In the horrific CCTV video that caught the moment the tree uprooted in in Kalkaji area, cars and two-wheelers can be seen passing by when suddenly the tree falls onto a scooter and the back of a car.

This downpour came just days after heavy rains lashed across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and other parts of the NCR earlier on the Rakshabandhan weekend.
According to IANS, for Uttar Pradesh, the weather department has issued an orange alert for several northern districts, warning of heavy showers in Bareilly, Lakhimpur, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Bahraich, Sitapur, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, and Maharajganj.
Rain or thundershowers are expected at most locations in western Uttar Pradesh and a few places in the eastern region on Thursday, with rainfall intensity predicted to ease from August 15.

Monsoon In India
Across the country, monsoon activity has intensified, prompting the IMD to issue alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several states. Extremely heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Uttarakhand, while heavy to very heavy showers are expected in Himachal Pradesh.
Heavy rainfall is also predicted at some locations in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.

Heavy rainfall alert in Maharashtra from August 16 to 21: IMD
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 16 (ANI): According to the information received from the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, the State Emergency Operations Centre has notified that there is a likelihood of heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds across the state during August 16 to August 21, areas in the Konkan and the ghats of Central Maharashtra may witness heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. In Marathwada, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places. Lightning, thunder, and strong winds (40-50km/h) are also August 16 and 20, the sea is expected to be rough, with wind speeds of 50-60km/h on the Konkan Coast. Death toll due to monsoon rains reaches 261 in Himachal
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 16 (ANI): Several places in Himachal Pradesh continue to reel under the impact of the heavy monsoon rains. According to the State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA), the state has recorded 261 deaths between June 20 and August 16, these, 136 people were killed in rain-related incidents such as landslides, flash floods, drowning, electrocution, and house collapses, while 125 lives were lost in road impact has been particularly severe in Mandi district, which reported the highest number of rain-related casualties (26 deaths) along with major losses to public infrastructure. Other severely hit districts include Kangra (28 deaths, including 7 in landslides and 6 in flash floods), Chamba (10 deaths), and Kullu (11 deaths).The HPSDMA report highlights that 2,14,457 lakh rupees worth of damage has been caused to public and private property this monsoon. Roads, water supply schemes, agriculture, horticulture, and electricity infrastructure have suffered massive damage. The Public Works Department (PWD) alone has reported losses exceeding Rs 1.18 lakh crore, while agriculture and horticulture combined losses are estimated at over Rs 83,000 connectivity remains one of the worst-hit sectors, with frequent blockages on major highways including NH-05 (Kinnaur) and NH-305 (Kullu) due to landslides and flash floods. Villages in interior areas remain cut off for days, making rescue and relief operations report also notes widespread damage to homes: 278 houses fully damaged, 288 partially damaged, and 703 cow sheds destroyed.
