Ohio sees surge in psychedelic mushroom products marketed as candy
More psychedelic mushrooms are appearing on store shelves, tripling in one year.

'They look like candy you would get at a candy store,' Attorney General Dave Yost said.
Some of the candy bars confiscated by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations are labeled 'Mocha Frappuccino' and 'Fruity Pebbles,' CBS-affiliate WBNS reported.
'It's not just magic mushrooms anymore. We are seeing the active ingredients Psilocyn incorporated into other things to appeal to kids, chocolate bars, candies,' Yost said.

BCI has not seen these types of chocolate bars before 2023.
In 2023, BCI reported finding 21 pounds of magic mushrooms. In 2024, there were 65 pounds reported.
'I'm especially concerned because we are seeing more and more marketing, not just with Psilocyn, but also with the Cannabinoid 8 and the various derived hemp products that we are seeing marketed in candy form, unregulated,' Yost said.
Yost says the illegal candy bars are on store shelves in gas stations and vape shops— all places where your child can get them.
BCI has collected 150 items containing mushrooms already this year.

Denver police confront marchers upset with ICE in chaotic exchanges downtown, block group from accessing I-25
Police in Denver responded in full force on Tuesday night to marches downtown after an early evening protest at the Colorado State Capitol. CBS Video captured near the intersection of 20th Street and Little Raven Street in Denver showed a large crowd of demonstrators and smoke just before 10 p.m. At one point in the video, a marcher threw an object that looked to be a pepper ball back at police. At least one person was detained on Tuesday night. Police also blocked the entrance to Interstate 25 at Broadway so marchers couldn't enter, and there was another large police presence at Market Street and 20th. Break-off groups from an earlier peaceful protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement grew more chaotic as the night went on. Denver police told CBS Colorado rocks and bottles were thrown at officers near Coors Field. Some video was circulating online showing smoke. CBS Colorado contacted police to find out what it was. Their final report is not available so it's not known what was used, but they confirmed to CBS Colorado that no tear gas had been used. Similar confrontations have been happening in several other cities across the country, including Los Angeles. Protests and marches have been going on there for days as demonstrators have been clashing with police. Many protests -- including in Texas, in Chicago, and now in Denver -- have come about in response to the situation in California.

Gwinnett police seek suspect in Norcross shooting
Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect they say was involved in a Norcross shooting back in April. Authorities say a suspect fired multiple shots at a blue Hyundai Elantra at about 1 p.m. April 10. The Elantra was leaving the area of 5615 Singleton Road. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Two people were in the vehicle. They appeared to have been engaged in a transaction with the suspect shortly before the shooting. No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire. The suspect is described as a male with medium-length hair, standing about 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. At the time of the shooting, the suspect was wearing a pink hoodie, white shorts, white shoes and carrying a gray bookbag.
