Chhattisgarh CM meets Union Home Minister Amit Shah, shares achievements of anti-Naxal operations
New Delhi [India], June 6 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah in New Delhi on Friday. According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), during the meeting, the Chief Minister provided a detailed briefing on the state's recent successes in anti-Maoist operations and the ongoing development initiatives in the Bastar region. CM Sai informed the Home Minister that the anti-Naxal campaign has reached a decisive phase with the state's renewed strategy and the continued support of the Centre. Intensive operations conducted over the past one and a half years have yielded significant results, including the surrender of 1,428 Maoists, a remarkable increase compared to the previous five years. He further stated that 205 encounters occurred during this period, eliminating 427 Maoists, including top leaders such as Baswaraju, the Maoist general secretary, and Central Committee member Sudhakar. The state has also established 64 new forward security camps, substantially strengthening the security grid in the affected regions. The Chief Minister noted that the areas surrounding these security camps are now rapidly gaining access to basic services like electricity, drinking water, healthcare, and education. Under the 'Niyad Nellanar Yojana', 146 villages have been identified where 18 types of integrated community services and 25 government schemes are being actively implemented, leading to a noticeable increase in local trust in the government machinery. Union Home Minister Amit Shah appreciated the Chief Minister's detailed progress report and lauded the Chhattisgarh government's decisive action against Maoist violence. He assured that the central government will continue to extend full support to the state in its fight against Left-Wing Extremism and in ensuring sustainable development in tribal and remote areas. This high-level meeting reaffirmed the Centre-State synergy in combating extremism and highlighted Chhattisgarh's evolving success story, one where peace and development are steadily replacing decades of insurgency. Niyad Nellanar scheme brings lasting changes in Chhattisgarh's Chilkapalli village
Raipur: Chilkapalli village, nestled in the remote area of Naxal-affected Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, has suffered a lack of basic amenities for a long time. However, the villagers are witnessing a transformational change in their lives, with the provision of basic essentials and access to government services, for the first time since Independence. Niyad Nellanar scheme has played a pivotal role in this endeavour and helped the region evolve from 'starved to sufficient' in terms of facilities and services. People here are getting a lot of help from the state government's schemes. The Niyad Nellanar Yojana has proved instrumental in building roads and providing electricity connections to hundreds of households in the village. This is for the first time since Independence that the Chilkapali village has got access to electricity. The villagers are indeed happy and excited about the development reaching their village. Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, speaking to news men recently, informed about the expansion of banking facilities in the Bastar region, good governance festival, quick solution of public problems through dialogue in the areas, which largely remained ignored and abandoned for the past seven decades. Maoists have slowly started returning to the mainstream. Electricity has reached Chilkapali, a remote village in Bijapur district, for the first time since Independence. A new hope is visible on the faces of the villagers. The Naxalism-affected village earlier lacked basic infrastructure like roads, access to clean drinking water, but now things are changing. Roads, water and health services have become a reality in the village. Today, homes are lit up with electricity while villagers are able to get medication and treatment in the near vicinity. A local resident said that Naxalism was the biggest obstacle to the development of this region. A woman resident said that they are benefiting from the double-engine government. Another local said that Naxalism is on its way out because of the double-engine government, setting the stage for multi-pronged development.
