English and Scottish exhibitors barred from Royal Welsh Show
English and Scottish livestock exhibitors will not be allowed to compete in this year's Royal Welsh Show due to the Bluetounge virus. The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society have said they have taken the taken the decision due to veterinary advice about the 'unique risks' of the show. The Bluetongue virus is a highly infectious disease spread amongst sheep and cattle by infected midges It is listed by the UK government as a notifiable disease and the last year has seen multiple outbreaks in England. This has culminated with a recent change being announced by DEFRA which will see 'the restricted zone for bluetongue extended to cover all of England' from July 1 – 'this means that from this date you will be able to move animals within England without a bluetongue licence or test'. As a result, the show which will be held on the week of July 21 had to asses the situation. In a statement, a spokesperson for the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society said: 'While supporting the unrestricted movement of animals is important to us, our primary focus has been on developing a showing policy for this year's Royal Welsh Show that protects our exhibitors and the integrity of the event. 'The Show presents unique risks – it is a large-scale gathering of susceptible animals sharing close airspace over five to six days, and it takes place during the peak vector season. This is distinctly different form one-day livestock markets or direct farm-to-farm movements. "This includes all entries from England and Scotland." The Society added that the decision 'relates to this year's Royal Welsh Show and the Show alone'. They added: 'This has not been an easy decision for us We have explored all available options including pre-movement testing and unrestricted entries. Each had its pros and cons, but ultimately, none provided the level of risk mitigation we require or proved practically workable.'

Celtic book medical for striker as Kyogo set for emotional homecoming
The Scottish champions are beginning to motor ahead with the transfer plans Teenage Fulham striker Callum Osmand could become one of Celtic 's first summer signings. Brendan Rodgers is in the market for attacking reinforcements after losing promising starlet Daniel Cummings to West Ham. The Hoops have also yet to sign a replacement for Japanese goal machine Kyogo, who departed the club for Rennes in January. Now, CeltsAreHere reports that the Scottish champions are on the verge of landing rising Welsh star Osmand from Craven Cottage. It's claimed that a medical has already been booked for the 19-year-old who has caught the eye of Parkhead scouts. Osmand - who netted 10 goals in 17 Premier League 2 appearances last season - is out-of-contract at Fulham, meaning the Double-winners will be able to land him for a modest cross-border compensation fee. Barring any medical hitches, the talented goalscorer is expected to join Celtic's senior squad for pre-season, giving Rodgers a chance to take a closer look. Meanwhile, former Celtic idol Kyogo is back on holiday in his homeland and is set for an emotional return to former club Vissel Kobe. Kyogo has endured a miserable spell in France since his shock £10million winter move to Rennes, failing to score in six appearances. He's found himself bombed out under new boss Habib Beye and has already been deemed surplus to requirements by the Ligue 1 club. That's led to inevitable rumours of a quick-fire return to Glasgow, but it's unlikely Rodgers will sanction a return for the fans' favourite. Bournemouth have also been linked with his services, but for now, Kyogo will make an appearance in familiar territory this weekend. It's been announced that the 30-year-old will be in the stands for Vissel Kobe vs Nagoya Grampus on Sunday and will greet the fans in a special half-time bow at the Noevir Stadium Kobe. Elsewhere, reports in Greece suggest that Greg Taylor's switch to PAOK is far from a done deal. Multiple stories on Monday suggested that Taylor had agreed a two-year deal with the option of an additional 12 months to join the Greek outfit. Taylor is currently a free agent after talks over a new deal at Celtic Park hit the skids. The Scotland international, 27, is holidaying in Dubai with his family and SDNA claims PAOK are no further forward in their pursuit of the left-back, with talks said to be "frozen".

I'm a Rangers trialist turned European Tour winning golfer who ditched football because my dad bribed me
Dumfries star Conor Syme won his first DP Tour title after winning the KLM Open in the Netherlands last weekend Scottish golfer Connor Syme has joked that he had to be bribed to get into the putting game after having trials at Rangers as a kid. The Dumfries star - who won the KLM Open on Sunday to pick up his first DP World Tour title - was also involved in the youth-set up at Queen of the South before he was eventually persuaded to switch sports to golf. Syme turned professional in 2017 after enjoying great success as an amateur, winning the 2016 Australian Amateur Championship and picking up a medal in the 2014 Amateur Championship at Royal Porthcaw. And the 29-year-old - who is coached by his father Stuart - a former Scotland, GB and Ireland star - has revealed just how his transition from football into the famous old sport came about. Speaking to the DP World Tour, he said: "I think I was much more into football when I was younger to be honest. "I did have trials for Rangers though. But I think from what my dad and my whole family were really good at, like my dad obviously being a golfer, I was never forced into doing it. And I think that's why I am even doing it (golf) now. "I wanted to. I found it by myself. I was playing football for Queen of the South at time in Dumfries where I grew up. "We were right down at the bottom of Scotland and we'd be playing teams like Elgin that's like a six hour drive but you'd meet halfway and you'd only get half an hour (on the pitch), and I was lile 'oh this is brutal'. "Eventually I just fell in love with golf and my dad kinda coached me from there and got me into it. "He did have to bribe me at the start though. I remember playing the at the Scottish Under 14s and it still wasn't my love at that point. "But he was like 'right son if I get you this Black Series Odyssey putter, would you go and play? "I was like right. fine, I'll go and play if you get me that putter."
