Gloria Romero's family labels social media claims about her alleged will as fake news
The family of veteran actress Gloria Romero has officially dismissed claims circulating on social media regarding a purported last will and testament of the late actress, labeling it as fake news.
According to One PH, Romero's family feels saddened by this disinformation. They requested that the public allow them the necessary space to grieve the loss of their loved one, stating that they will address the issue at the appropriate time.
The false post alleged that the Queen of Philippine Cinema possessed P717 million in the bank, claiming that she allocated P215 million for building a provincial high school in Bataan and P47.8 million each to three of her favorite non-profit organizations. It also stated that her only child, Maritess, would inherit P179.4 million and her mansion in Sta. Ana, Manila.

Romero, born Gloria Anne Borrego Galla, was cremated today, January 29, and laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Shrine in Quezon City. She is interred alongside the cremated remains of her husband, Juancho Gutierrez.
A Senate resolution was also filed today to pay tribute to her significant contributions to the movie industry, the Philippine News Agency reported.
Meanwhile, the Facebook page that originally posted the claim has admitted its error and amended its post.

Filipina visual artist Marjowyn Vito stood proudly among over 100 women from across the globe as she represented the Philippines at the 8th edition of Art Connects Women, an international exhibition held in Dubai. Staying true to her signature style, Vito infused Her Relay with rich symbolism. The figures in her piece bear objects balanced on their heads—each representing a milestone in the fight for gender equality. 'But the fight is not yet over,' Vito pointed out, adding that while some countries have made great strides, many women around the world still face limitations. 'The next challenge is for women everywhere to enjoy the freedom to define their own futures. That is the legacy we must carry forward.' Representing the Philippines Held under the patronage of UNESCO, Art Connects Women celebrates the creativity of female artists from around the world. This year's edition featured 112 participants representing various countries. Vito with Hon. Marford M. Angeles, Consul General in Dubai, at the Art Connects Women exhibit Vito described the experience as similar to joining the 'Miss World of the art world.' 'While we don't all know everybody's names yet, we call each other by the names of the countries we represent and it's a great honor to be called 'Miss Philippines' by my fellow artists,' she said. With that honor, however, came a deeper sense of responsibility. 'In this global event, I know that I am not just representing myself, but my country and hopefully to make the Philippines proud in the same way that my country has made me proud to be Filipino,' she added. A legacy of her own Beyond the message of her work, Vito hopes to leave her own mark in the art world through Contrasegmentism, the technique she developed and coined herself. Defined by its contrasting segments of color and texture—blending flatness with volume—Contrasegmentism allows her to tell layered visual stories with striking depth. 'I believe Contrasegmentism can also evolve into an art movement where there can also be many Contrasegmentists in the same way that there are many Impressionists or Cubists. This is a contribution I hope my art gets to offer to the art world with its origins in the Philippines,' she said. In an exclusive interview with The Filipino Times, Rachelle, whose performances have earned international acclaim, shared her excitement about performing for her fellow Filipinos in this highly anticipated concert version of Les Misérables. Having previously visited Abu Dhabi, Rachelle reflected on the warmth of the Filipino community in the city, noting how their presence made her feel right at home. 'We were there last year, and we love the UAE. We love Abu Dhabi. My family—my husband and my two kids—they love it,' she shared. 'To see a lot of Filipinos there as well, nakakataba ng puso. Pag nakakasalamuha ko sila after the show or kahit sa mall, naglalakad ako, Filipinos are everywhere! Para lang akong nasa Philippines.' Her bond with the Filipino audience runs deep, as she acknowledged the unique energy they bring to her performances. 'When you're doing a concert version, ibang vibe. 'The people, I believe, will connect more with the voice and little movements. Overcoming challenges as an international performer Reflecting on her journey in international theater, Rachelle acknowledged the difficulties she faced when she moved to the UK in 2014 for her first musical show, Miss Saigon. 'Wala akong experience. I didn't train. No training at all in musical theater. So being in a space, being in a room filled with people who are trained, who are experienced, it's quite intimidating. I felt like I was so insecure,' she admitted. 'I learned through my co-actor, yung mga director. Tinuturuan naman nila kami. Parang nawala na rin yung hiya.' She also shared how she related to the struggles of OFWs, particularly the challenge of being away from loved ones. 'I'm sure lahat ng OFW yung makaka-relate sa akin. When you're sick, tapos you don't have your parents, you don't have your kapatid around, and you're on your own. You're alone… So I think that's the biggest challenge is homesickness,' she said. For aspiring Filipino performers, Rachelle had this advice: 'Know what your gifts are. Know it and then hone it… Train to become the best version of yourself and keep auditioning.' 'Always do it with heart. And the people will see it and they will see you shine. They will always see the light in you,' she added.
