Kevin Bacon and wife Kyra Sedgwick celebrate their rarely seen son Travis

Daily Mail4 hours ago

and his wife Kyra Sedgwick celebrated the 36th birthday of their rarely seen son Travis Bacon on Monday.
The 66-year-old Sirens actor - who boasts 17.3M social media followers - captioned his Instagram slideshow tribute: 'Happy birthday TSB! Boy I love my Boy.'
The goth nepo baby replied in the comments: 'Thanks Dad!'
The 59-year-old Bad Shabbos actress shared her mother-son Instagram tribute captioned: 'Happy birthday to my baby boy @svrtcntraclt.'
Travis spent his special day in Austin, TX with his girlfriend, burlesque performer Angelina Sambrotto aka 'Battyna Sin.'
Bacon has composed the scores for several films, he's the co-founder of horror production company Slashtag Cinema, and he's one half of the industrial duo Contracult Collective.
Kevin and Kyra are also proud parents of 33-year-old daughter Sosie Bacon, who last acted in Eddie Mensore's drug drama Hazard having grown up on movie sets just like her big brother.
Last November, Variety revealed the entire family-of-four will co-star in their own meta horror comedy called Family Movie.
On June 7, Bacon and Sedgwick attended the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Michael J. Weithorn's Brooklyn-set rom-com The Best You Can, which they produced and starred in, marking their first film together in 20 years.
In it, the Emmy winner portrays Dr. Cynthia Rand, who forms an unlikely bond with the Emmy nominee's character, home security guard Stan Olszewski, after her attempted break-in.
'I think they call it a scene partner for a reason, because you have to, in that moment, form a sort of partnership, even if the partnership is that you're two actors who hate each other,' Kevin told E! News on the red carpet.
'We've been partners for a really long time, so we take that life partnership and, you know, just kind of transfer it into our scene partnership.'

The married couple of 36 years - who are ninth cousins once removed - originally met in 1978 when 12-year-old Kyra complimented 19-year-old Kevin's performance in an off-Broadway play, and they reconnected in 1987 while co-starring in PBS movie Lemon Sky.
As for any lasting marriage advice, Kyra scoffed: 'Secret is don't take advice from celebrities about how to stay married.'
Kevin will not be returning as resurrected bounty hunter Hub Halloran in Grainger David's The Bondsman since Amazon Prime Video canceled the supernatural series last month.
But Bacon and his big brother Michael Bacon are next scheduled to bring their band the Bacon Brothers to the Warner Vineyards in Paw Paw, MI on July 16.
The eighties heartthrob famously got his big break dancing in the 1984 hit movie Footloose, which amassed $80M at the global box office despite dismal reviews.

Ban selfie-takers from museums – these people don't deserve to see great art

A few years ago, I found myself standing before Vernet's Portrait of a Lady in Los Angeles' County Museum of Art, taking a series of ' anger-management breaths '. What had made me cross enough to engage in a stress reduction technique I remain unconvinced by? Not the pursed-mouthed woman on the canvas, but the girl who had placed herself between me and the famous 19th-century portrait, phone aloft, face contorted into a series of cretinous expressions. She was taking selfies. Because that's what people do now when they see anything or anybody famous. Because what's the point of those things without 'le grand moi', the all-important you? There's a social media expression: 'pics or it didn't happen'. Really, it's 'pics or it doesn't count'. That painting was of zero value without her gurning little face in the frame. And when she met her friends later, the girl could pull out her phone and say: 'There's me – and Vernet's Portrait of a Lady.' Only one thing will take me from zero to 60 faster than a museum selfie-taker, and that's a museum selfie-taker who thinks it's beyond hilarious to assume the same pose as the subject of the painting. A goon like the Uffizi visitor who was trying so hard to perfect the same pose as Anton Domenico Gabbiani's Ferdinando de' Medici on Saturday, that he lost his balance and leant back against the canvas, tearing a hole in the bottom corner. Yesterday, the director of the Uffizi declared an official crackdown on selfie-takers. 'The problem of visitors coming to museums to make memes or take selfies for social media is rampant,' said Simone Verde. 'We will set very precise limits, preventing behaviour that is not compatible with the sense of our institutions and respect for cultural heritage. The tourist, who was immediately identified, will be prosecuted.' Good. Ban him, while you're at it. Do we have to wait until people fall through our most celebrated canvases and topple our ancient statues to do the same? British museums have been forced to embrace selfie culture because they fear that a crackdown would deter visitors. Some have even reconfigured themselves to be 'selfie-friendly' and advertised 'national selfie day' in an attempt to ingratiate themselves with the young. It's true that there are instances where that kind of 'engagement' does work. A lot of contemporary art is created with a kind of audience participation in mind, for example. But with anything older, museums are running the risk of alienating their core clientele. Ban selfies and you encourage people to take in their cultural heritage – perhaps even develop a little respect for it. Let those who are only interested in worshipping at their own altars stay at home, twisting, turning and gurning in front of their mirrors.

I'm an older mum and don't think women should have kids over 40 – a school gate comment floored me, don't do it

MOTHERHOOD is often painted as a picture-perfect experience, but for one woman who became a mum in her 40s, the reality has been far more complicated. Sharing her story on TikTok, she opened up about how a comment at the school gates from the other mums left her feeling deeply uncomfortable. 3 3 Sheena, who is known as ' sheena_tiktokreviews ' on TikTok, captioned the video: 'Don't do it…. Don't even think about it…. #kids #kidsafter40 #over40 #over50.' Reflecting on the early days of motherhood, she explained that 'when you have kids' at the age of 40 'it's lovely'. However, as her children grew older, she began to face unexpected challenges - and one moment stands out above the rest. Now she is at the age when she will head to the school playground to pick up her kids and other parents will ask how old she is, to which she will reply 48. But she then reveals that other parents will then end up saying that she is the same age as their mum. Sheena says: 'Do you think that makes me feel good about myself? I'm going to tell you now, it doesn't. I'm the same age as your kid's grandma.' Her honesty has sparked a debate online, with some praising her for speaking out while others argue that age shouldn't determine a woman's ability to be a good parent. Within 24 hours her video gained 84,000 views and 483 comments. One wrote: 'I am 45 and my kids are middle school age. I am exhausted. Have kids when you are young and have energy!' A second added: 'Ummm I had my son at 41, I'm turning 44 in a couple of weeks and about to start trying for a second! …. Just lie, they won't know!' The Playdate Payment Debate: Fair or Bonkers? While a third commented: 'I didn't plan on having my second at 44. It happened. 'My body believed it could do it. I wouldn't change my younger years.' But someone else said: 'Agree. My mom had me at 41. It isn't a good idea.' To which another person responded: 'My parents had me when they were older. 3 'Never had any problems. 'It is a more personal thing where you might feel older than other parents at your children's school. "And I agree, 41 now is different to 41 back in the days. 'We are entering an ageing population, low birth rates due to cost of living and people choosing to have kids later on in life.' Secrets of a school headteacher By the Secret Schoolteacher I STARTED working in schools in 1996, when parents respected teachers and left us alone to do our jobs. Not any more. Nowadays parents think nothing of barging into schools to read teachers the riot act if their precious child has been told off, or they'll send angry emails in the middle of the night. Warning — it doesn't make you popular. I've worked in all manner of schools across the south west of England, from state schools to private, and I can tell you that right now many teachers are dreading the start of the new school year. They're braced for tears and tantrums, not just from their pupils but from their parents too. Believe me, if you are an annoying parent it will spread round the staff room like wildfire. So whether it's your kid's first day at a new school, or they're moving up a year, these are the things you do that drive teachers crazy . . . Parents often turn up at the school gates complaining how frazzled they are, moaning that teachers must have had a nice long holiday while their six weeks stuck with the kids was the worst. Nothing could be further from the truth. For the first two weeks I'll almost certainly have been struck down by a lurgy which always seems to strike on the first day of the holiday. The next two weeks might have been an actual holiday, just like the average Brit takes in the summer, followed by two weeks of frantic lesson planning and administration. Also, consider that I've probably been working over 50 hours per week during term time. Contrary to popular opinion, we don't clock off at 3pm. Instead, we're roped into all manner of after-school activities and meetings before going home to do marking and more lesson planning. Please don't turn up and make sarcastic remarks about our 'six weeks off'. We won't be happy.

Brooklyn Beckham calls proposing to Nicola Peltz ‘best decision ever' after brother Cruz's savage swipes

BROOKLYN Beckham has hailed popping the question to wife Nicola Peltz as "the best decision ever." The 26-year-old previously said he knew the American actress and model was "the one" after just three months of dating. 7 7 7 7 Now chef and photographer Brooklyn has continued to gush over his spouse - despite "cutting off brothers Cruz and Romeo" in a family feud amid fears he's "obsessed" with his marriage. The son of David and Victoria Beckham has hit the headlines after a distancing from his family including his famous footballer father, after he snubbed all of David's 50th birthday celebrations earlier this year. Yet Brooklyn, who appears firmly in a love bubble with Nicola, 30, after their marriage in 2022, has now opened up further on his affections in a new Instagram grid post. He shared an image showing him kissing her cheek as she posed for a mirror selfie with her hair pinned up. In his caption, he wrote: "It's been 5 years since I asked this beautiful woman to marry me xx best decision ever x "I love you so much." FAMILY ISSUES? Yet away from their partnership, the rumoured Beckham feud is rumbling on. The situation has become so severe that Brooklyn is no longer on speaking terms with his siblings. According to The Mail, his family - which include Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, - refer to the aspiring chef as 'The Hostage'. Cruz recently took a swipe at his big brother in the form of song lyrics. Victoria Beckham posts Father's Day tribute to David Beckham with video of Brooklyn and his siblings singing amid 'feud' Taking to his Instagram stories, Cruz wrote "The truth will unfold" alongside some cryptic lyrics. He shared some lyrics from The Beatles' hit The End. "Love you, love you, love you, love you // Love. Posh and Becks' plan to make Harper Beckham a star David and Victoria Beckham are reportedly planning to help their daughter Harper become a star. The couple, who have already seen their sons Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz venture into the public eye, are said to be keen on guiding their youngest child into the limelight. Harper, who is 13 years old, has already shown a keen interest in fashion and beauty, much like her mother, Victoria. Victoria, a former Spice Girl turned fashion designer, and David, an ex-footballer, believe that Harper has the potential to make a significant impact in the entertainment industry. They are allegedly exploring various opportunities for her, including social media ventures and brand collaborations. The Beckhams are known for their savvy business acumen and are reportedly ensuring that Harper's foray into stardom is carefully managed. The couple's decision to support Harper's ambitions comes as no surprise, considering their own successful careers and the prominence of their family in the media. With her parents' guidance and the resources at their disposal, Harper could very well follow in their footsteps and carve out her own niche in the world of fashion and entertainment. "And in the end, the love you take // Is equal to the love you make," the lyrics read. The song was from the band's 1969 album Abbey Road before the band broke up. Cruz's grandparents have also rushed to support his latest career move - while Brooklyn has stayed silent. The Beckhams are yet to speak publicly about their family row but there have been several digs thrown around on social media. Brooklyn even publicly wished Nicola's brother a happy birthday recently, not long after snubbing his dad's milestone 50th by failing to attend any of the family celebrations. Brooklyn has also added a floral tattoo to his chest, swamping the "mama's boy" tribute to his mum Victoria that previously took pride of place. TRUE ROMANCE He opened up to Glamour on his early plans to pop the question to the Lola actress, who he married in Miami three years ago. In a rare joint interview and cover shoot with his wife, Brooklyn said: "I knew after three months that I wanted to marry her. "But because of COVID, I wanted to wait until our families could be there." Yet the chef and photographer failed to mention his parents David and Victoria by name, amid their recent family feud and claims he has now hired Prince Harry's lawyers to solve the bitter dispute. Brooklyn continued to detail his proposal plans to Glamour Magazine 's Germany edition and added: "A few hours before, I had a golf cart accident and needed stitches in my hand. "My thumb was completely bandaged - I couldn't even open the wine!" During the chat, he was quick to gush over his spouse and their almost-instant connection. He said: "When I first saw Nicola at Coachella, I was immediately captivated - by her beauty, her warmth, her charisma. "Even though it was only a fleeting moment, it stayed with me for a long time." He then added: "You have to marry your best friend, someone you feel at home with. For me, Nicola is exactly that." Brooklyn previously made a dig at his famous parents in a social media post about Bates Motel star Nicola, saying: 'My whole world. "I will love you forever. I always choose you baby.' 7 7 7
