimed that the lockdown was imposed without any thought or preparation during Corona, and due to this, people got stranded here and there in the entire country. Those who got affected by Corona did not get treatment and in this way lakhs of people lost their lives, he claimed. "Today, after Corona, the number of deaths has suddenly increased in the country. People are losing their lives, but no study is being done on this in the country," he said.

Will not allow KCR's family into Congress; all facts about Kaleshwaram to be presented in two days: Telangana CM Revanth
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said he would present all the facts of the Kaleshwaram project within two days, even as he described Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K. Chandrashekar Rao's family as the 'true enemies' of Telangana. In an informal interaction with reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday (June 11, 2025), where he camped for the last three days, Mr. Reddy termed the episode of K. Kavitha [her letter to KCR] as a 'film-style' drama of the KCR family seeking public attention as they have become irrelevant in the State. Referring to rumours of Kavitha approaching the Congress, Mr. Reddy also made it clear that no member of the KCR family would be allowed into the Congress. 'As long as I am in power, there will be no entry for KCR's family into the Congress. I won't allow it.' Portfolios allocation The Chief Minister confirmed that the new ministers inducted into the cabinet would be allotted portfolios as soon as he returns to Hyderabad from New Delhi. He also clarified that a decision on reshuffling or allocation of portfolios is not taken by him alone. 'Without the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, and the Telangana Congress in-charge, such decisions cannot be made,' he said ruling out reshuffle in the portfolios. Attacks Kishan Reddy Mr. Revanth Reddy did not spare Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy accusing him of obstructing Telangana's development. He said Mr. Kishan Reddy was the biggest hurdle to the State's progress. 'He has never reviewed a single central development scheme for the State.' He also alleged that the Union Minister was acting at the behest of KCR, and claimed that several infrastructure projects, including the Regional Ring Road, were delayed due to his interference. 'I personally facilitated the land acquisition for the Cherlapalli Railway Station,' he said explaining State Government's proactive role. Shared caste survey experience Mr. Revanth Reddy said that during his meeting with All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, party leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal, he briefed them on the Telangana Caste Census model. He said the caste survey was a comprehensive social, economic, educational, and political survey giving details of the social structure in Telangana. Replying to a query, he remarked that Naxalism ideology would continue to exist in one form or the other as long as societal inequalities were present. He also clarified that his family members were not into politics and they were into business.

Chhattisgarh deploys 7 young IPS officers to Maoist-affected districts
The Chhattisgarh government has deployed seven young 2021-batch IPS officers to Maoist-hit districts — Sukma, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Narayanpur — to provide them with a first hand experience of a conflict zone and infuse fresh blood in anti-naxal operations, officials said. Another IPS officer from the same batch has been deputed as ASP in the special task force (STF) for anti-Naxal operations in Durg district. The transfer orders came on Tuesday night, just two days after the death of additional SP Akash Rao Girepunje in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in Sukma district. The transfers of these officers mark a significant reinforcement in Maoist affected districts, with all officers being posted as Additional Superintendents of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations), a move aimed at enhancing both tactical execution and localised planning. A senior officer who is part of anti-Naxal operations said, 'This is a good decision, though it should have come earlier. These officers have already completed over 20 months as City Superintendent of Police (CSPs) and deploying them now in core Maoist areas brings sharper focus to command, execution and supervision.' 'Nearly 20 IPS officers are now posted in just four districts, a first for the state. These young, dynamic officers will bring a decisive edge to operations in tough terrain and the smaller jurisdictions allow for specialised, intensive anti-Maoist efforts. Secondly, the redeployment aligns with the Union home ministry's goal of ending Maoist influence in the core zones by March 2026,' said the officer. The IPS officers who have been transferred to the Bastar region are Rohit Kumar Shah (Sukma), Udit Pushkar (Dantewada), Ravindra Meena and Aman Jha (Bijapur), Ajay Kumar and Akshay Sabadra (Narayanpur) and Akash Shrishrimal (Bhanupratappur, Kanker). The eighth IPS officer, Akash Kumar Shukla, has been posted as ASP in Durg. Bijapur superintendent of police Jitendra Yadav described the move as both timely and tactical. 'This will definitely help. The young batches are highly motivated and hardworking. When they come to Maoist-affected districts, they are given responsibilities of anti-Naxal operations such as intelligence gathering and field operations.' Other officers also believe that Tech and TAC (Technology and Tactics) in anti-Naxal operations have evolved manifold and the young recruits will bring in new strategies. 'We already know that even jawans are actively using new Tech and TAC techniques like data standardisation, data analysis, communication encryption and decryption methodologies, probability theory and game theory techniques,' said a second senior police officer. Narayanpur superintendent of police Prabhat Kumar said more and more young IPS officers are now part of four to five day long operations in the forests. 'Young officers have brought and will further bring a paradigm shift in anti-Naxal operations as it is more of a game of heart and mind than of weapon,' Kumar said. Inspector General of Police of Bastar range, Sundarraj P, said, 'This is not just a reinforcement of manpower but a step toward shaping a more responsive and resilient policing ecosystem. These officers will complement the experienced leadership on ground and help build deeper trust with local communities.' Experts believe that the move will give support and planning for SPs of Bastar districts. Former Special Director General of Police RK Vij added, 'This strengthens the SP-level planning and execution ability. Field operations need real-time intelligence and decision-making, and this shift supports both.' The appointments come just days after a tragic IED explosion on June 10 near Dondra village in Sukma killed ASP Akash Rao Girepunje and left two other officers injured.
