Woman Claims Her Car Was Stolen from Driveway by an Unmarked Tow Truck: 'I Would Like My Vehicle'

Yahoo16-03-2025

A woman in Ohio claims her car was towed right out of her driveway — and she has no leads as to who took it.
According to CBS affiliate WOIO, Brittany Ealey allegedly came home the morning of Friday, March 7, to find that her black 2015 Nissan Rogue was not sitting in her driveway, where she had left it.
Ealey, a property manager, told the local station that she initially believed that her car had been towed away by the city while she wasn't home.
"I thought the city thought the property was vacant and they removed it," she told the outlet.
After reviewing security camera footage from a neighbor across the street, Ealey alleged her car had been towed by a truck with no visible logos at around 6 a.m. local time. She then discovered that the city did not have possession of her car.
"It's not under repossession, also, it's not in the impound," she told the outlet.
The grainy black and white security camera footage, obtained by WOIO, shows a large pickup truck backing into Ealey's driveway and pulling away with her car towing behind it.
Additionally, just one week after her car went missing, Ealey claimed she found her license plate sitting in the street. She told the outlet that she became concerned that her car had been stolen, and that the tow truck was not legitimate.

"I'm not sure if it's a company," she said. "It looks like a private vehicle."
The property manager added that she had filed a police report with Cleveland police and hoped that investigators might be able to use security camera footage to track down where the truck had taken her car.
"I don't care if they leave it on the corner somewhere, or just out in the open," Ealey told WOIO. "I would like my vehicle."
Cleveland police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for further information. Anyone with information about this incident can reach the police at 216-621-1234.

The Denver Police Department said one of its officers had a close call Sunday after a suspect crashed a vehicle, then tried to flee the scene with the officer inside. Police said the crash occurred around 3:46 p.m. near the intersection of Colfax Avenue and Osage Street. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive person inside a white GMC Yukon. Authorities said an officer entered the vehicle to turn it off and render aid to the driver, when the driver suddenly regained consciousness and tried to flee the scene with the officer still inside. CBS A few blocks away, police used a precision immobilization technique and forced the Yukon into a light pole, bringing it to a stop. Officers then took the suspect into custody. Pete Hegseth Threatens to Send Marines to LA ICE Protests

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has threatened to send the Marines to quell ongoing protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids in Los Angeles. Hegseth posted on X on that in addition to 'mobilizing the National Guard IMMEDIATELY to support federal law enforcement' in California's largest city, 'active duty Marines at Camp Pendleton will also be mobilized' if the violence continues. 'They are on high alert,' he added. The Daily Beast has reached out to the Pentagon for further comment on Hegseth's proposal. The protests first erupted on Friday afternoon following a series of raids by ICE officials across the city, with police arresting dozens of demonstrators outside the downtown federal building where immigrants were being detained. The White House has already dispatched an estimated 2,000 National Guardsmen to address the unrest, which continued through Saturday night. Reuters reported that a number of protesters on Friday threw what appeared to be blocks of broken concrete at police, which were met with flash bangs, tear gas, and pepper spray. Up to 400 people also gathered in the city of Paramount, Los Angeles County, on Saturday afternoon. Some threw rocks and other objects at law enforcement, with police firing 'non-lethal munitions' in an effort to disperse the crowds, CBS reported. One person was taken to a hospital not long after noon, with two others arrested for injuring peace officers, one of whom is accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail that struck three deputies. At least one vehicle is also reported to have been torched in the neighbouring city of Compton. By evening, the crowds had again gathered outside the federal building in downtown Los Angeles, where they were again met with flash-bangs and tear gas, per CBS. 'The violent mob assaults on ICE and Federal Law Enforcement are designed to prevent the removal of Criminal Illegal Aliens from our soil; a dangerous invasion facilitated by criminal cartels (aka Foreign Terrorist Organizations) and a huge NATIONAL SECURITY RISK,' Hegseth wrote. He added that 'it's COMMON SENSE' that 'violence & destruction against federal agencies & federal facilities will NOT be tolerated.' Trump himself has pushed baseless conspiracies about the unrest, claiming the 'Radical Left protests' are being carried out by 'paid troublemakers' while taking aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for being 'unable to to [sic] handle the task' of keeping the peace.

Noem says Trump admin won't let ‘a repeat of 2020 happen' as National Guard responds to LA immigration riots

President Donald Trump sent 2,000 National Guard soldiers to Los Angeles to help "keep peace" as immigration protests descended into riots, and to prevent a repeat of the 2020 unrest that saw the Democratic governor of Minnesota "let his city burn," Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said on Sunday. Noem addressed the deployment of the National Guard during an appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation," saying that Trump has the safety of the community and law enforcement officers at the top of his mind. "President Trump is putting the safety of the communities being impacted by these riots and by these protests that have turned violent, and he's putting the safety of our law enforcement officers first," Noem said. The violence comes in response to sweeping immigration raids in the Los Angeles area. Federal immigration authorities have said some of the migrants arrested last week had criminal histories that included assault and drug offenses. California Republicans Slam Newsom, Bass For Letting La Burn With Riots Amid Trump Immigration Blitz Noem said that Trump made the move to send in the troops because Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom "makes bad decisions" and Trump didn't want to wait for Newsom to "get some sanity." Read On The Fox News App Newsom has claimed that Trump is deploying the National Guard "not because there is a shortage of law enforcement, but because they want a spectacle." The California governor said Saturday that the state has deployed the California Highway Patrol to keep Los Angeles highways safe, though he added, "It's not their job to assist in federal immigration enforcement." But Noem vowed that Trump was "not going to let a repeat of 2020 happen," referencing riots that happened in Minneapolis at the time. She further criticized Democrats by noting how Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota responded during riots that happened in 2020. "Gov. Tim Walz made very bad decisions," she said, adding that Walz tried to request the help of the National Guard after "letting his city burn for days on end." Patel Promises Fbi Coming For Anyone Assaulting Cops As Los Angeles Erupts Over Ice Raids Walz called for the National Guard two days after the riots began in 2020, a point that was highlighted last year after former Vice President Kamala Harris tapped him as her running mate during her failed presidential run against Trump. Noem described the 2,000 National Guard soldiers as being specifically trained for "this type of crowd situation," where they will provide safety around buildings, to those engaged in peaceful protests and law enforcement. Noem said the National Guard will help with security in some areas, though she would not speak to the exact locations that the troops will be deployed to or to specific security operations. "They're there at the direction of the president in order to keep peace and allow people to be able to protest but also to keep law and order," she said of the National Guard. "That is incredibly important to the president."Original article source: Noem says Trump admin won't let 'a repeat of 2020 happen' as National Guard responds to LA immigration riots
