Jaipur: A day after a hoax email led to a full evacuation of SMS Stadium, another threatening email sent Friday warned of bomb attacks targeting Jaipur Metro infrastructure, triggering a high alert across the city.DCP (Metro) Sushil Kumar said the threat mail, referencing "
Operation Sindoor
", claimed that metro systems across the country would be bombed.
In response, Jaipur police launched an extensive security drill, conducting thorough checks at all metro stations and key installations. "All metro lines were secured and sanitised as per standard procedure," Kumar said. The email is the latest in a growing list of digital threats received in recent months. Police officials confirmed that over a dozen such emails were reported in the last three months, all of which turned out to be hoaxes.

Still, each case required full-scale response operations, exhausting considerable manpower and resources."Even though we know many of these threats are false, we are obligated to follow the full SOP—evacuation, bomb disposal sweeps, deployment of dog squads and anti-terror units—until each threat is ruled out," a senior official said.Police suspect that the sender of the email used multiple proxy servers to mask the IP address, making it difficult to trace the origin. Officials said that the matter was escalated to central cyber agencies, and the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) was approached for assistance.A senior officer said some email service providers have recently become less cooperative, citing an increasing number of hoax cases. "Earlier, major tech firms treated these as emergency disclosures. Now they process such requests slowly, classifying them as routine queries," the officer said.

Boy kills friend for ransom in Bokaro, arrested

1 2 Bokaro: A boy, linked to criminals and desperate to get easy money, kidnapped his school friend but later murdered him in a manner so brutal that even police were left stunned. The gruesome crime took place in the Gamen Colony area under the city police station on Thursday. The accused, identified as Aman Kumar Vats, (19), has been arrested. According to police, Vats lured his schoolmate, 19-year-old Debashish Kumar, to a rented house after calling him out of his house. Vats then made Kumar consume a large amount of alcohol. Once Kumar lost consciousness, Vats tied Kumar's hands and feet, recorded a video from the victim's mobile phone, and sent it to his family with a ransom demand of Rs 25 lakh. Later, Vats got scared of being identified and killed Kumar by strangling him. To hide evidence, he buried the body in a tank of the courtyard of the rented house, covered it with soil, and planted a sapling over it to conceal the crime. Police were alerted after the ransom video was shared by Kumar's family. Using mobile surveillance, they quickly tracked and arrested Vats. Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh confirmed Vat's confession to killing his friend. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Simple. Clean. Both the accused and the victim were former students of a private and had passed their intermediate exams in 2024. Kumar was preparing for engineering entrance exams while living with his maternal uncle Om Prakash in Sector 3C. His father works in a private company in Odisha. Meanwhile, Vats is a resident of Sector 12A, and his father is employed with the ESL Steel Plant. Kumar's maternal uncle Om Prakash said, "Kumar had left home on June 10 around 2 pm after receiving a call from a friend. His phone was unreachable after that. We registered a missing report on June 11 and later that evening, we received the ransom video. The response by the police led to the recovery of the body and the arrest of Vats." He added, "I believe that such a big crime is not committed by a single youth, police should find the others, too." Preliminary investigations revealed Vats' links with cybercriminals. He had allegedly rented out his bank account to a fraudster, who transferred Rs 11 lakh fraudulently into it. After the account was frozen following a cybercrime by Madhya Pradesh police, Vats was desperate for money, prompting him to commit the heinous crime. Police have seized three mobile phones, an Airtel 4G SIM card, and a 32 GB SanDisk memory card from Vat's possession. Further investigations were underway to identify if Vats had any other accomplices in the crime, the SP added.. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Police ban heavy vehicles at Pune's Gangadham Chowk from 6am-11pm after accident death

1 2 3 Pune: Police commissioner Amitesh Kumar on Thursday said heavy vehicles would be banned between 6am and 11pm on a temporary basis and height barriers soon installed in the accident-prone Gangadham Chowk area. Kumar said this after reviewing the traffic situation at the Gangadham Chowk a day after a woman, Deepali Soni (29), riding pillion on a scooter died and her father-in-law, Jagdish Soni (61), was injured as a truck hit their two-wheeler at the busy junction on Gangadham-Shatrunjay road — a stretch banned for heavy vehicles. The truck, which was coming from Market Yard, was not supposed to move towards the Aai Mata temple as heavy vehicles are banned on Gangadham-Shatrunjay road. Besides banning movement of heavy vehicles on the Gangadham-Shatrunjay Mandir road, the police also announced similar restrictions on the Lullanagar-Gangadham Chowk-Bibvewadi Road between 6am and 11pm. Movement of heavy vehicles was also banned on the Seven Loves Chowk-Gangadham Chowk stretch. "We do not want any heavy vehicle to cross the Gangadham Chowk during these hours. A notification in this regard will be issued soon," Kumar said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Aparat portabil de sudura cu laser, suporta sudarea sub apa Esto Cumpără acum Undo Residents of the Gangadham area said Wednesday's was not the first fatal accident at the busy crossing. Exactly a year ago, a woman (59) was killed and her daughter-in-law (37) was critically injured after a dumper truck had hit their scooter near Gangadham Chowk. Following this, police on June 22 last year introduced a ban on heavy vehicles on two roads leading to the Gangadham Chowk on Bibwewadi-Kondhwa Road from 7am to 10pm. The two roads begin from Shatrunjay Temple and Tilekarnagar Chowk and converge at Aai Mata Mandir road and further to Gangadham Chowk. Trucks, cement mixers, dumpers and all types of multi-axle commercial transport vehicles (barring emergency, essential services and public transport vehicles) were banned then on the stretch. The latest accident occurred as the truck driver violated the ban, police said. "We know that there are many construction activities in the area, and ready-mix cement trucks, dumper trucks and other heavy vehicles regularly use the Gangadham Chowk. These vehicles will also not be allowed to cross the Gangadham Chowk," said Kumar, who was accompanied by joint police commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma and additional commissioner of police Manoj Patil. "Moreover, there are vegetable shops and godowns at the Market Yard. Godown and shops operating without govt approvals and licences will be sealed. We will also consult the city fire brigade and ambulance association before installing the height barriers," the police commissioner said. "The area has a number of liquor shops and bars. We will serve notices under the Bombay Police Act to the ones close to schools. If they fail to provide satisfactory answers, their licences. People cannot consume alcohol near roads and cause nuisance to other road users," he said. Police will also focus on ways to better the traffic arrangements at the crossing. "Our team will undertake traffic improvement at the junction and prepare a plan to improve mobility and safety. We will remove all encroachments. The Aai Mata Mandir Road has a steep slope towards Gangadham Chowk. We will again discuss the issue with PMC and work on reducing the gradient. It will require engineering solutions. We will review the situation at the chowk after a week," he said. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Call centre of cyber scam busted, 15 held

Lucknow: A sophisticated multi-layered fraudulent call centre orchestrating a wide range of cyber scams across India was busted in Lucknow. This digital fraud operation, which used platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and the Reddy Anna betting app, is believed to have been remotely controlled by a mastermind operating from Dubai. The local call centre in the Vrindavan Yojna area functioned as a dummy terminal for outreach and coordination. The gang duped over 1,000 people from across India, minting several crores. A total of 15 accused were arrested during a coordinated raid at a residential tower in Vrindavan Yojna on Thursday. Additional DCP, Crime Unit, Vasanth Kumar, who led the probe, told TOI that during questioning, all 15 accused admitted to involvement in cyber fraud and online gambling, targeting people across multiple states in India. "They claimed they destroyed devices after usage and regularly changed locations to avoid detection. The Cyber Crime Portal confirmed 69 complaints linked to the seized phones and 157 complaints tied to recovered passbooks and cheque books," he said. Kumar said that first victims were given initial fake wins to build trust. "After encouraging large deposits, their accounts were blocked or manipulated to show total losses. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta nueva alarma con cámara es casi regalada en Santo Tome (ver precio) Verisure Más información Undo The money was funnelled into mule accounts or cryptocurrency wallets, making it nearly untraceable," he said. Kumar said that the alleged kingpin, identified as Vishal Yadav alias Ganni alias Prince, coordinated the operations remotely and has shifted base between Sri Lanka, Singapore, Dubai, and now India to avoid law enforcement heat. The scam was previously operated abroad before relocating to Lucknow just a month ago. The gang, which lured victims across India by offering fake online work and betting opportunities, was being run remotely by its mastermind based in Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Dubai. Victims were approached through WhatsApp with offers of easy online income—work-from-home jobs, paid reviews, video likes, and commission-based tasks—to build initial trust. Once victims showed interest, they were shifted to Telegram groups or bots. Telegram's encryption and anonymity features enabled automated interaction and protected the scammers' identities. Kumar said that operations were managed via VoIP and virtual numbers to conceal the location. Masterminds are believed to be operating from Dubai, using encrypted channels. Funds were funnelled through layered mule accounts, betting platforms like Reddy Anna, and cryptocurrency wallets to avoid detection.
